  1. Pfft, surprises are no fun at all! Meh, maybe they are a little fun... sometimes. Oh alright, TLG can keep a secret when they want to. Though that doesn't mean I'm not losing hope that we may yet see the light before the tunnel comes to an end. -Tarfful EDIT: Fixed the wording of the last part.
  2. First off I'd just like to say- It's a trap! TLG knows us too well to be this kind to us, this is obviously part of some diabolical scheme to lure us into believing that Pirates is returning as a theme. On the other hand... if this is true, then I truly have died and gone to a better place. A place where TLG does not have to create themes with only man vs. beast violence, a place where minifigs can do what they do best and hack each other into tiny little plastic bits, a place where all AFOL's should be happy but probably aren't because they love to complain, this is my kind of place... a better place, a new place, an AFOL's paradise. A few things that I noticed: (In no apparent order.) The firing mechanism part of the cannon is metallic while the muzzle is not. People who are complaining about the lack of cause for a fight in set 6239 should get eyeglasses. Why? Well, isn't a map leading to buried treasure a good enough cause for a fight-to-the-death? Epaulettes return and in surprising colors - gold and what appears to be silver or bronze. (On the governor in set 6424.) The stickers on the shackos are just one more way TLG provided us with to better organize our Piratey armies. In set 6242 a 1x1 brick with hole is conviently placed at the base of the tower on the far right so as to easily make it expandable. Anyone up for Modular Pirate sets? Since when is an Octopus considered a Kraken? -Tarfful, who should ask you - Do you fear dea-aath? (Pirates are so ON!) EDIT: Dash troubles now fixed.
  3. Ashoka's rumors were written with equally poor grammar, but they turned out to be mostly true. I say that we give em' a chance! -Tarfful, who thinks that using poor grammar and punctuation doesn't mean that you're lying, it just makes it seem less likely that you're telling the truth.
  4. Seconded, about the lying. Talk about immaturity... Back on topic, well kinda- The Home One is the ship. (duh ) It's Admiral Ackbar's flagship, and (subsequently) his personal command ship from Ep. VI. Technically it's name is the MC80 Home One type Star Cruiser, MC meaning Mon Calamari. More info on the Home One can be found here. And here's what LEGO said would be included if we got a Home One set: (In red.) The control bridge and a hangar bay with a new A-Wing, which is not pictured. It'll hopefully also include Admiral Ackbar and his scrumptious cereal, Mon Mothma, and a couple of other familiar Rebel faces in minifig form. -Tarfful, who really hopes he doesn't have to explain what an A-Wing is... bad joke, I know. EDIT: Didn't want to double post so I edited in the following comment. EDIT 2: Some updates and added a link to more info on the Home One, enjoy. EDIT 3: Just trying to perfect the post... EDIT 4: Perfection (hopefully) achieved. EDIT 5: There goes perfection... Are you? Bad grammar, a poor excuse for lying, accusing others of lying... two words: grow up. Sorry if I sound harsh; just think before you touch the keyboard next time.
