Although I have drifted away from Technic due to the poor offerings of recent years no set can ever take the place of the Airtech Claw Rig in my heart. The most complex build, the most functionality, and the most original and creative techniques ever used in a Technic set before or since. No other set comes close.

Last WWII Modular Extension to 'Abandoned Nazi Hideout'
gylman replied to SirNadroj's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The whole MOC is quite excellent. The flames are effectively used (not too much, but they seem "alive"). If you are going for realism, I would suggest not having all these guys smile as the street burns around them and dead bodies surround them. It really is quite a "horrible" (in a good way) scene, and the smilies weaken the effect. Or perhaps the smilies were intentionally used, in which case I apologize for my obviousness. -
LOL. This may be the most one sided poll since the Galidor vs Classic Castle debate.
-
Four words: Loot bags. Xmas stockings. Seriously, if you compare these to the current generation of mini pods this set is the same or better value for the money. More parts per buck, and we can debate which models are better and which have a better part selection.

Welcome to EB. Your site looks great - clean look and some useful info. I hadn't come across that ISOGAWA Yoshihito PDF before. I'll check that out for sure. Couple of suggestions for content: 1) might want to consider a link to CS Soh's excellent info on pneumatics. http://www.fifth-r.com/cssoh1/ 2) might want to consider a link to Nicjasno. There is some good Technic stuff there. NicJasno http://www.nicjasno.com/forum/index.php Cheers. -
Before some of you you guys get all high and mighty about how Lego should run their operation, being the marketing experts you are, and with credit to the rather funny fake letter by Shadows (good one *y* ), just know that this movie tie-in is actually kinda useful to us LEGO fans because it is the excuse TLC has for release all 7 recent mini-creator sets at one time http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?S=66208-1 They had been released as all sorts of promos in the last year, but never in one promotion, not in one place. I, for one, had wanted to get most of these, but it was pretty hard to do so one at a time, 5-6 bucks at a pop, on Bricklink. Some were not available at all. I believe they will now all be available for somewhere around 25-30 bucks for the lot. That's pretty good if you ask me. And I don't have to buy a bunch of retarded cookies! K? Chill. p.s. Those of you who actually know something about marketing will have heard about something called "brand name visibility", which is especially important during the Xmas season. The purpose of one time promos is not to make direct profit, but to keep your name and product in the public mind when they are out shopping or thinking of ideas. EDIT: actually it's only 20 bucks! at Target. See topic here. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...showtopic=11275 That's a bargoon folks. All bend on knees and hail Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium as a way to get great little LEGO sets at a great price! Spend the money you save on an extra box of overpriced popcorn at the movie.

I don't get it. I've rolled up to counters with a shopping cart full of Lego on sale, and never felt the slightest twinge of self consciousness. One time I bought 200 Xpods (2 Canadian bucks for each was too good to resist). Another time I cleared out a shelf full of bruised Belville boxes on sale. Lots of visits, many different stores, I never noticed any problem. Now, asking me to buy tampons for my wife at the drug store..... different story.... :-(

Some are considerably older....

Looking for Lego Promo Signs and Displays

http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=gran7272&itemID=9128240 As good a collection of display flags you will ever see just went on sale. Prices are excellent. I have dealt with this seller previously for flags and found him excellent. So go for it! -
Wow, I would have never thought people could do so much with just 50 pieces. Excellent! Both models are clever and worthy. #1 captures the essence of steampunk better, I believe, hence my vote for it.

L2K, we all hope to grow and be better every day than the previous. Sometimes our growing up is more public than others, but we all do change over time, and hopefully for the better. I for one want you to stay at EB.

http://cgi.ebay.com/w0758-Lego-Logo-Dealer...1QQcmdZViewItem Also here. http://cgi.ebay.com/w0758-Lego-Logo-Dealer...1QQcmdZViewItem This other type of sign http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=displaysign is actually easier to find on eBay usually, although it does not seem to be available right this moment. -
You have made quite an excellent castle Doc. TLC could display your creation as a combiner of the two sets. It really is quite nice and balanced. The top view is particularly good for showing what a good job it is. Way to go! *y*

LOL. I just read the results of the Rugby score France/England in my local paper website. Naturally, I expected Yoda to be posting something. Somehow, I expected more gloating..... Congrats to the French.

Jeez guys, you are missing the best set in the lot Belville!! Look at all the parts - The oven and dishwasher, food items, gold dishes, the fancy bowl in the dining room, trans light blue wall pieces, light blue baseplates, bedspreads. Light brick in the barbeque to make it look real, an idea they stole from me of course... :-) This may be the best Belville set I have ever seen! Sorry all you he-men who only buy police stations, but Belville sets are a goldmine of rare parts, and this one is awesome. Other than that: Technic is disappointing. EDIT: as pointed out below, the good stuff tends to come with the summer release, not the initial release. Here's hoping.... Ferrari stuff is OK (the small Scudaria truck is a hit with my daughter the Ferrari freak) but not great Creator is good as usual. the mini train is great!! The police station is better than the last couple The big planes smell. The racers are typical. Don't care one way or the other about EF, SW, or Bionicle. so no comment Keep in mind we have not seen the UCS type sets that were discussed before (Taj Mahal, Town Plan, etc) But the Belville set is clearly the class of the catalog.

You may be on to something. Great Idea!

Forget this stinking set from TLC, I want Hinckie's Don't ever take that pic down!! LOL Thanks for doing that. p.s. SWMAN, what gives with the 'tude? *n*

Looking for Lego Promo Signs and Displays
gylman replied to SirNadroj's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The cost is not so bad... about 40-60 bucks each typically, excluding shipping. The cost of of a medium sized set, but the impact is very much more impressive in a "Lego Room". -

Hmm... Lasting Toys is your best bet. The other sellers are looking much further away, in Asia and Europe. Here are some of the ones I have. Just got the Adventurers Egypt from Mike today!! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/F...turersegypt.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/F...urersorient.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/F...icle1styear.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/Flags/collage.jpg The kids' Lego Room (not mine.... I have my own) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/Flags/playroom1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/gylman/Flags/playroom2.jpg Whole gallery when moderated http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=278628 I have a few others (Vikings, Police, Hospital, Firestation, Racers), but they are not for sale. I have never seen a Western one, in case you were wondering. If anyone knows of, or has, an Adventurers Amazon or Dino themed retail display flag, then contact me! ;-) X-D -
I have to say, it's a treat watching this. I was not planning to buy this set, but you are slowly starting to change my mind. Thanks for doing this for fans everywhere.

I think Lego is also continuing doing their bit against Wal-Mart. Every major store gets the occasional exclusive, some more than others. But never WalMart to my recollection. Good for TLC. Fight the man!
