1. I have enjoyed the castle reviews very much. I think reviews of old / classic sets serve a different purpose than the new set reviews. The new set review clearly are to help us decide what to buy or not. I have used them in that way, and they have saved me tons of bucks (for example, I will NOT be getting the new ISD or any of the batman sets so far except maybe the Batmobile). The reviews of oldies I think is more of a reminiscence of our earlier years, like a bunch of guys talking about their old girlfriends - who was hot and who has not, who put out and who gave you blue balls. This type of review fun just for its own sake, and the castle reviews have been funny in particular (the minifig's point of view is great). I think on occasion I will probably end up buying an old set I didn't have based on a review (I have been looking at 6079 very closely) but that's not the main point. Being "flooded with reviews" is like having too much Lego. Not really possible, but it can be a bit of a pain to store it all, although clearly truly useless reviews with fuzzy pictures are to be discouraged. News and reviews are what set Eurobricks apart from all the other general Lego sites.
2. Assuming TLC Is not losing money on any single element, I don't see why they would care if people make a model with their bricks or not. I predict a run on dark red parts :-) Sadly there are only 4 (1x2 brick, 1x2 plate, 1x1 plate, and a hat)
3. First test: 20 1x8 white bricks = 6$ Canadian = approx 0.25 US$ per brick. This is about double the best bricklink price (for new elements) second test: 128 1x2x2 transclear panels = 30$ Canadian = approx. 0.20US$ per panel. This is as good as the best bricklink price. third test: 576 dark red 1 x 2 bricks = 81$ Canadian = 0.12 US$ per brick. This is as good as the best bricklink prices and for high volume orders totally crushes bricklink sellers. No time to do more Assuming no restrictions are placed on ordering parts this way, as this thing growns, there may be a problem for bricklink parts sellers here. TLC might make some purchases from Bricklink quite unattractive. I wonder, though, if TLC will be able to keep up with demand from people who order huge quantiities of specific bricks. Things could get interesting.
4. Hey, exciting stuff! Of course I believe you. There is a big difference between some new 11 year old member posting release news in half-intelligible english for sets that aren't due to be released for 5 months, and a lonstanding EB member posting a sensible post with decent details. I'll look forward to the pics. By the way, this bricklink seller in the US appears to have a number of these sets in the past few days: http://www.bricklink.com/storeDetail.asp?b...t=6&storeDesc=D Batcave, new airport, UCS batmobile, star destroyer, sail barge I'm looking forward to this. Need some new sets to spice up my boring life! Thanks for the news
5. Water won't hurt Lego. Water with soap will evaporate leaving soap scum on the bricks.
6. :-$ uh... I love sorting too! It is indeed relaxing to do. I am occasionally insomnic, and sorting bricks at 3 am is not an uncommon activity. Also, washing bricks - I kind of enjoy that too. <end of true confessions> <return to Manly AFOL persona>
7. Pet free relates to people who have allergies to fur, animal dandruf, etc. Prolonge UV light exposure discolours lego and should be avoided. A few hours sufficient to try the Lego shoudl not be an issue. AFter it's dry, I would advise storing in a warm dark place with good air circulation (warm helps smells evaporate faster, dark to avoid disclouration) for a few days-weeks.
8. Always an unpleasant discovery, I agree. >:-( However, there is hope: 1) soap and water (rinse well - I hate soap scum drying on my Lego) then 2) let it sit out in the open for a few days to weeks, and the smell generally is gone or nearly gone. The smoke smell takes longer to come out of rubber parts like tires, but even then it eventually goes away.
9. Wait, I'm confused. Does this version support GBA cartridges? or not? I thought it didn't but the press relesase mentions the GBA cartridge slot.
10. On behalf of my daughters, I vote for Pippin Reed II.
11. ...so perhaps we should cut TLC some slack? Besides, more than half the time, when a part is "missing" (not from a bought set - that's never happened to me, but from sets I got on eBay or re-opened from my collection), it's me who has missed it, under a rug, under a pillow, or under the table...It has a funny way of turning up.
12. Wow! I'm so jealous you guys (and gals) can do this. Keep posting the pics - I'm living vicariously through you. Maybe one of these years...
13. Here's why I'm skeptical. In my experience new and highly anticipated Lego sets ALWAYS appear on eBay or Bricklink few days before they appear in stores, because shop employees or warehouse people usually grab a few to make a few quick bucks. I just checked eBay and BL for these sets. Nothing. QED
14. It's been a while since we've had a BFS treat. Thanks! Love the colour scheme! Does Jala look a bit.... effeminate? Or is that my imagination.
15. Count me highly skeptical.
16. Meh, don't sweat it. Just cause some dweeb thought he/she saw something doesn't mean it was there. I don't see anything wrong with hte post. I read those reviews and wondered where the heck they were coming from. Dweebs are best ignored. I also saw the MOCs they were referring to, and although they are excellent indeed, I prefer yours - for the reasons stated in the review. Dweebs.
17. Oh, duh. OK. stupid question. If there was a way to solve this, it would probably involve using curved slopes turned sideways, but I ma not sure they will achieve a nice looking angle.
18. It looks excellent. Clearly superior to the one from TLC. One question. Why is there such a clear vertical demarcation between the front wheel well and the mid-part of the car, bridged only by the 1x8 tile over it. It is a hard vertical line that breaks the sleek elegance of the whole thing on the side view. Is there no way to bridge this gap, or use pieces that span the gap? Regardless, truly excellent, and a perfect minifig scale. The sliding roof top is simple but elegant.
19. One false start, 121 seconds for the quiz, a measly 10/20 correct. Sigh. I am ashamed of myself. Must ...... study...... more...... adventurers..... By the way Brickster, thanks for doing that, it was fun!
20. definitely not Keetongu or VCVC. Lots of big, >11 year old words. Oh well, no doubt soon to be banned, even without a trip to the chamber.
21. LOL. 3.. 2.. 1.. bye Harporheck
22. This, and 6080, are the castles that mean "classic castle" to me more than any others. It is a better build and more fun set than 6080, althoughI have to say that a black castle just doesn't seem as right as a gray castle. This is what "not <insert that tiresome argument>" means: No raised baseplate *y* And four horsemen and 8 footsoldiers!! Fat hairy chance we get anything like that any more. Overall, this is one of the top 3 castles ever made. On some days if you ask me I would say it is the best ever (on the days when the black colour doesn't bother me). Usually goes for 80-100$ complete with instructions but no box on eBay. Recently saw a MISB 6085 go for 325$ EDIT: Just found another MIB on sale on eBay.... 500$ and climbing!! http://cgi.ebay.com/1988-Legoland-Castle-S...1QQcmdZViewItem
23. Certainly I am far more interested in castle than in pirates. I got out of my dark ages with the castle sets, and have all the big castles up to 6090. The last few months have been brutal for any Lego-ish activity. I still have a Robin Hood vs Prince John project in the works, but no time at all to finish it and still enjoy the building (what's the point in forcing yourself to build - it has to be fun). Still, count me in as a castle-head (along with Adventurer-head and technic-head) Now, all we need is someone with Phes' maniacal zeal to keep things active....

My Sig

It's the best sig I've ever seen. It's already cost me 10 minutes of useful work time today. I just keep staring at those little guys... :-| .
25. If you guys want to make a pitch for TLC to create schoolroom history teaching line..... I would be glad to help.
