  1. Awesome design Si! I really would love to see the interior... I checked and rechecked but didn't find any interior pics... probably overlooking them again...
  2. So I was right! We need not fear the Drow as of yet... All we need to do is destroy all the little monsters that come and go at Drow beckoning and then the Drow will lose ambition to conquer Historica!
  3. You have some original uses for pieces here! I think my favorite part are the spiked bone like things. Interesting way (perhaps efficient) to deal with the dead. However I think most citizens of Barqa would be outraged if we handled our dead that way...
  4. I like the acrobat training. I think I'm going to have to implement that into my soldiers training as well...
  5. Thanks for the comments! This was a spontaneous build. I was playing around with different minifig combinations for my Kalores faction and I came up with the spongbob/forester/gnome combo. That got me thinking about the Avalonia/Drow skirmish and the rest of build came to mind. I definately would like to continue with more editions, but I have to have something unique to place in the build for the next headliner. I probably will have some material for another edition when my Drow arrive. In fact ISC might have given me an idea to work with. But right now I'm kind of dead in the water because reporting on Mitgardia and Kaliphlin staying out of the conflict seems kind of boring news to me...
  6. Love the floor and windows!
  7. This is hilarious! I like the guy with the telescope to see whether or not the people fly... great build!
  8. By Clive Harper (Painting is not an actual representation of events.) Avalonia vs Drow Rumors have been trickling down to Kaliphlin of skirmishes between Avalonia and Drow. The word is, that the ruler of Avalonia, Artorious Rex, has now officially declared war on the Drow. It seems that Avalonia fears an imminent invasion by the Drow. Avalonian merchants visiting Barqa describe the Drow as merciless cowards, a disaster just waiting to happen. If the Drow are allowed to continue as they are, they say, it is only a matter of time before they leave Nocturnus and seek to conquer all of Historica. On the other hand, visiting Drow from Nocturnus describe the Avalonians as whimsical flower plucking romantisists wearing tights and say it is for the good of Avalonia that the Drow enslave them. When asked if it is true that they plan to conquer all of Historica, they heartily agree. Local Kaliphlinian Drow are worried that they will be racially profiled along with their Nocturnal relatives. "We strongly disagree with the action of the Nocturnus Drow," says a local Drow leader. In fact he says, "most of the so called Nocturnus Drow are not even of Drow blood but hideous subcreatures that admire ancient Drow culture." It is of great concern to them that Avalonia has declared war on Drow in general and have not distinguished between the different Drow clans. "We cannot change what our forefathers have done and it is a great injustice to us peaceful Drow to be treated as enemies when we have done no harm to anyone. Just because half our race might be evil does not mean we all are," our local Drow leader claims.
  9. tsk, tsk, I think the only thing that I will end up conceding is that the Drow are even more divided than I first thought- seems there might be more than one race of Drows... same thing here... at work and no working internet at home. But I also have Drow pictures coming... full face and ears included BUT THERE AREN'T ANY PROFILE PICTURES ON THE FRONT PAGE! Seriously though, thats the second time I've missed something and posted. Maybe I'm part Drow- too hyperactive. I tend to only scan everything I read and so I do tend to miss quite a bit...
  10. Welcome to Kaliphlin! or should I say glad to finally make your acquaintance? Nice backstory! Just an added thought here, I noticed Avalonia is putting character profiles on their front page. I think it would be cool if we did the same. We have a few on the wiki but not everyone participated in that venture so it might be better if Sci-MOCs adds members profiles to the front page here. I have a hard time sometimes remembering character names especially the really long ones so it would be very helpful for me to be able to go to one place and check whos who and where they are from. I could go and make myself a list but haven't really had the time lately... It's not because of me... I had gotten these a year ago for my castle but since I joined Eurobricks I came up with a better roof design so was trying to think of another use for these pieces. I thought about reselling them but want to wait until I'm "finished" building before I start cleaning up my collection.
  11. Preview of the free build I've been working on- Black Pyramid
  12. As SoT has said, the Drow are not a real threat. Sure they talk smack but it is Drow personality to be hyperactive and honestly I'm surprised that they have not started something in Nocturnus a long time ago. As an old saying goes, idle hands is the devils workshop, or something like that... There are a good many Drow in Barqa and I get worried citizens always coming to me about Drow saying they are going to conquer Barqa one day. I am not worried in the least for 2 reasons: 1. There are simply not enough Drow remaining in Historica to actually be a threat. 2. I know a bit more about the goings on of the drow than probably most others in Historica. The drow are no longer a united force as they were thousands of years ago but are divided into small factions. And I must also give the drow credit for helping me in my exploration of the Siccus Badlands. If I had to chose one companion to accompany me on my adventures, it would probably be a drow. I will soon enlighten you, my fellow guildmates of Kaliphlin on my latest discovery in the Dune Sea. It is Drow related... Perhaps some of you remember the painting of the drider I shared with you a while back? The first lead didn't pan out and the cave was a dead end but this time I am sure I have found something that will lead me into more knowledge of such a being.
  13. As others have said already, your builds keep improving. IMO the colors are perfect and I really like the rockwork. The angle of the bridge adds realisticity to the scene. Excellent job!
  14. It is with great sadness that I have learned of Quinn's passing. Although I have never personally met her, I have heard stories of her time here in Kaliphlin and I know Historica won't be quite the same without her. Edit: Great use of those hairpieces btw... My only suggestion would to maybe ad more raised areas in the distance (mayby 1 plate high?) to make it look like a more used burial field... just a suggestion....
  15. There is a rule that you must use all 5 points and you have 0.05 points left... Just saying...
  16. Could I just get a sneak peak of the next challenge??? Just one peak??? Seriously though, I got another inspiration but am worried about working on a free build and then wish that I had used it for the next challenge. I already have my castle project so I don't really want to add any more projects than I have to.... but this new idea is coming along well in my mind...
  17. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the story! Great job!
  18. Nice entry! I think yours is the only one where the guardians are good/friendly... a unique twist I like the chasm and all the other little vignettes this entiry is comprised of.
  19. Nice job! I especially like the full view picture. It puts the excellent rock skulpting in better focus I think.
  20. Nice job! I really like the ruined tower with the broken staircase!
  21. I totally agree... I think my favorite parts are the stone technique you used on the house, your character designs (I thought I was brilliant by combining the blue minicape on white cape and I come on here and see you already did it), the awesome landscaping as usual and the nice use of those horible hard to find a use for Atlantis key holders. The only thing that disconcerts me is that white claw... I keep thinking I'm seeing the skeleton squid from Gateway of the Squid. I think if the claw was the same lime green color as the head it would look much better but that just is my opinion...
  22. Thanks again for the comments! If it was an army of axemen it might have been another story...but alas they were only swordmen
  23. I had a really hard time voting from so many great entries. I wish we had to vote only from the four winning guild entries but here goes... 7) zcerberus = 1 10) lisqr = 1 11) Cara = 1 16) Basiliscus = 1 19) Angeli = 1
  24. That statue is truly epic! The story was entertaining as well!
  25. I agree! The island and Roc nest were awesome as well.
