  1. Wouldn't I have to change my mind with no warning for it to be considered a flip-flop? I think by definition this is actually the exact polar opposite. To be clear: My opinion on Diane has been changed; I've had no reason to change opinion on you. So while a conspiracy between you and her is now extremely doubtful, your PR fishing action from Day 2 did not become any less suspect by association (or in this case - disassociation). Since you bring it up, I'd might as well formalize it so there is no further confusion. Vote: Dr. James/Tariq J While I am worried of being tunnel visioned, there really is no one else jumping out at me as scum. I thought you and Riley/Jluck were trying to peel me off Dr. James Day 3. I no longer believe that you (i.e. Diane) were.
  2. Hi all. Sorry I haven't been active. I've picked my chin up and popped in when I saw we've had some action today. Then I tried to catch up on things and got a tad lost. Just for my clarity: LMF/Benson has claimed town blocker (to avoid a possible lynch) LMF/Benson claims to be in contact with the investigator Bob/Bob claims to be in contact with the investigator There may be a Strongman and/or Commuter according to LMF/Benson, though this is 2nd/3rd hand info. (No offense LMF, but it seemed like you were just throwing out roles from Mafiapedia at random there to see if anyone believed you, so I am not sure what to make of these.) Assuming I got that all correct, I am willing to take a leap of faith and discount LMF/Benson from my suspicions going forward. I've never really suspected Bob, so no big change there. And for the record, while I have no proof to share, I no longer strongly suspect Fhomness/Diane, and that unfortunately pokes a big hole in my previous Tariq theory. I still don't trust him mind you, it's just I am not as sure of his scumminess as I was previously. The rest of you are all in a bucket marked "potential moles". I was going to vote Tariq/Dr. James now in case I don't check back in, but I don't want to be pigheaded about this and I'm forcing myself to be more active. So my vote is still outstanding... but it essentially still Dr. James.
  3. I'll have to parrot what was aid before: those birds are wonderful. The cooled lava flow on the left was also quite inspired. Great job 'Monkey!
  4. I That was a great introduction backed up with an interesting build. I got a great SWTOR vibe from it. Nice job Pombe. PS: not in micro scale or comedic. I’m stunned! :)
  5. I did pm jluck yesterday. I told him the same thing I will tell you now. I wasn't sure if he was scum or town, but that was brilliant move. He put out an accusation on me based on absolutely nothing (I'm literally being voted for because someone's “spider sense is tingling”), but I was skewered either way. If I came out to defend myself, I was being overly aggressive and suspicious; if I did nothing I was hiding. Heck, I posted nothing between then and now and I have been upgraded to 'desperate'. My silence is deafening! Sheer genius play. Except after a day to reflect on things, it is not really is it. It is simply another example of how broken this game group is. What follows is a rant. It is long and not really about this specific game at all, but it draws examples from it and needs to be said. Not the ideal forum for this granted but I want everyone's attention. Since I have already seem to be in the spotlight, I might as well leverage that for a purpose. It is also likely very counter-productive for me game-wise, but I am beyond caring about that atm. I have only played one other game of Mafia on EB, but I have watched a few and read back through a far more. It always seem to be the same players making it past day 3 and into the end game, with some outliers. I figured it was just player experience that allowed them pick out subtle behaviour clues and clear newer players out. But now being on the receiving end of this I realize that is complete bunk. Vets stick together in this group and newbs are “ignored”. I used quotes because it is not strictly that no one acknowledges them, it is they play around them. My example is that both Kristel and myself have been on Tariq. Kristel from Day 1, and me as of yesterday. We detailed our proof as best we could and during that time the only acknowledgement of the argument (PR fishing) is a throw away excuse from Tariq himself. Not one peep from anyone else about what we put forward. I'm willing to bet had I done what he did that I'd be up against the wall in a flash, but Tariq is a long time player so everyone seems to just ignore it as an honest mistake. It is two-tier thinking at it worst. Today I simply feel like I was invited in order to make up the numbers. The vets are happy because they can vote off the newbs in the first few days and then they can play by themselves for the part that matters. Us newer players are stuck bewildered, wondering why no PMs us, no one believes us, and no one pays attention to us. I have too much self-pride to simply suicide like JamesN just did, or Foreman did last game, or simply quit abruptly like Drunkhok did in my only other game played. While I am frustrated, it wouldn't be fair to the people who are actually trying to play evenly. However I won't be back for a third game either. Now I'm assuming I have instantly upgraded myself from desperate to Satan incarnate, but it is what it is. As detailed previously, my vote is on Tariq for the Day 2 PR fishing we caught him doing. Vote Dr. James/Tariq Next on my list going forward is fhmoness (Diane) for starting the “he feels funny” train that I believe is an effort to peel me off Tariq. I believe these two are a scum team and I won't be deviating unless another scum is uncovered. And I finally draw your attention to the absence of LadyK. If you wanted another blatant example of two-tier thinking, there it is.
