  1. 8065 - MINI DUMP TRUCK http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee236/hellomrzebra/LDDScreenShot15.png FILE: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/merman/8065/8065.lxf I think someone on Brickshelf beat me to it, but I have reverse built the upcoming 8065 Technic set... I have not looked at the guy's original file We only have some differences in the colors of the bucket and a smaller part
  2. I see what you are trying to say, but without these three minor adjustments there is: - no way you are able to place the cockpit - no way to have the wings tilted. If the wings stay perpendicular to the body you are not able to put on the top few plates and tiles of each wing, therefore changing the look of the model drastically LDD has some issues with hinged parts. It is impossible to recreate some hinged effects what would be possible in real life build. I think I stayed pretty close to the original asking a few sacrifices...
  3. I had the exact same issue and followed these instructions posted in another thread. It resolved my issues completely! 1. Close down LDD. Optional: Start Task Manager and make sure there is no LDD.exe running. If there is, kill it. 2. Uninstall LDD 3. Delete this entire folder and content: C:\Users\[userName]\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer. This is for Win7. For other OS, it should be similar paths. (you may want to copy the LU Mode activation line so that you can paste it in after LDD is re-installed). 4. Delete this entire folder and content: C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer 5. Re-install LDD from the setup file found here 6. Re-insert the LU Mode activation line. 7. Start LDD
  4. http://www.brickshel...10215/10215.lxf Here's what I did. Do not build the wings seperately and then click them to the body. That won't work. You need to build the wings attached to the body, which is quite tough. Then make some small adjustments that allow the wings to tilt. 1. Replace a red 2x2 flat slope with two red 1x2 plates: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee236/hellomrzebra/LDDScreenShot11.png 2. Replace two lime tiles 2x2 with 1x2 and 1x1 tiles so they won't touch the lime slopes beneath: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee236/hellomrzebra/LDDScreenShot10.png
  5. I just used LDD 4.0 with Windows Vista and the highest shading/quality possible I also really like the shading of the other sides: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee236/hellomrzebra/LDDScreenShot5.png http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee236/hellomrzebra/LDDScreenShot6.png http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee236/hellomrzebra/LDDScreenShot7.png
  6. 10215 - OBI WAN'S JEDI STARFIGHTER Needed to make some small adjustments, like on the top of the cockpit and the hinged-wings, but set 10215 turned out pretty nice: For the fil go to: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/merman/10215/10215.lxf
  7. Can someone explain how the two sides on top (with the lime green) are linked to each other? I like the building techniques in this set a lot!
  8. So what is the problem? Mine was operating perfectly at first (even though there was some difference in the LA's), but after a while it was working very slow. It could be it only works perfectly with full batteries... But does it actually ruin your M-motor???
  9. The 2H2010 instructions can now be found online: 8051: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597870.pdf (not online officially but changing one digit in the B-model gave this result) http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597871.pdf (B-model) 8052: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597876.pdf http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597877.pdf 8053: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4603475.pdf http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4603477.pdf http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4603478.pdf 8043: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597873.pdf http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597874.pdf http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4610597.pdf
  10. Cool. I interviewed Angus once for his work on WALL-E. I didn't know he is behind this set.
  11. What really amazes me a lot is that the function to extend the boom can not be linked to lowering the hook. That would have been easily possible. That way the hook would lower once you have moved the driving ring to extend the boom. In the current design you have to turn two knobs
  12. why did they put in a tan laserbeam stick in stead of a regular axles?
  13. I e-mailed with the person who put the 8053 inventory on Bricklink and this is what he had to say about it. In my opinion it is in some ways a little more simple than the 8421. It took me a little more than half a day to complete the build and make the inventory at the same time. Ain't all lego fun to build?? :o) I think at some time I will try to mix the 8421 and 8053 a little bit. For instance the pneumatic on the 8421 is a pain in the ..... and I will try to replace that with actuators. Perhaps I will like the 8053 a little more when I get the powerfunctions added to it. The functions as standard are steering on all wheels and controlled from the back of the crane like on the 8421 but the knob for it is smaller. Also on the back are the knob for extending the support legs but every foot will have to be deployed individually. The actual crane jib has 3 functions: raising/lowering the jib, raising/lowering the hook and extending the jib. All functions are controlled by one knob combined with 2 clutches and it takes a lot Also there are some pics on Brickshelf of 8053: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=437807 I think the biggest problem I have with the model is the fact you have to turn the upperstructure with your hand just like 8421.