  5. If there's still room, I'd love to join the Academy. I've done a couple of reviews before, but I feel that my camera skills still need a lot of work... and the writing part of my reviews (or lack thereof) could use improvement too. -Tarfful, who really hopes there's still room. (At least for me. )
  6. Hehe, pitiful n00bs. In-e-ways, back on topic... I think it's time I estimated the price-points for each of these six set: (As if anybody cared.) 8014 Clone Walker: 10-12USD Reason: Much wiser piece usage but still a few more bricks then the previous Clone BP. I'm hoping it'll still be 10USD but wouldn't be surprised if they jacked the price up a few dollars. 8015 Assassin Droids: 10-12USD Reason: Looks like it contains a lot more pieces then the previous Droid BP, IMO the speeder is a way too big. If they downsized the piece-count of the speeder and included one of the new STAP's I'd happily pay more then 10USD for it, but seeing as that's probably not going to happen I'd go with 10USD as the most likely asking price. TLG also likes to keep the price-points for the BP's equal so that's gotta factor in somewhere doesn't it? 8016 Hyena Droid Bomber: 25-30USD Reason: Definitely the oddball of the group, it looks like a max of 250 pieces go into making the bomber itself and that's being quite generous. Add in the 24 pieces required to make the jet-pack droids (including their blasters) and you've got a number in the vicinity of 274 pieces. Seeing how the Spider Droid has about as many pieces plus 2 actual minifigs I'd say this is probably going to be cheaper, but then again TLG seems keen on jacking the price up for all CW sets. 8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter: 25-35USD Reason: The best System scale TIE we've seen yet. This set is sure to thrill OT fans and fans of SW LEGO in general, and with 251 pieces no less. Seeing as this is the 10th Anniversary set though I wouldn't be surprised if TLG decided to jack the price up 5-10USD. 8018 Separatist AAT: 35-40USD Reason: TLG has done a great job so far on using bigger pieces to keep the piece count relatively low, while not making the pieces too big as to upset AFOL's, and this set is no exception. The AAT itself looks to be containing anywhere from 280-300 pieces, normally this would make the price be about 30USD, but seeing as the set is also supposed to contain a redone Yoda, I wouldn't be surprised if this set came in at 40USD. 8019 Republic Attack Shuttle: 45-50USD Reason: By far the biggest set of the bunch, the shuttle looks to contain anywhere from 350-400 pieces An appropriate price would be 40USD but seeing as it'll contain a new Mace and the fact that it's a CW set I'd estimate the price being 5-10USD more. Well that's my take anyway... -Tarfful, who thought that that post would have been a lot shorter.
  7. Thanks for the info on the dates for the catalogue and the link to the BS gallery, they're just what I needed. VVVVVVVVVV IMO, the "Pilot" is not a Pilot because- A. He has a completely diff. torso than the other pilots. B. The printing on his helmet is in gold and dark green not yellow. And C. The GAR symbols on his helmet are black not red. Also, TLG has this policy of counting any clone minifig with ARC accessories as an ARC. TLG hasn't animated a molded headpiece yet, and I don't think they're going to start with the new Yoda headpiece. Evidence: JediNews stated in their "Even juicier LEGO 2009 Rumour List" and I quote, "Yoda has a new head, that's a bit more LEGO-scale than the previous one.", end quote. VVVVVVVVVV It is in the basic sense of the word, but other CW sets such as the new LAAT have a more finished look. To me it looks like the designers just covered the rudimentary design of the ship, and forgot about smoothing out all the rough spots in the design. Such as- the wings being way too short, the blue technic pins showing, all the gaps in-between the plates making up the hull and cockpit of the ship, it's also in dire need of some stickers for the trans-black windshield piece. Don't get me wrong though, the set itself isn't bad, it just needs a lot of fine tuning. VVVVVVVVVV Technically they're supposed to be IG-86 Assassin droids. Kudos to TLG for making accurate figs, or at least trying to. VVVVVVVVVV Isn't that the truth of it. VVVVVVVVVV Doesn't anyone take the time to read the last couple of pages of this thread before posting? All those pics have been found for awhile now, I even had time to resize and post them. We're just not allowed to post pics or deeplinks yet as there's a copyright issue. Read the thread before you post people, or at least the last 4-5 pages of it! -Tarfful, who hates to end a post on a negative note, so... *in a positive tone* goodbye!
  8. Key word: usually. Yeah, I know that that's usually how things go, but you never can know what the future will hold. -Tarfful, who thinks this is getting as KimT would say, "off target". So let's stay on target, shall we? EDIT: Oh no, it looks like I've used some bad grammar and to top it off a mod quoted me using the bad grammar, in the SW forum! I have now become the enemy, well not really; the spellcheck and edit buttons are extremely useful.
  9. OK Mr. Pessimistic. Seriously though, we don't know what info/pics we'll get in the future, or how long it will be until the next wave of info/pics arrive, just keep a hopin' and a searchin' and we'll have new pics before you know it. Oh, and KimT, I knew you would get around to it... eventually. (And FYI, they were from my BS folder. ) -Tarfful, who is waiting (not so) patiently for more news of upcoming sets.
