  1. Were they? It's always been +1 ether right?
  2. In expectation you're spending 20 ether per successful casting. A Grand Tonic that only restores 15 ether costs nearly as much as a Nostrum. Plus Nostrums are guaranteed to be successful. Also, congrats StickFig.
  3. I think Pala's comment has some merit. I wish I could do more to help but running fields battles for months at a time definitely burns you out. In the final battle of the Dastan Trilogy Zepher, Doc and I took turns running rounds.
  4. OOC: For future reference, confusion damage is equal to the power of a normal Hit (WP+level+bonuses xEncouraged/Fragile/Elemental/Other multipliers). In the case of Hoke being mid-Jump, the landing would just cancel and Torc would be dealt the base power damage. "Hm, perhaps you are right. I assure you that I am no frog, heheh." Hybros unfolded his arms that he realized were still crossed from his conversation with Iceborn. "All I can say is that this island seems to change people in more than one way. Perhaps people like Iceborn would be less stubborn if they took a vacation somewhere, eheh... Forgive me for saying, but it seems like the island seems to take hold of people. Etheria... remains isolated from the rest of Olegaia. Perhaps it is better that way, but Etheria is still here. Our problems are your problems and the other way around. I am sure you have connections with magic circles and other people around the world as the others do. Your brother, for example. Would you interfere if he were in danger? Would he if Etheria was?"
  5. Hybros shook his head. "Hm! The Norn artifact does not make us immortal, just protects enough to escape death by blade or bow. My body does not belong to the Cold Circle, it belongs to Olegaia. When I die I will not be used as a tool for world domination." "Come on Matthias, let us leave the old artifact in peace, if there is any to be had in an animated pile of bones long past his expiration date." He shot one last glare at Iceborn before calling out to Melquiadas to bring the pair to Piglina's Office (or wherever she is). "Hello again Piglina. I am here to talk about a concern that the Beast has. You know of the Bugbear on this island, yes? I think you and he must have a lot in common, heheh... You both gained quite some power and wisdom from the effects of this island. Tell me, would other creatures that were like you before like to come to this island, and become as you are now? I have seen that many animals have intelligence of their own, shared with a select few who can speak their language. I wonder, would bringing them here simply allow us to understand them, or would something... more, happen?"
  6. "All of the time. I hope my use of the Norn's gift is for the greater good... at least that is what I try to do every day." Hybros' eyes narrowed as he scanned Iceborn before taking the offensive. "Strange how someone who thinks death is so natural stands before me long after his normal lifespan. By your own logic necromancy defies this natural order, yet this is what you and your organization study so closely and practice. I have never heard such hypocrisy in my life! I have witnessed the Cold Circle's thirst for death and destruction only to turn those left in the wake to their goal of ultimate power. Tell me what is unnatural when the world stands at the brink by the hands of your mindless undead army." The imp clenched his fists.
  7. Hybros nodded. "Very well. There is still one thing I would like to know..." He turned to Iceborn once more. "Then maybe there is something you can tell me. Your dealings with the Cold Circle - what can you tell me about them? Are you their ally or enemy? Does the name Malphien mean anything to you?"
  8. "Fine then, what can you tell me about the Frozen Room? Why would Melquaidas refuse to take me there?"
  9. Jinnipher, perhaps having been too drunk to answer or otherwise just tired of Terry's endless questions, sought a corner chair to curl up in for a few hours. She is woken up by a crowd. She rose grumpily and shuffled over to see what the commotion was. "So long as you didn't vote for Lind." The Moon Elf butts in. "Send your husband my regards, I hope he is finding good use out of that sword. As much as he can, anyway - what good is a sword without a shield?"
  10. Hybros sighed, and let Dyric and Matthias address the issue of Passion. They seemed to be having better luck. "I am sure Piglina would disagree that she is or was food."
  11. OOC: You must have de-equipped the COTRA at some point. It's better in your inventory for now in case you want to switch. Hybros watches the visions before him, and then the other heroes speak. He keeps an eye on Iceborn the entire time, watching carefully for any facial expression (or whatever the equivalent was for skeletons) that would give the necromancer's feelings away. Finally, the imp interjects. "Ehehm, please excuse us for barging in like this, Captain. My name is Hybros. As Dyric here said, we were hired to find a few artifacts and bring them together to... well, bring back someone very important. You are no stranger to necromancy, so I think that you would see this goal as an admirable one." He paused for a moment, considering the possibility of overwhelming the council member with too many questions at once. "And, ehehm, I am curious... If necromancy is your specialty, how would animal intelligence rate on your scale of unnaturalness? Eheh..."
  12. Hybros nods. "Then it is settled. We will continue our quest immediately. Guts, Hoke, Torc, Dyric, would you like to visit Iceborn with me? We do not all need to go, but I think with what happened on The Magpie you all might have some interest in picking his brain, heheh..." "Melquiadas, Iceborn's Office."