  14. The reason for this is that the Linear Actuator already has a built-in clutch mechanism
  15. It looked just like the old one on a computer. With columns and dividers between the posts etc. Unfortunately I don't have a screenpic of that...
  16. Yeah, I first checked the new boards out on my iPhone and it looks like this: Now that I see it on my Mac it looks wonderful. So hopefully you guys are able to upgrade the mobile/iPhone look also
  17. 1. I have never bought these sets, yet I did buy a lot of Modular Buildings. Since I am not a huge moccer, the overall result is more important than the parts included. Yet I do like parts in rare colors. 2. I don't have the ca$h to buy all models, so I mainly go for the biggies 3. Chrysler Building, Centre Pompidou, Tower Bridge, Atomium 4. I am a huge fan of Technic and would love a BIG Technic Exclusive like a very detailed supercar. When I was a child I never had the money to buy the big Technic sets I wanted most. Now most of these legendary sets are sold out. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a Classic Technic Sets line, also since in 2012 Technic is 35 years old. I'd love to be able to buy sets like 8448, 8880, 8455, 8480, 8868. It would also be a great idea to include one Classic Technic Set in each year's line-up. 5. Thanks for listening to us AFOLS!
  18. THank you so much for your reply. I tried to do some research but all stores in NY and NJ are way too far from any subway station. And that way a 10211 will be just as expensive as in Europe. You have any idea if FAO Schwarz sells this set or is able to order one for me? I have seen exclusives there in the past. (I tried to Direct Message u but u have this disabled, hence the public reply)
  19. Yes, but according to Lego.com this store is not open yet. Coming this summer... People from Lego Direct also told me this
  20. I will be going to San Francisco and New York City in 3 weeks and was wondering if people know stores in or around these cities with a good range of Lego kits. I am depending on public transport (especially subway). I know about 2 official Lego stores in NYC and one in New Jersey but I have no idea if these can be easily reached. Unfortunately, the Lego stores in Queens and Rockefeller Center will open this summer. I am specifically looking for exclusives like 10211 Grand Emporium. Does anyone know if FAO Schwarz sells these? I have seen exclusives there in the past. I don't count on the Toys'R'Us flagship store on Times Square. And anyone knows department stores that have a good collection of sets?
  21. First of all let me thank you for taking the time and the effort to answer my questions! I really appreciate it. Now about my third question. I have a feeling the more different parts there are in a set the more expensive it is to produce a set. Very often this is solved by using elements that are already in the set so not another new part has to be added. A good example is adding a red bricks somewhere inside a yellow model where it is not visible just because somewhere in the model there is another of such a red brick that is visible. Another good example is Technic set 8292. At a certain stage you have to use a 2 x 4 yellow plate. This plate is replaced by two 1 x 4 yellow plates because these are also used somewhere else in the model (the cabin I think). This helps prevent Lego has to use a 'new' part (the ony place where a 2 x 4 plate is necessary) and sorting is easier and cheaper because the two 1 x 4 plates where in the design already anyway. See my point? I have a feeling with the Exclusives this is less an issue and you are allowed to include any element you wish, even if there is only one of it necessary...
  22. hey Jamie. A couple of questions: - where do you get your inspiration from? - would you ever consider a 64x32 modular building? - I have a feeling the modular building exclusives are a little less economical when it comes to the different parts. Like: more different parts than in regular sets. Are you allowed to confirm? - how long does it take from first concept to release to develop a modular building? - what concessions did you have to make with previous modular buildings you are allowed to share q with us?
  23. Maybe this is a little far-fetched, but could it be every set contains a hint of what the next set will be? - 10182 Café Corner had a garbage can with two green cherries or grapes falling out hinting on 10185 - 10185 Green Grocer had a fire hydrant hinting on a fire station - 10197 Fire Brigade is the hardest link to the next Modular Building, but maybe the minifig with the shoulder bag that seems a bit off place like she is about to go shopping at a department store? - 10211 Grand Emporium has a mailbox, hinting the next set may be a post office? Or a ice vendoe hinting on an icecream salon?