  6. The players JamesN voted for himself, not who voted for him.. His actions were so erratic I personally can't read much into anything but I think it's day 3 and we are somehow still tunnel visioned on this guy, and all it does is take away attention from others. Now for the second time today I have someone with a "feeling" that I am scum. I state facts and openly explain my rationale and suspicions, but it is countered with "doesn't feel right". I could continue to address stuff like this, but it would be like shouting into the wind. My emotional word count idea from Day 1 is more interesting now though.
  7. Hurray! We're special! Seriously though, this is a HUGE help. Between this and some unorthodox solutions we have been feverishly working on internally, we may be able to untie this Gordian Knot. More to follow...
  8. Hi Diane. Um... what? You're argument for me being scum is: I didn't vote for a lay-up lynch i didn't believe in of what turned out to be a townie. I do admit I was not 100% mind you. You can check back. I stayed on my vote for Dr. James/TarigJ who acted scummy with some PR fishing Day 2, and even self-admitted as much. I'm "middle of the road", whatever that means. Should I be going all Lewis/JamesN manic or simply disappear like Kraster/LadyK to be less scummy in your eyes? Keep in mind I play as much as my schedule allows. Barry/Kristel had been on Dr. James since Day 1, and he didn't make it to Day 3. I joined in on TariqJ Day 2 and now I get an out of the blue accusation lobbed at me. This has all the makings of a peel attempt by a scum buddy to get me to back off her team mate. You are both on notice now.
  9. I do too. But the sole reason for the db glut is the ludicrous returns from ship trading. Why that hasn't been fixed is beyond me. Catch-22. You can close your forts, and then get raided as an undefended colony and pay anyway. Lol. That's the big joke. My brother and I built C.Bay up in order to make money to buy ships and be pirates. The story was to help us try to enjoy it, but colonies are essentially a boring 'job' that requires building stuff that didn't inspire you and more energy completing paperwork than they are worth. Heck, they don't even pay you a salary anymore for doing it! Frankly, the reason I am one of few players not freaked out by this turning an income into an expense is because I am no longer responsible for one. "I've got no strings to hold me down / To make me fret, or make me frown / I had strings, but now I'm free / There are no strings on me."
  10. While I am happy for all the mayor’s who lucked out, I’ll be giving up more than half my land properties to help out Roadmonkeytj keep Charlatan Bay running now that he got hit with a 350db bill overnight. That leaves me with about 40dbs per mrca (ie peanuts). So in the event of a bad naval engagement, I’ll either be without ships or bankrupt, and I’ll move on to another game. That’s the reality of it. I personally enjoy the risk, but others don’t. I expect our player base to continue to shrink unfortunately.
  11. I won't mince words - the last hour sucked. Officer Lewis vacuumed up all the attention/votes making it an easy day for the scum moles, and then we lost two town CTU in the bargain. It feels like a perpetual day 1 almost. Hopefully we can get back to business today and make some actual progress. The people with JamesN votes have my attention now. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to the hall closet - and certainly NOT to relieve myself in a potted plant because I still can't use the washroom due to Kiefer's Jack's washroom ban, and I have been doing the pee-pee dance for a while now.
  12. @Bregir @Phred @Legostone What is the proper procedure to transfer property ownership (and yield) from a player to a colony or faction? Between my brother and I, we have nine properties we want to pass over to Charlatan Bay in order to help keep it afloat financially (because the new rules essentially bankrupted it overnight). Not complaining about the rule changes btw - us Sea Rats are just scrambling to come up with ways to make sure forts are paid for.
  13. Whoa ho ho. You guys just turned the game on its head. I love it! I hope colony owners will be able to turn forts off though - those are are some high costs for players caught unawares.
  14. Slept in after a very late board game night and.. uh... what the heck happened this morning? /head scratch As a potential lynchee I don’t want go and honestly have been gripping a bit tighter since my bonehead move, but objectively I think it would be pretty hilarious if a triple lynch happened. I’m sticking on Tariq though. Still only truly scummy behaviour we’ve seen.
  15. As promised: Vote: Dr. James, Nurse (Tariq J) While Lewis/JamesN has been a little unconventional by this communty's standard of game play, he also has been pushing hard so I've put his name into the "further study" pile rather than over-react. Fhomess' argument on Alfred/Zepher is strongly based on their interpretation of the tone of the accusation and a changing of opinion as more info was uncovered - a bit thin but I am keeping on open mind and will review back tonight/tomorrow. I don't get the Legomonorail vote reasoning at all - I have discounted that as too farfetched (sorry JamesN). In my eyes TariqJ has done the most overt scummy action of anyone to date, so that is where I am voting as everything else has been intangible. I'm actually a little shocked there has been no follow-up on this by others btw. BUT....jluck might have the most interesting tidbit so far. Not a smoking gun, but the best theory to date on why scum chose skinner/mediumsnowman as their target. Hopefully someone can leverage that into a positive.