  13. Awesome! Vindicator is a great class and I'm looking forward to seeing it in action. Eric would be a monster with those mortal hit gloves in addition to his current build.
  14. "Shut up, Terry." She snatched the bottle back.
  15. "The creators, duh. Bastions of art and music? Embodied in the elegant appearance of an elf?" Jinnipher batted her eyelids sarcastically. "Don't you read? You didn't even know about dragons before coming here."
  16. Hybros sighed, and nodded. "I suppose there is no better option. Amarcolm is right, inaction would be as much of an action as any. And I have been with you all of the way, Guffington. I am in."
  17. "Galadrya and Celebryon, of course."
  18. "Hmph, I would have put the thing out of its misery. If this Guild manages to control their pet, then it's bound to spend the rest of its life in a cage." Jinnipher smirked. "Moone Shine, distilled by none other than the Moon Elves. Some say it's how we got our complexion." She eyed the gear, but knew well enough that her coin purse was far too light to afford it.
  19. If I can offer a bit more speculation, I think Zepher as a QM is letting you, the player, make that choice. He included a side quest (or several) to be completed at some point during the final phase of 139, and Purpearl is deciding to do that now. Who is he to force her to attend the meeting? Although she really should be there.
  20. She raised her glass back, and motioned for the mage to come over. "Come, why don't you tell us about your latest adventure, Ezeran? This place could use a good story." Jinnipher shrugged. "A few days, maybe. You don't expect me to sit in this dingy hall all day? Even if the booze is free, you can only drink to entertain yourself so much." She looked Terry up and down. "You look like you could use a drink yourself. Here kid, put some hair on your chest." Jinnipher produced a dark bottle of clear liquid from her bag and slid it down to him. Upon closer inspection, the liquid inside seemed to glow faintly.
  21. Hybros pinched his brow. This had all become very confusing all over again. After listening to Matthias, Hoke, and Dyric, Hybros replied to Guffington. "Guff- ehem... Gerald." He said the name with a sense of uneasiness, for it was the first time he had called his employer and friend by his first name. It indicated seriousness. "As much as I am loyal to you - that you should know well by now - my fellow heroes have a point. Even if we were to go through with this, we will need to convince the rest of the Council. If by simply saying 'why not' is your reason for this entire quest, you will not convince these people here..." he indicated to those who had vocalized their doubt on the matter. "Let alone the council whom we must convince. Surely there is a greater reason for all of this. You spoke about balance earlier, but it seems even the Old Gods themselves do not realize the threat of darkness or witches, if there is one at all." Now the imp looked concerned, fearing that they had come a long way for nothing. Yet, it was not so easy to throw out all trust on one of his greatest friends. "And who are you?" "I see... Ehehm, and now Matthias is one of you? Eh... so he will live forever unless someone kills him, is what you are saying." He glanced at the gnome. "I did not think such power was destined for mortals. Even my people, who were trapped in the Void for so many years, did not truly age the same in there."
  22. Jinnipher displayed her mug before taking a swig. "You?"
  23. Jinnipher strides into the Hall, making her presence well-known as was her custom. She flipped her hair back as she sat haughtily at the bar, wasting no time in knocking back a mead.
  24. So 130 is finally over. It was a blast to read, I'll have more to say once the questees get their thoughts in. It's a shame Cutcobra has disappeared...
  25. Hybros looked around the room at the collection of people, some of which were his closest friends and allies. Some he wasn't sure about. He grinned, and shook his head. "There is no end to adventure with you, Guffington." Perhaps there was another world beyond, in the Void, or somewhere in between, full of secrets and people and new things to discover. Maybe not for Guffington. Hybros did a double take, and scanned the purported Old God. He gingerly poked the were-eagle to make sure it was real. "This is the first time I have seen one of the Old Gods. I do not doubt your power, but forgive me, ehehm... I was not expecting someone so... real. Heheh." "The darkness... and how did you come to find this out, Dyric? If the other Old God is dead as well, then what good will bringing Passion back do? We would need them both to truly restore balance, as Guffington and company have said. Right?" He eyed Daneeka questioningly, and then glanced over at Chauncey, afraid that he might get an answer even worse than he first expected. Hybros nodded, silent but confirming Arthur's recollection and questions. "I also saw the same dragon in the vision I shared with Vipera in Dastan, I think. It gave life and intelligence to the dragons that live today, because before they were just beasts." He thought for a moment on Louis' request. "There was also this darkness that Dyric spoke of. Like in our vision, Arthur, the home of dragons fell from the heavens because of it. And three witches... I am not sure of their intent. I met one of them, long ago on my quest to find my people. It shared visions of the past with us, and some answered many of my questions." He looked to Daneeka again, and over to Guffington and Hope as well. "What more can you tell us about these witches?"
