  1. I bought one on BL when I first got back into Technic and Lego a few years ago. I paid dearly and couldn't bring myself to break the seals so I pieced one together making some color tweaks along the way. I think making your own might be the way to go at this point unless you find an exceptional deal. Have fun!
  2. Another option for the fuel tank is to do what was done on the 9397. I have a modernized version of the 8285 that I pieced together like you're talking about doing and I also used LBG pieces/wheels instead of the silver. Have fun - it's worth it IMO!
  3. Or pieced together from existing stock supplemented with BL orders.
  4. I love the color scheme of the 8052 and wouldn't mind seeing more of that as well.
  5. Sorry for the confusion - they are two separate models, the 8043 in the first pic and the 42006 in the other.
  6. Yes. I really like the color and it took some work to build around pieces that don't exist in Orange, but it was worth the trouble to me in the end.
  7. Thanks! Here is the little brother in case you want to see some more Orange.
  8. It will be hard to top 2013, IMHO of course. That said, I can't wait to see what they come up with.
  9. Thanks for the images! The Crane still looks great - can't wait!
  10. That one is very nicely done for such a compact space.
  11. Very nice work! I really like all of the details, especially the engine. Reduced visibility is a good problem to have in that case.
  12. That's a nice mod. I still need to address that problem and will likely do something very similar. Thanks for posting.
  13. I built this model recently and replaced the hoses with liftarms very similar to the 9397, but matched the style of the original hood of the 8285. I updated the model with newer 1x5x11 flat panels instead of the partially studded 6x12 plates also. I repaced the steering gears with knob wheels and replaced the gas tanks with ones like the 9397 has. I'll post some pictures of it in this thread soon to show what I'm talking about. It was a lot of fun to build and looks great next to the 9397 and 8258. I don't own the actual set but built it from the BL inventory list and instructions instead.
  14. It looks fantastic color corrected so to speak. Very nice tractor indeed - good work!
  15. They actually have plastic models ready to glue together that look more like the real thing once finished. Just don't get any clue on the windshields! Once you start cutting, glueing, painting, etc it becomes something else IMO.
  16. Clever model and I love the lime as well! I'm currently building the 8420 Street Bike in lime and it looks great. After seeing a few in that color I had to have one. I wish lime wasn't so limited like orange but at least there is enough to build a few things.
  17. Incredible model! Very nicely done. Love the Dwight reference - Schrute Farms definitely needs a couple of these things!
  18. Yes. Backtrack until you find the mistake. J/k! No, they're not motorized.
  19. Nice work - love the improvements! Do you feel like anything was compromised with any of your changes? I haven't built this one yet but will definitely revisit this thread when I do. I had already planned on replacing the goofy yellow pieces and probably tweaking a few others.
  20. It's funny - I was thinking about these sets this morning on the way to work. I like the 8070, 9396 and 9397 a lot. Of course the 8265 would be in the conversation as well.
  21. He is selling Paul's instructions for his transmissions also. Shameless... It's listed under Technic instructions.
  22. It looks great in black and I really like the way it looks with the rigid hoses! I'll be starting on a red one in about a week or so. The instructions and design are top notch - great job Paul and Eric!
