LEGO World 2009 - Netherlands (Zwolle)
Dr. Brick replied to Bricks's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I'll be there the weekend (24th and 25th|), with BeLUG. Last year was great. 10% off on all regular lego sets by the way. Dr. Brick -

Thanks, but even though I'm proud of the technique it's not ideal, as it is unrealistically steep. But it is the easiest way of doing it, as I don't have enough pieces for building custom hills. Dr. Brick

You can just see it on the first, the second and the third picture. Look just left of the Green Grocer, in front of the Sky Scraper in progress. Sorry for the delay on bringing you more pictures, the school year has started again and I'm very busy. i can tell you that the Market Street and the Grand Carousel have successfully been installed. Dr. Brick Edit: 300th post!

Nice idea for a raffle! It was a hard choice but here we go: 1. U-Wing by Rook 2. Separatist Landing Craft by Rook (this guy is good!) 3. Lukes Landspeeder by Lars 4. Steam TIE by RebelRock 5. Venator by Angel06 Please note I'm not a Star Wars expert so I based my choice purely on how they were built, finished and presented. Good luck to all you Star Wars-MOCers! Dr. Brick

This would be THE chance to build my station: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19097 . But I can't. No money and no place to put it... Oh well, good luck to everyone participating! Dr. Brick

Ah yes, nice to see I'm not the only one worrying about this. I'm going to go to a LEGO store in the UK in august (Bluewater). (the pound is so low that I will save huge amounts of money, CC is 50 euros cheaper then on the continent, grand carousel 60 euros... ) I hope they will still have a copy of the Market Street. Café Corner and Green Grocer will definetly stay till at least the end of the year I think, because they are both still advertised with the Fire Brigade, those sets belong together. Really worried about market Street though... would hate it if I missed that. Dr. Brick

This is really nice Klaus-Dieter! I like the landscaping. And the interior. But isn't this a hunters house? I thought the forresters took care of the forrest, not shoot the animals. (doesn't really matter really...) Keep up the good work! Dr. Brick

Thanks everybody for all the comments! @ Klaus-Dieter: I will fill up every space with a baseplate. Plain wood is boring and unrealistic! I will make the water by turning a large wall of 1*8 blue bricks on its side, which is a technique I have never tried before but I always love. (don't know where I'm going to get all those blue bricks though... Tomorrow (I hope, otherwise next week tuesday) I will recieve a parcel from LEGO with a few electric wires in it. I will then show you how I manage all the electric components of the town. Please feel free to comment and if you would like to see more pics, just ask. Dr. Brick

Hi Everybody! Today I shall show you what I do with my lego. I am building a town. It is a WIP that I intend to finish in a years time. The pictures in this post were made today (15/07/2009). I will post more pictures when I get further. It is built on 3 tables and consists of several parts or 'districts'. Table 1 Here is a pic of the complete table: I will move from left to right. The Farm This is the most left part of the first table. The farm consist out of the Creator Beach House, the Vestas Wind Turbine (the Vestas set isn't real, I collected the parts myself) and the 1989 Derby Trotter. Two sets are still missing: the Creator Family Home (which needs to go in the top left corner) and of course the Farm (which needs to go in the bottom left corner). The Centre Next to the farm I am building the centre of the town. This will consist of the Modular Houses (at the moment I only have the Green Grocer). Behind the Houses is a building site. In the centre there is also a octan garage (part of Town Plan) and the City Police Station (I actually feel the Police Station is a bit ugly, I'm thinking of replacing it with something else! Any ideas?). Behind the garage I'm thinking of putting the bycicle shop from the new City Corner. Also have look at my work on the road down, which I'm pretty proud of! And then there is a big open space. What goes there? The Grand Carousel of course! Table 2 Now let us move on to table two. At the moment it is... a dump! The only thing that's in its correct place is the Ferris Wheel. But it won't be like this forever. (I hope) I have made a rough design of the bridge that needs to connect the railway on both sides of the dump. It shoud go over roads (which are allready in place), a dike (the gray plate on the design), water and finally connecting with the station on the other side (more on that later). The train is just one of my earlier designs, I will not build it. Table 3 As you can see this table also needs some dusting, but it's better than the previous one. Here we can find: The Square The square consists of two buildings from the Town Plan and the City Station. I also want it to include the pizza shop from the new City Corner. The Industrial Site The Industrial Site includes an (intended ) dump, a shunting yard (with 10027 Train Engine Shed) and theCity Harbour. There, that was it. As you can see I still have a lot of work on it but I'll never say no to a challenge if it includes LEGO. Rember I am still building this and I would love to here all your ideas on how I could do it better. As mentioned before I will add photos now and then to keep you updated on the progress. Thanks for reading! Dr. Brick P.S.: Sorry for the (sometimes) blurry pics!

Thanks for the review. This is a good set, but not as good as the Vestas windmill. I also feel it's a bit expensive (€59,99). One question. What's inside the turbine? Is it just piled bricks or is there empty space? Thanks again! Dr. Brick

Nice. Wanna do a review? Dr. Brick

I think they are frogs. Haha it will include a ping-pong table, how will they do that? Dr. Brick

I don't think that everybody thinks it will be a new theme, but maybe that a lot of people would like to see it as a new theme. Being Scottish myself I would love to see something like this but... how would they do the kilt? Dr. Brick

I'm in that video turning the thing around. I also helped building it (together with somebody else). It is a very repetitive build (a lot of 8x and 16x) but I did learn some new building techniques and it was very rewarding when finished. It took us 4 hours! The bags aren't numbered so there are 3000+ (mostly small) pieces jumbled together. Having helped building it just pushes me even more to buy this set, it really is great fun. Dr. Brick

First MP3 players and now this... TLC is overdoing it again, remember what happened last time? Dr. Brick

Hi Plantgirl, and welcome! Why don't you tell us a bit about yourself? What themes do you like, do you do other things besides LEGO (or don't you...? )? Well I hope you'll have fun here. See you around! Dr. Brick

Bugger, I hope this won't be a trend... Dr. Brick

229 euros really isn't to bad for 3263 pieces. The Eiffel Tower is 249 euros. It only includes 200 more pieces and it doesn't include Power Functions. I can't wait for this set. Having the horses go up and down and a music brick just makes me more impatient. And I have even got place for it in my town! Dr. Brick

NOOOOOOOOOOOO I'm Broke.... It's lovely. They note a price there, can anyone put this into euros? EDIT: Supposing this is Japan Yen, i calculated it myself: 278.927 EUR. And if that is a discounted price... uh oh... Thanks for the great pics!!! Dr. Brick
-
I don't think so. Let us not forget that sets like the EN, CC and TP are not City sets. They are all sets that go under the same theme: LEGO Direct. If TLC promised a City exclusive (which I wasn't aware of, but hey, it's always welcome ) it has to be a real City set, like the Coast Guard Platform last year. Dr. Brick

Dear Klaus-Dieter We are still getting a modular building this year. Rumours are it will be a fire station. Dr. Brick