  16. Whoa!!! Wait a minute now! Either this is just some general brainstorm banter or it’s a subtle prod for our investigator (I assume we have someone like that as we normally do) to get claim information out and potentially risk revealing themselves in the process. With all the PMs reportedly flying about this looks a lot like PR fishing by scum to me. And if it walks like a duck... My phone browser doesn’t let me see post signatures and I don’t remember character names, but consider this a vote notification on Tariq j ( Nurse Whatshername). I’ll do it in the proper syntax when I get home to my PC.
  17. Yep. That was a wonderful brain fart moment by me. Just checking in over lunch and Kotz has let me know that I have a penalty incoming. From now on I am leaving my typos to stand as is. I apologize in advance for the occasional unintelligible gibberish.
  18. I'm off to the office in a minute (just enjoying my morning tea) so I can't be too verbose, but I will say I am glad we're starting to get more people talking in earnest. We need discussions to help us make proper decisions at this stage A few quick hits from me:. Huh?! I allow me to say the we agree to disagree on this. It is more akin to a running joke than anything. Incidentally Officer Lewis, going through past lives (aka games) is a great resource to help you make decisions on trends, but this community is rather concerned with meta-gaming. I'm not saying you shouldn't (it is your gameplay after-all and a tactic I have used myself privately), but posting that info is going to be frowned upon by some. You and me both. There is a bad bug going around. Feel better! So a this self-declared fluff post from me. I realize and admit that, but it is all I have time for this morning. I vow to be more useful and put down my actual thoughts tonight/this weekend when I have more free time. edit: So this is a ...
  19. This is a bit harsh for a game don't you think? The term for "town" changes with the setting of each game, and we are all able to adapt to such a little thing. Heck, I even had some fun with it. No one is trying to trip you up with word games. Frankly, this strikes me as a distraction argument.
  20. This one guy in the motor pool always wore clown shoes when he was getting a <sputters out coffee in shock> Skinner is dead!? Dang. —-/—-/—- ooc FYI: we had a nasty snowstorm last night, so my work day is already a disaster. I won’t be on until this evening, and I’ll try to catch up with things then.
  21. I think your sunset pic turned out pretty good to be honest, and the ship is quite nice. I like the effort you made with the yardarms. Rather than invest in a new camera, consider a couple of cheap reading lamps. I think having light sources from different angles to reduce/eliminate shadow will help a lot.
  22. The Lord of Whispers has promoted Captain Katrin DeKruger (cmd: Hand of Fate) to acting Commodore of the Yellow Skull Pirate Fleet, while he is busy with other endeavours. DeKruger was plucked from the docks of Breshaun by the pirate lord years ago, where she had run with the wild packs of orphaned and abandoned children. While not a kind guardian, it was seen to that she was tutored sufficiently and joined cruises at a young age. The target of the occasional rumour of witchcraft and sorcery by the crew, she rose up the ranks thanks to a hard sense of loyalty and a surprising ferociousness when the least bit threatened. Quite amicable in port, she demands strict execution of orders at sea and has the requisite fortitude to keep the disparate reaver captains in line. This has earned her the nickname "The Cold Mistress".
  23. Anyway, this one time the Deputy Head of the <redacted> Department of <redacted> drunk off his <redacted> starts singing along to the Village People and then whips out his <redacted> claims he is still married to that flamenco dancer. ===/===/=== Time is obviously running out and I have some bad news. My theory has proved no help in making a decision on a day 1 vote (which I guess means it fails as a theory). My thinking was that since murder is an emotional driven crime, I'd keep track the usage of emotionally charged words; even though the moles have not done anything yet I'd hope their nerves would subconsciously make them communicate in that vein. I'd do a count of the usage of those words and pick my vote based on the highest number. Problem of course is that I didn't take into account role-playing. It's messed up my count royally as I try and deduce what is real and what is acting. So I'm tossing that plan into the waste bin. Right now I have my "wake up" vote sitting on Riley (jluck). Since there is no serious reason backing it, and no one is jumping out at me as truly suspicious (some ruffled feathers mind you), I'm simply going to let it sit where it is. Bob, I'm a TOWN/CTU/GOOD GUY too. Didn't want you to feel left out.
  24. First thing that popped into my mind too. But having bought that TIE fighter set for myself this Christsmas, I actually consider buying another. The ship is a nice looking build by itself, and the minifigs are a bonus. As for this MOC, I really like the "circular" crate design (yoink... idea stolen), and while not a fan of vertical rock work your terrain looks great in this case as it represents a cohesive soil.
