  1. Nice little tree house. I would love to see this idea in context with other trees around it. Maybe you will expand this scene in the future?
  2. Great color contrasts and nice build!
  3. Thanks again everyone for your comments! Yes you were right. At first I was thinking that Skislandor would have different building styles depending on what other guild it was near, but it just didn't look right on the map. I agree it looks much better now.
  4. Beautiful MOC! I really like the stonework and roof design.
  5. Nice entry! Actually one of my favorites. I like how you presented the three levels. Really cool!
  6. Here is my entry: Guild name: Skislandor – It is not known when sentient races first settled on the floating rock islands that are now known to collectively be called Skislandor. It is also not known what force holds the giant rocks up in the sky. However it must be noted that the rock islands only float over open water. The rocks themselves vary in size from a few cubic meters to several million cubic meters. Guild location: Skislandor is a group of clustered islands in the sky over the sea south of Nocturnus and east of Kaliphlin. (credit to Thrashq4g for map outline) Capitol and Ruler: Qili is the capitol of Skislandor and is made up of a cluster of large floating rocks. It is located above a large group of islands off the western coast of Kaliphlin Skislandor is ruled by Asho Kalani who has only recently ascended to the throne after his father, Akos Kalani abdicated due to old age. Unique characteristics: resilient at great heights, excellent at taming flying creatures. Color Scheme: Blue and Yellow – blue representing the sky and yellow representing the sun which due to Skislandor's location, is usually unobstructed throughout the day. (PHOTO: Skislandor soldiers displaying Skislandor's colors) Leader: Asho Kalani leads the scattered colonies that make up the Skislander Guild. He is a new leader and hopes to end Skislandor's age old policy of isolation. However many of the leading houses oppose his plans to place Skislandor on the map. Kalani believes that Skislandor cannot remain in isolation forever and that now is the right time to begin incorporating itself in the affairs of the rest of Historica. (PHOTO: Asho Kalani) (PHOTO: Akos Kalani, Asho's father, former Lord of Skislandor) 20x20 vignette showing the “flavor” of Skislander. Civilians of Skislandor spend their lives flying from one sky island to another. Their main occupation is raising and taming flying creatures. Dragon breeding is one of the most popular vocations at the present time. Architecture is light as life in the Skislandor guild is mostly nomadic. (PHOTO: Floating Rock with civilian dragon breeders)
  7. Thanks guys! Finished updating the first post so I think my entry is complete now. @Ecclesiastes- Skislandor defense would take place in the sky resulting in sky battles so unless someone has a large aerial army to rival Skislandor's, Skislandor defense is quite simple.
  8. I have to say that LoC is now near the top of my interested in list of 2013 Themes... Can't wait to see more pictures.
  9. Awesome work as usual Gabe! Really like the cloud and rain with the volcano backdrop....
  10. Welcome to Kaliphlin! Looking forward to your free build... @Kai NRG- Nice map and guild story!
  11. Well it looks like you completed my ideas...
  12. Thanks for your work on the wiki! And did I mention those maps? Finally a detailed map of all of Historica.....
  13. Nice little farm! This MOC has a lot of details going for it... keep it up!
  14. Nice job! I really like how you built the tower on a rock arch above the river!
  15. I love the condensed yet detailed feel of this build. Its one of those builds you seem to find something new every time you look at it!
  16. Finally I see this completed! I love the castle, brilliant and unique design! I usually am really impressed with the colors you put in your builds. However this time, it might be a bit too much. Perhaps it is how you meant it though, being an "evil" friends spell in which case it perfectly portrays the emotion of "too much".
  17. Nice! Do the 4 colored statues (microfigs) represent any heroes in particular?
  18. Very nice! I especially like the roof design.
  19. So much to like about this but the lime green base (swamp) sure sets this apart!
  20. As Angeli said, I think this is more abstract and not meant to be studied in detail. When you first glance at it, it looks like an birds eye view of a woodland tower (how I imagine you meant it to be) with the textures and colors blurring together to form nature's random charm. So all in all, I think this is a wonderful little Lego creation!
  21. IMO there are three reasons why people join GoH and therefore quite a few reasons why they end up leaving. 1. contests- this category most likely sees the greatest drop in members. After participating in one or two challenges it is obvious that unless you are extremely creative and have a fairly large supply of bricks (living near a Lego store with a brick wall helps) you don't have a chance at winning. Possible changes to retain this category is implementing a division and ranking system that would enable members to compete against other members within their skill/brick piece range. 2. contributing to a persistent world- this category would probably see the second greatest drop in members. Due to boredom or lack of Lego bricks to create their vision, some of these members move on to other things. Possible changes to retain this category would be to encourage LDD. 3. improving their building skills- members who join for this reason (note this is the main reason why GoH was started) are the least likely to leave. Possible changes to retain this category would be to have more and varied challenges.
  22. Very nice! You should come to Guilds of Historica and join Kaliphlin...
  23. I had nearly a week off from work and so much LEGO building planned... but ended up doing little more than a bit of sorting. Whenever I sort I always get ideas for new piece usage so I added a section to my village on Wikia where I will document ideas I have as "rumors of the village folk". I'm curious to see how many ideas actually make it past prototype stage, haha. All "rumors" are actual builds that have been started in some shape or form, whether in LDD or real brick. Rumors at the castle will be real brick builds. So here is the first rumor- "Sumthin fishy goin on up at dat thar castle. Aasim, da lad dat delivers fresh milk to da castle said one of the maids told him dat her fatha said dat da Shiek is buildin a movin statue up thar. He called it... hmm, a gamil... no, a... hmm... what did he call it? Oh yas! he called it a golem." ~ Abbas A'hd @NM- Here are some architectural types that say "Kaliphlin" to me. Unfortunately I don't have enough tan bricks to convert to LEGO.
  24. Well I do have a MOC coming soon... but its based in Barqa and is the reason for the move... and finally I'm not sure if it is a good MOC- more destruction going on than anything else... but I will let you judge when I am able to post it.
  25. House of Kalores is moving to the point on the map just east of Qarkur in the cove. It hasn't been taken has it? I'm naming the town Adskhan. Reason forthcoming....
