Well awhile ago something on the classic-space forums really inspired me. Member Sylvi posted her Dutch Division dropship, and while the main MOC caught my eye, the thing that really got me was her little fighter. It just SCREAMED "swoosh me!" But alas I didn't have it :'-( So recently I got around to making one of my own, but I wanted to personalize it a LITTLE. It still looks a lot like hers, I made some (in my opinion) significant changes. She achieved some great MOC with a little sacrifice of functionality for asthetics. Mine may not look as nice, but it has more little features :-P Anyway, here's my version. I passed on the bright orange color for a nice dark green theme (green being my favorite color *wub*). It isn't as prominent as hers, though mine has been toned down on purpose. Hers was a fighter, mine used to be a racer, which was converted to a light interceptor by the Rebellion. I don't care what universe you're in, the rebellion will always be understaffed and underfunded. What better for a free ship than an old racer upgraded with some weapons? Standard view here. The two things in the front are a pair of LIGHT repeating lasers. When I say light, I mean light. This baby is used for taking down other fighters and maybe some exposed offensive weaponry ONLY, it isn't meant to do heavy damage to capital ships. Anything heavier (even a missile launcher) would get in the way of the delicate balance of thrusters that are integrated throughout to give this racer it's famous maneuverability. The holes on the sides of the fighter were used for breaking thrusters when it was a racer, and can still be used as such. When not in use, they provide a method for airflow to keep the wind resistance down. Here's the underside. You can see the landing gear, two thruster gratings near them, and two, more powerful maneuvering thrusters up front. The exposed antigrav array is arranged in a triplet, to maximize stability and coverage. One thing I just don't like is the use of skis as landing gear. So I made my own which can roll in and out to the sides like wheels to make the transition flow easier. Here's one of the areas I fixed. In the original there was no way for the minifig to get in besides to just remove the cockpit. I tried letting it fold forwards but it got in the way of the surrounding plate after a certain angle. The same happens with the back. How to fix it? Make both the front and the back open a little bit so the pilot can climb in and out (I know you'll appreciate that, sinner :-D) And here's the rebel pilot, an imperial defector: backshot I can't stress this enough that the design was not entirely mine, it was a modification of one I saw from someone else because I *wub* it so much. I hope you guys like some of my modifications, C&C welcome of course, I know this thing can be a lot better :-D

This is starting to remind me of something :-|

Interview, With the TFOL with the Microphone...
Starwars4J replied to Stauder's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nah, you get over that misconception pretty fast X-D -
I want to open it, not blow it up :-|

Listen, security is my business, these people have a story that seems to check out well enough. They haven't gone missing like some crew members...they are here, risking their lives trying to save us. They are saviors. Why won't they radio for help? That's a very good point. Skipper, would you mind giving me a tour of your boat?
-
Normally when people go out to fish, they're out for months at a time. That means occasionally they will run into some bad weather. They just use nets to catch the fish so it doesn't really matter all that much. I saw this on the Discovery Science Channel :-$ Why would someone charged with guarding the containers be told HOW TO OPEN THEM? I'm just here to make sure nobody else opens them, not to open them myself! It's a common practice done to keep security from turning crooked and stealing millions in cargo. It's also done to make sure that for higher-end cargo, even if we're captured and tortured we'd be of no help opening the lock. No! >:-( !! *rubs his bum* Meh, seems suspicious that he'd walk away like that at a time like this. I think instead of accusing our rescuers, captain, you need to start thinking about scottie...
-
Okay :'-) Maybe they don't want us on their boat because the first thing we did was talk about shooting them? *wacko* As for how they happened to be out here, they are a fishing boat, and fishing boats tend to go out to sea for up to months at a time, it's not really that weird to me, they just happened to be in the right (or wrong) place at the right (or wrong) time. It's better than nobody being able to hear your distress call right? And as for it not going though...why would you make a distress call on a radio that was already smashed? And how do we know it's container number 6? Which one is that? Listen I'm security here so if someone's threatening the safety and contents of container number 6 I need to know everything that's going on, and stop them. If that is the case I need to meet with someone NOW who can think of some way to open it.
-
W-what do you want to hear? I already told you I don't know what's in those containers! I wouldn't hide anything from you, your survival means MY survival! We could all die to that vicious monster out there, I'll tell you anything I want but I'm telling you right now that I don't know ANYTHING about those containers! C-c'mon guys, you don't want to do this...
-
What are you talking about? I was assigned here by corporate, you know, the people that hired you? I'm here to protect the cargo and people on board, why the hell would I keep something from you when I could die just like any of you? You said we were friends, you said you liked me, so why are you acting like this? I just want to go 127.0.0.1 :'-(
-
Er, oh, you were talking to me? I thought you were talking to scottie :-$ I'm just security, remember? I was told to make sure nothing happened to any of the containers, but I wasn't told what was in them.
-
I have hair on my chest! In fact I have three :-$ But wait, what's this about whiskey? Won't that stuff get you drunk? Oh, and Skipper, sorry about not answering your question! I was away for a bit. Yes, someone broke our radio and stuff, so we had no choice but to just sit here! Personally I think it was Scottie so he could have some alone time with the captain :-| But I'm glad you're here! So you should come to my cabin so we can watch those videos we talked about, sounds good?