  10. Yeah, but remember that these are just the prelim pics. All of the small details like that should be overlooked, for now. Well almost all, example- the mysterious Clone in the BP because he has entirely new printed versions of the helmet and torso. -Tarfful
  11. TLG doesn't make pieces in sand red anymore due to the color being too costly to manufacture. -Tarfful
  12. EDIT: Off-topic rants don't belong here. In-e-ways, back on topic- Looking at the pic of DV's X1 more closely I can see that the set contains 251 pieces, which means that the price point will be somewhere between 25-35USD. The only reason I put the high-end price at 35USD is because of the fact that it is the 10th Anniversary set. On a related note, does anyone think that Darth looks a little taller? -Tarfful
  13. I was afraid of that. Can anybody tell me why it's okay to post links to pics but not okay to post the pics themselves? -Tarfful
  14. Then why is the Clone Pilot in the Republic Attack Shuttle perfectly normal? Also, wouldn't it cost more to print the diff. parts of the helmet and torso in different colors just for one preliminary fig? Methinks I smell a new Clone Commander... -Tarfful
  15. Here are the pics resized to 800x600, enjoy: EDIT: Sorry no can do at this time. Maybe later. Feel free to look at the pics on BS. Oh and according to JediNews, Yoda doesn't have a CW head. His head is just bigger for more accuracy in terms of scale. Remember we haven't had a single molded head piece become Clone-War-ized yet (Plo Koon). -Tarfful, who wonders why the so-called pilot in the Clone BP has a diff. torso then the other pilot, gold and dark green markings on his helmet, and black GAR symbols on his helmet, hmmm... EDIT: Fixed some mistakes and grammatical errors. Oh, and this is my 450th post, huzzah! Just 50 more to go and then you all have to call me Sir Tarfful. EDIT Dos: Tehehe, I knew that would happen... oh, and they were from my BS folder.
  16. Looks like I'm a little late to the party... oh well, better late then never. Count me in/sign me up. Oh, and thank you Copmike, and whoever else was/is involved with this raffle. We are forever indebted to you. () -Tarfful, who sincerely is thankful.
  17. No it wasn't, it was manufactured by Rendili StarDrive as a follow-up to the Victory-class SD for the New Republic. Also, the Acclamator-class were assault ships, not Star Destroyer's. You also forgot the Victory-class, which is a a SD. VVVVVVVVVV Seconded, although Delta Squad in LEGO form would be a dream come true. VVVVVVVVVV Who cares about a slimey, cowardly species who don't even have noses? Seriously, I would like to see Nemodians too, but I'd rather have a new version of GG first. -Tarfful EDIT: I edited in some more stuff as I didn't want to double post.
  18. GG also uses one Ep. III. -Tarfful
  19. Well, they play a key role in the upcoming movie and JediNews said, and I quote- But if you ask me, having multitudes of IG-86 Assassin Droids does sound pretty useless, but seeing as this is the most recent news we have I'd say this is more likely to be true. Although they do resemble the Lancer Droids from the orignal CW TV show, so you could always use them to recreate that iconic scene. VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Oky, I hate to burst your bubble but, that's a Republic-class Star Destroyer not a Republic Star Destroyer. The difference is that the Republic-class Star Destroyer is used by the New Republic not the Old Republic. Oh and the Venator is widely known as the Republic Star Destroyer as it was the main Star Destroyer in Republics arsenal of ships. It was also the only SD until the Victory-class was created, but that ship is more identified with the Galactic Empire then the Galactic Republic. VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Which one from EAW? There are several to choose from. Of course it's going to be the Republic version of the Y-Wing, we just got a new version of the old Y-wing last year. VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV That would be the most likely candidate in my mind too, thanks for the picture. Though there are two versions, the first which is the one Bly posted was used by GG to land on Utapau. It had an unaltered cockpit due to GG's personal distrust of automated systems. The second version is fully automated and therefore has a diff. cockpit. Reference pic below- This second version was used by the CIS leaders to land on Mustafar and by Nute Gunray to try and escape from Darth Vader on Mustafar after the other CIS leaders had been killed. Personally I hope it will be the first version with a new GG and IG-100 Magna Guards. -Tarfful EDIT: Forgot to spellcheck, I also separated the different parts more to make the post easier to read. EDIT 2: I somehow chopped half my post off, it's fixed now.
