Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Mike S replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
With the new black horses coming out in the LoTR sets which I plan to list as "Nightmares", I went back to my Hitchhikers guide and realized that I have not listed any dinos which have begun to be used in several Kaliphlin MOCs of late. I would like your opinion on what I should list them as, their original names or do you want to suggest new "Kaliphlin" names for them? -
WOW! I knew that my friend Kucuk was a good archer but it is still a little hard to believe he is now the Champion Archer of Historica! Now I just hope that I am as succesful in my search for the water crystal...

Greetings fellow members of Kaliphlin, I write this to update you on my search for the water crystal. I have been following a lead that turned out to be invalid. (That is a tale for aother day) But all is not lost as at the end of that lead I met a mysterious person who has offered to help me find the actual spot of the water crystal. I hope this is not an invalid lead too... But as I write this, we travel deeper into a primeval jungle and I have seen signs of a lost civilization so I am full of hope. My guide has informed me we are near. My main concern right now is to make it back before the deadline. I have been enjoying news of the archery contest in Mpya Stedor and am happy to hear my friend Kucuk is doing well. From what I hear the contest has turned out to be real success inspite of the bad weather. I hope the shipment of Mitgardian beer I had sent has arrived undamaged. PS: My personal portrait painter has been trying to paint a picture of our progress but because I am pressed to make the deadline, he does not get much time to work on it. Hope this message finds all of you in good health and fortune, Mikel Kalores -
Well great minds think alike I guess. My water gaurdians are man eating plants howbeit different design and I also used the leafy plant shells (if thats what they are called) as vegetation in my jungle. Other than that our MOCs are quite different. What better gaurdian to stand the test of time and still remain in the same location as a plant? Great job!

Too bad for Kucuk Kartal... I guess the ogre's breath was just too much for him. edit: I had thought my second messenger had brought the finals but to my delight Kucuk was able to focus and made it to the next round! I wish I had been able to be present at the contest myself but due to my exploration and search for the water crystal I was not able to make it at this time. However the first messenger let me know that beer was running low so I have requested two shiploads of Mitgardia's finest beer from Barqa to Mpya Stedor.

w.i.p. moc destroyed while moving to new apartment

That was a really awesome build! Too bad you didn't get more pics. Good luck on the remake... -
A fine song Jakon! I think you should be awarded the title of Composer of Mitgardia for hosting this challenge and encouraging the arts in Historica.

Hello I'm from Kaliphlin! I am active builder (although I do not have much completed as yet)
What I like about GoH and what brought me here was the community setting where I could place my castle MOCs in a world populated by others. I'm not sure what the plan for GoH is but I truly would like to see it turn into the LEGO version of something like the D&D universe or Conan's Hyborian Age universe where people continue to add to the world for years.
As far as improvement, there will always be things to improve but I feel that the leaders are doing very well. This survey is a testament to that in my opinion.

Lovely scene Gabe! Scubacarrot - that wall is looking awesome! A hearty welcome to you, Kirk Valentine! I've been busy planning my challenge 3 entry so haven't been too active on here of late. Still on a tight schedule so I thought it would be more beneficial to the guild if I spent more time working on the project instead of chatting here. Unfortunately for me, all my projects end up usually being very large and I am always redesigning to incorporate new techniques so I sometimes feel a bit guilty that I only have 1 MOC presented to the guild at present. Hopefully the quality will make up for the quantity... -
Congratz NiceMarmot for the well deserved win. If you had not been the first to post, I know I for one would probably have overlooked the challenge. robuko - your entry was a literary gem as usual. Kudos for Kaliphlin!

I love how you managed to include so many colors in the buildings. You have given me some ideas for my castle! Fantastic MOC!

You guys never cease to amaze me with new piece usage! That is a brilliant use of those hair pieces!

Sorry Hinckley, my excitement got the best of me. Reprimand noted. No more quoting of pictures. -

I agree with Sirens-Of-Titan- thanks for posting this! This makes me want to see what is on the line for Series 8. And there can never be enough fantasy characters. The possibilities are endless. -

Arom and Nira Alled, welcome! Christoph and robuko, I had been thinking about building a half circle as you suggested (sort of a cutaway view, I suppose). As for the egg shells, I really had not thought of them being egg shells until Angeli mentioned it. I had planned to use them for the gaurdian (which had nothing to do with eggs) and had just set them there as part of the project. But as I have got comments on them perhaps I will consider changing over to the egg idea... or maybe not. Also the "flags" on the windows are actually shutters. Itried brown but I didn't think they looked well with the brick but I can try black. -
I never dreamed that a red castle could look so amazing! Those ceilings, floors and doors are awesome!

They do look like eerily glowing eggshells don't they? Makes me think of something from the upcoming Prometheus movie but it wasn't really my intent. Hopefully when I'm finished it will look more like I envision it. Here is a LDD Micro of my plan: (I am thinking of a way to portray my idea without using so many bricks that this would take) -

Even though I know I have another month for challenge 3, I'm worried that I might not get it done in time. The following pics are some of the projects I've been working on: 1. Lion's Bluff Castle (Top Floor) 2. The Search for the crystal -
I must say this is a lovely MOC and if someone is sick in the desert, it looks like a comfortable place to recover!

Nice micro scale with some good techniques!

I agree! This is amazing!

That is huge! I like it especially the market along the inside of the wall. The spinning wheel is also awesome!
