  1. As I had suspected from the previously published pics, this one is easily the best of the 4 sets. Thank you very much Doc Sinister for the great review.
  2. have a check at the brickshelf link above. It does address some of these issues. don't need the slutty outfit though...:-(
  3. Naruto is definitely better. Not sure why there is a need for him to wink. Sakura.... well... Her hips are better, but legs still too fat, and the face.... I'm not saying it's easy to do..... but try making the eyes more horizontal and the hair more like her hair really is. The real problem is that she has a pointy chin, but that's hardly an option with minifig heads... dunno any way around that. This brickshelf pic has a good way of doing her hair http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/CrimsonE.../sakura-lhr.bmp
  4. Well, it seems to me that if we want real action, we need to write to the manager at TLC whose job it is to supervise Shop@Home, not to the S@H people themselves. Maybe the Ambassadors can relay our frustration to someone in TLC management. Writing to a bunch of hired lackeys and saying "you suck", is not likely to elicit action from said lackeys.
  5. Thanks Luxor! Sasuke is perfect. Sakura has become a fat housewife! I know that's the minifig proportion, but is there any way to make her less fat? Naruto's whiskers I think should be a bit higher and closer to his nose. And his eyes should be rounder. His mouth looks too mean. It's OK for Sasuke to be mean, but Naruto has a friendly and child-like smile.
  6. It does not necessarily follow that because the 90's were the best decade (obviously), the best year occurred in this decade. A case can be made that the best single year was this year (CC, UCS MF, revival of castle, etc). This is a fun poll Hollisbrick. I am not sure if a year by year poll would be as meaningful.
  7. Update: a real disappointment. 1) messed up the colours. I didn't get the red and yellow I asked for. Got blue and green instead. 2) only got 2 of the three items. No toy box for me. Only the wheeled open drawers. 3) they didn't provide the hardware required to assemble the units: no screws, no wheels, no nothing. Apparently someone just "forgot" to put them in the packaging. I called S@H and they were nice enough, and said they would ship it, but I'm out of luck on the colours because there are no more in stock anywhere. It's hard to beef too much when you get stuff at such a low price, but it certainly takes much of the joy out of buying a "bargain". If I had paid full, or even half price for this, I would have been absolutely furious. Shop @ Home has been a major disappointment this year, and this is not the only time. Several orders were only partially filled, with the rest turning up as "not in stock". Damaged boxes galore, to the point where I no longer buy big boxes from them. I get them at TRU instead, where I can make sure I get a good box and bring it home safe, even if it's extra hassle. Delays in shipping a few times. There were always issues with them, but mostly S@H used to be reliable. This is far and away the worst I have seen with them, and I've been buying stuff from them for years and years. :-(
  8. After assembly I presume.... :-D Hopefully I'll have time this w/e. I am curious about them too.
  9. I advise against it. Take it apart, clean the parts, make sure it all fits tightly. Lego sets do not need "lubrication". I have seen lubricants used for extreme applications beyond the load that the plastic was meant to carry. But for a regular set, no way.
  10. When I got home tonight, two of the ones I bought last week have arrived. You have to assemble them. They are quite heavy - hopefully will be nice and sturdy. Still have no idea where I will put them though...
  11. It was between the 1980's (peak of castle) and 1990's (peak of Technic) for me. Airtech claw rig was released 1992. In the end 1990's got because you could still get Black Monarch, Forestmen, in the early 1990's and the Royal Knights were OK in the mid-1990's. Paradisa was in the 1990's and I love those sets. And Adventurers began in the 1990s. So really it wasn't close. 1990's. No doubt all the Star Wars fans will dominate the poll and vote for the current decade..... sigh. Newbies... EDIT: Also from the 1990's are most of the great pirate sets (SBS 1989, SES 1993). So, the pirates fans that live in their own little enclave there at Piratebricks.com really have to vote for the 1990's.
  12. Dec 13. 13. 20-30$ is what it usually goes for on eBay. Bricklink has a few at 30$ http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&q...10&searchSort=N It was a nice set - it sat on our piano for a year. When the kids didn't practice diligently a word from Makuta quickly got them back on track. More useful parts that the average Bionicle set. But, sadly, you're not gonna get rich selling that one.
