It's impossible to say because there is a huge difference between what Bionicle was and what Bionicle turned into.
I love Bionicle 2001, but 2003 forward was just crap.
It's not just BIONICLE that's been hurt by LEGO's cheapification of parts. I noticed a lot of system parts have had a less consistent color- as in, if you have a lot of brown pieces, you'll notice that some are lighter and darker than they should be. I never noticed that in the older sets. Stickers are the result of cheapification as well.
I didn't even buy BIONICLE since that change occurred. I'll see how much I mind the sockets when I get Glatorian.
I didn't realize BIONICLE had issues with balls.
I wish there were more retro reviews on EB like this- there are a lot of amazing old sets out there! We should all team up and review all of the old classics.
I voted Ice Station Odyssey because I'm partial to Ice Planet and my other choice, the Intercept base, is getting way too many votes. (yeah, it was good, but not THAT good)
EDIT: Oh my, topic revival. My bad.
I love retro reviews. This is a good set, but honestly I was never a big M-Tron fan. I doubt I'd ever get this one, given the boring minifig and huge abundance of moving parts.
Still a good set, and excellent review there. I'm going to review the Deep Freeze Defender as soon as it comes in the mail. :)