  20. Doesn't anyone read anymore? Your both wrong. The term Assassin Droid directly refers to the IG-86 Assassin Droid in the new CW movie. (Believe it.) (The last two words are the link.) -Tarfful
  21. Whung has proven himself to be a good source in the past Oky. He is knowledgeable in the ways of the force. Hmmm... or it could be in her favored color: pink. Whatever color it is it will most likely be a Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor. (This.) It's what Anikan's new yellow starfighter is in the CW movie. I don't know, your guess is as good as mine... is there anybody here that is particularly good with LEGO related acronyms? ^ ^ Something similar to Arealight's version would be great, though it would have to be a bit more angular. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your both wrong. The term Assassin Droid directly refers to the IG-86 Assassin Droid in the new CW movie. (Believe it.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmm... that is a most intriguing thought Hewman, but I think they are most likely the SW '09 BrickMaster exclusives. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ummm... when have we ever gotten a preview set? Also, the fact that the Venator is a vital and iconic part of the GAR is irrelevant to TLG. They make sets based on how well they think they will sell, it's all about timing. Yeah, I know the new X1 is going to be bley and black and that we will most likely get a brand new version of Darth but that still doesn't cut it. Still I get what your saying and respect your opinion, even if I don't share it. ^The above also goes for everyone else I quoted. -Tarfful, who spends way too much time over at Wookieepedia. EDIT: Massive post = massive edit.
  22. Methinks you're half-right Justin. Let me explain- The part about the CTT being the BrickMaster exclusive is spot on (at least in my opinion), and the fact that the first version of the Venator is grouped together with the CTT and both are separated (together) from the main list of SW sets implies that they are the SW BrickMaster exclusives expected early in '09. Now onto why I said "first version", I said it because in fact there are two versions of the Venator listed and both have different names: the first is called the "Republic Attack Cruiser" while the second is dubbed the "Republic Star Destroyer"; both are commonly used names for the Venator-class Star Destroyer. In my eyes, this means that there will indeed be enough Venator to go around. Also, did anyone else notice the Star Wars set with no indicated name? Methinks this was left blank for the TRU poll set, but it could be anything... I also think that the Tie Interceptor X1 being the 10th Anniversary set is most weak. C'mon TLG, I mean sure it's a very iconic starfighter and all but couldn't you have at least put a little bit more effort into it? Unless the Darth Vader fig included in the set has the ability to force choke other minifigs and the X1 is in minifig scale I will be very disappointed with the set selected for the 10th Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars. Still, OT fans are probably doing jigs of joy and shouting praise to the lord above right about now because the 10th Anniversary set is OT, but I won't be joining them. I would also like to thank Whung for the best news this year. Even if it's just a rumor. A rumor that we all wish will prove true... only time will tell. -Tarfful, who can't help but feel pessimistic (no matter how good the news is ). EDIT: Had a little problem bolding the wrong the, it's all fixed now though.
  23. Same goes for me I'm afraid... maybe you should check the link? In-e-ways, your description makes this particular RC* skit sound most intriguing. *Robot Chicken not Republic Commando. Also, I would like to add that I'm a big Robot Chicken fan! And that there's one other RC LEGO skit (that I know of) called LEGO Babel. The basic message of the skit is that TLG has too many licenses, it gets the point across by promoting a "What if?" LEGO theme for the movie Babel. -Tarfful
  24. Thanks Tenorikuma for the update! For the click-lazy people among us here are the rest of the pics: < "Help me Darth Vader, you're my only hope!" ^ This one is pure-wicked-awesomeness anyway you look at it! (Except for the way you are looking at it. ) -Tarfful
  25. No fair, you beat me to it! On topic- I voted for both; as I like them both equally for entirely different reasons. One more interesting tidbit before I go- the writing above the Kowakian monkey-lizard translates to: "Laugh this off!", the writing itself is in Basic. I don't know what the writing next to the Twi'lek says though, as I can't place what language or dialect it's in. Help please? -Tarfful, who is feeling rather nerdy at the moment...