  14. Sorry, if these were Adventurers sets we would be panning them. Too many useless parts, not enough building, fleshies... But put Indiana Jones on the box, and all of a sudden they are wonderful. |-/ Other than a few specific things... the motorcycle parts, the Indy gear, I just don't get any excitement from this. Only the truck set looks interesting to me. The Temple..... :-X worse than the Scorpion Palace, and I bet it will cost more. Give me a good Adventurers collection any time. And I still think the audience for this is wrong. Today's 8-12 year olds have no idea who Indiana Jones is. Their parents do. signed A bitter Adventurers lover
  15. We had this in North America a couple of weeks ago. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...ic=10116&st=105 All sold out. When these first came out, at those ridiculous prices, I thought to myself...... "Even at 50% off I'll not be getting those." But at 80-90%, I indulged myself. I wonder where the heck I am going to put them though....
  16. I have a very hard time with this as well. I'm not a prolific builder these days, and when I do something decent I don't have the heart to part with it. My Gylman's Diner killed my supply of gray tiles and white everything. It's not only a parts issue, it's a space issue.... where does one put all the stuff? Very hard.
  17. Crossbow attack is a better value for the money, unless you desperately want that particular helmet. The price point is wrong for these.
  18. AgentRick - please feel free to enter your house too. Anyone and everyone should join. I haven't had much time on EB recently and have not had a chance to see the houses, but I checked them out today. Wow, very nice work. This will be a great contest, and at the end of it I think we should have a special thread where visitors to EB can come and check out the creativity and fun that EB generates. I really have to get going on mine.....
  19. Sorry Europe and Down under.
  20. OOH, that's right. It's the MOC forum. We are all MODs here. w00t! EDIT: Actually, though.... I don't see how to do it. I know I can edit the posts. But the poll does not give me any editing options. Maybe I need super duper editing powers that mere Fellows do not have. Sigh....
  21. What? Wait!!! Who said the pollls were closed. I withdraw my earlier gracious concession speech! CHECK AND SEE! My kids finally registered at EB and voted for me! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I WUZ ROBBED! I confess.... Thok and Avak are my kids. :-D I think all you need to do is simply add a message to the poll text say VOTING CLOSED - Dec 11, 2007
  22. I'm happy to concede to Sinner. His money box was clearly more worthy than my gag creation. Frankly, so were practically all of the entries - cute and fun stuff from everyone. We must continue until Thok and Avak are done posting. The first to 14 votes wins! Right?
  23. It's not just a matter of access to the HOSTS file on my PC. This was happening from multiple PCs. They would have to redirect whole swaths of internet traffic. Someone did that a few years ago, taking over part of the INTERNIC database... it was quite the thing.
  24. OK, here is the answer. It WAS REAL! Paypal actually wanted me to confirm my credit card. Bear in mind that they say that they will never ask for our credit card number, and that they will always address us by our first and last names. Neither was the case here! Apparently there was some reason to be suspicious of my account. The clue, of course, that this was real is that this was not me clicking on a button, but rather typing in the URL myself. Very hard to redirect that short of hijacking a DNS server. Further, I had to LOG ON to get this message, and they knew which credit cards I had set up to PayPal.What are the chances of someone getting that info short of a catastrophic data security failure at Paypal? You were right on Sinner. Interestingly, I sent a copy of the page and the information to spoof@paypal.com, and they told me it was a spoof!!! Idiots. The only way to figure this out was to call PayPal directly by phone (my cost for the LD call, but they were quick and efficient at least). So, lessons learned all around. Thanks to everyone who tried to help. p.s. That's Windows 2000 Maiq. The best operating system ever made by Microsoft. I refuse to use anything else. Last 2 PCs I bought I formatted the hard disk and removed XP and Vista.
  25. In the last couple of days, I have had trouble wiht Paypal. Here are the details: When I log onto Paypal, AFTER I enter my pasword, it asks for me to confirm with my full credit card number Now, bear in mind that this occurs AFTER I log on, and comes when I type in www.paypal.com I the URL bar. I am not clicking on any icons to get to this paypal site. I have uploaded a screenshot here. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/A...aypalscreen.jpg I cut out a bit of information from the screen, but the field in the credit card number includes the correct expiry date of my card, as well as the last 2 digits of my credit card. If someone has stolen this information from somewhere, it means there has really been a security breach already. I personally thought this was not a scam, but I am just being cautious. If this is a scam, then it