Sounds like fun! What are you guys drinking? Dr. Pepper? That's what we drink at LAN parties and conventions. Count me in! *pound* Did I do it right?

Thanks :-) Those aren't nerds :-| I mean maybe the green-haired dude and the chick in glasses, but that woman with the red hair is a babe 8- -
Staunch; a Resolution medium transport on a recon mission
Starwars4J replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I missed this one too :-$ Oh the humanity For the Staunch: -I love that cockpit. it's something too many people don't put enough thought into, but yours is very original! -Landing gear! :'-) -The sensor package looks great! Maybe greeb it up a bit more? It's just great, there's so much about it that just meshes well, the cockpit is definitely the highlight. Maybe something more in the way of directional thrusters though? That's something I've been doing lately that i had neglected for awhile. For the crew...of course you have a fighter jock. *scoff* the jocks get all the cool jobs :'-( I love that robot by the way, it's so old-school in appearance it's friggin fantastic. You almost expect him to make an appearance on Astroboy or something. The sensor array...well... 8-| So the next part The food box is a neat little thing, nit's a shame you didn't show it off before! Poor merman :'-( The drop box is just slick, I love it! Any chance you could take a picture from the back to show what the hinge looks like? What if I bribe you with cute cat pictures? And what the hell is with this fighter? How'd you make so many neat little things out of those limited parts? *wacko* For something that size it needs either a smaller cockpit or a larger body, it just doesn't look like it has the machinery needed to power it, ya know? Also the wings are a bit flimsy...maybe beef them up a bit? This is really amazing though, from such a limited number of parts I'd be lucky to make even one of the things you did. I'm always in awe of people who build MOCs from such a small supply and this time is no exception, great job! -
When Mutant Dinosaurs Attack the College of Engineering
Starwars4J replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Why didn't you ever tell me this was here? I can't believe I missed this *wacko* First of all stop being so self-critical, I love these! There are lots of ideas that I didn't notice at the time of the contest that I might want to erm..."borrow" :-$ Fighter: I love this thing...I guess it isn't as much a fighter as a hovering gun platform, or am I misunderstanding the use of those turbines? I mean I see it has one in the back, but was it meant to be fast? Either way I *wub* it. The fact that the cockpit rotates like that is phenomenal, and that little gun on the swivel-thingy at the bottom is just fantastic. Which set did that come in? I've been looking for some bley ones 8-| Maybe some sort of chain-gun might work for that a little better, the gun itself seems small compared to the rest of the ship. Nice greebs too, and the colors actually aren't too bad on this one *y* Mech: Okay, the colors on this one are a little distracting, but it's okay! We all still love you! Well except for jipay but that's okay :'-) I like the legs on this, the design of the separate "toe" on the foot is actually pretty intriguing 8- -
Nothing wrong with that :-$ And here I didn't even know it was lost 8-|
-
That sounds dangerous, what if it's an explosive? My boss wouldn't be happy if I blew up the ship... *wacko*

I stand by the idea that being a Star Wars fan and being a Star Trek fan are mutually exclusive :-P You can tell which I am by my username 8-| I also dislike Star Trek for personal reasons, so this was a stretch for me :-D Brickster's a dead man >:-)
-
Good idea, and welcome aboard! I have a lot to show you ;-) You never saw Star Trek? Prepare for a treat! Thank god for emergency DVDs
-
I was making a joke with that :-P But the captain needs to make up his mind. Some times he calls me a nerd, others a geek. I think he's a scizo |-/
-
Yes...you're right. Now we need to re-assess the situation. Do you two have any tools? We have these two mysterious containers on board that we can't seem to open, there might be something in there that would help us survive. You guys have anything that can help? :-/
-
No... :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( I...I've been with PLENTY of women! CHEERLEADER women. VULCAN CHEERLEADER women :'-( :'-( And guys...come on, these are the only other living people that we've seen in awhile. We're dead in the water with a monster about killing people and no way to get home. They have a boat, they have guns, we're not in a position to start making demands of them! If they wanted to, they could leave at any minute and we'll all DIE! Let's just let them keep their stuff and help us? I don't want to die :'-(

Member Titles - Questions and Answers
Starwars4J replied to languages's topic in Forum Information and Help
Well then it's settled :-| :-P I agree, I don't think there's anything wrong with the title system. It doesn't mean you're better than anyone for having one, it's just a fun thing people do. Some of the younger members just need to get that idea across |-/
