  1. Dude stop saying legos not innovative. In theory to AFOLs your theory sounds mediocre at best, but I assure you 15 sets just to have one full small aspect of middleearth (rivendell) is exttemely unrealistic. Its impractical and would never happen. Has TLG ever done creator sets with a licensed theme? I would much rather spend the money up front on one set and save myself from the hassle of it. Im sure there are alot of people who feel opposite me , but I still think its highly unlikely this would increase sales or profitability just like the idea of battle packs.
  2. I think it was asked earlier but what is the 'bright plain figure' next to the wing and to the left of gimili on the ship? Im assuming its an unread soldier but it appears to be glowing? Is that showing that they have glow in the dark plastic? Whether they do or don't im loving this line. Elrond is a perfect counter to the gamestop version, arwen is just a must have, I can't believe how gruesome mouth of sauron looks, its amazing, and the corsair and unread are awesome. We can't have new prints for everything and im extremely happy with the new ones we got. I dont think having more orcs is as important as the new prints were getting and wouldn't trade a new orc for any of then.
  3. I agree with you about her not translating into a LOTR set very well but That's why I said galadriel would be a better match for the hobbit. My point was that galadriel is a big part in the movies whether it translates well into action sets or not. Prob not as big as Eowen but the same problem exists for her. I think we will see galadriel in a battle against the necromancer set or white council or something similar.
  4. Hahahaha come on man. Just because you sent random drawings to lego doesn't mean your the designer of mouth of sauron or a lothlorien guard. Its very easy see if you had similar designs, considering you both were copying from the same material, but they didn't use yours. They have teams of designers working on figs at TLG who treat their projects like babies, do you really think they would use a non team members designs without compensating you? You guys realize that galadriel is the one that speaks throughout alot of the movies right? I agree that a galadriel fig is more likely in the hobbit but for those of you saying she doesn't have a roll in the movies your crazy.
  5. Well now we know they exist we just have to find the right one. This is off topic but its interesting they mention potc and hp exceeding expectations in sales but stopped producing new sets from them (from my impression anyway) I guess that really backs the theory of free promotion and marketing on movie releases, which I hate to admit. Hopefully we end up seeing the lotr movies rereleased in 3d. Im not the biggest fan of 3d but it may be the best chance of keeping the line alive after 2015ish
  6. I actually think we would still be having this conversation judging by the level of intelligence of some of the posts I've read on other threads. They still sell their products to primarily publically traded companies though. Sifting through reports from walmart TRU and other retailers would give us a better understanding than a random guy saying he goes into the store once a week to check how many lego boxes are on the shelves (I assure you they stock shelves more than once a week). Although it would take alot of work and I for one wouldnt be able to do it.
  7. Personally I think its kind of silly to base theories on how well a theme is selling based on how many sets are on store shelfs. Unless you went everyday and counted how many remain then this method isn't very accurate. I own a small retail company and have years of experience in others (in the US) and we restocked shelfs every night along with getting in new shipments 4-6 nights a week. Now im sure TLG shipments don't come in as frequently but I hope you understand the point im trying to make. I also think comparing how many lotr sets compared to how many hobbit sets remain on the shelves is inaccurate because of the six month date of release difference between the waves but im also unaware of how long a set normally remains in circulation. The best way to judge this would be to seek quarterly, annual or semi annual business reports released by TLG. Is TLG a publically traded company? If so then these reports are public information and should be easily found. I would assume the last one was released in december or is to be released by the end of the month. Anyway I understand this is just speculation I just figured id insert my two cents.
  8. 4 if you count gandalf in dol guldar
  9. No offense but your opinion ( saying lego isn't clever and doesn't know how to be profitable) is hilarious. What do you do? Besides thinking that lego makes sets for you. Do you really think that TLG which has been around for 50-60++ years doesn't know how to be profitable? Your crazy. The reason thier profitable is because they don't listen to people like you. How can you call TLG unINNOVATIVE? HA HA HA HA HA HA. Wooooowwww. Judging by the way your talking your an adult which means your not even in legos number one target demographic. Let me know when your multi billion/million(??) Company is around for long and has as big of a following as TLG does. Who says LOTR is for army building? I have all the sets released and some in multiples and don't use it for army building. Your posting extremely loud accusatory statements from your opinion, which is fine because you have that right, but don't act like you speak for anyone but yourself. And don't think your opinion (from an anonymous sn with no credentials that justify your statements ) is anything but something for me to laugh at. You wont but multiples because of a minifigs that comes in the box? Ha ha were you trying to sound cool or like you have alot of money or something? Come on bro
  10. Anyway we can get lord of the bricks to stop posting non relevant information on this topic? The topic is 2013 lego lotr/ hobbit sets not "lord of the bricks stop motion films. No offense to lord of the bricks because I enjoyed the films, just think there's a better place to put stuff that bogs down my phone when im trying to read my favorite thread.
  11. Its old gloin? Did u really think you were going to get him? Did you have your hopes up to get a fig that wasn't in the movie for more than a minute and didn't have a role besides a background dwarf at the council? I mean I get it, he's a connection w the hobbit, gimilis father and obviously a favorite of yours but you couldn't really think that he would come in a set. There's no way you could realistically think that. I agree I think boromir would ve been a good choice to include in the set. Especially since there probably wont be many more chances to see him unless they do a throwback in osgiliath/ minas tirith. But he played a lot larger of a role in lotr than gloin. Even if there were 10 minifigs included in the set I wouldn't see gloin being one of them.
  12. That's an interesting smaug. Im trying to figure out how the piles of gold under him were built but I can't get a close enough view. Are their any closer pics? I think that the smug is much bigger than the fell beast should be though. Molded or brickbuilt I trust when we get a fell beast I will be stoked.
  13. No offense but don't you think it is a tremendous stretch to even think 'old gloin' would even be rumored to be included in this set? I mean I get it, your a LOTR junkie (I am also), but old gloin? Come on and get real. he doesnt even say a word in the movie, does he? Why on earth would lego even consider including him when there are a handful or more characters who have a bigger role in the scene ? There's absolutely no doubt that the dwarf in the council of elrond set is gimili. You don't have to wait until the toyfair to find out who it is, its gimili in the set, believe it or not. As far as having multiples of figs, that really doesn't bother me as much as it does other people. The way I display my sets keeps them separate so as along as the same fig isn't released twice in the same set it doesn't bother me. Most of the time I actually end up wishing that I had more multiples of certain figs to match the scenes from the movies I try to display. For example having legalos in helms deep or or the missing fellowship members in moria. I understand that alot of people build their own MOC displays though so I can understand how having multiples could be annoying to them.
  14. Wow awesome mocs. Those or something similar would be a must buy for me.
  15. I didn't mean because of the figs alone. I meant the combination of the figs with a molded creature and not having anything substantial to build with it. And the figs really just being the witchking and Eowen. I highly doubt we see the set : Eowen vs witchking 150(-) parts with witchking, Eowen, merry, theoden with a horse and a molded nazgul and a brickbuilt catapult. Not saying it wouldn't be a cool set , or really just a cheap way to get some figs but I just don't see it happening.
  16. Now that I have seen what both arches look like, i checked and I actually have the correct arches and still have s little wiggle so im thinking it must just be part of it. Like others have pointed out im sure mooned will ever shake my set and find out so im ok with it. If I had the wrong arches I would absolutely go to TLG and get the correct pieces though. Everyone makes mistakes but TLG wouldn't have their missing part service if it wasn't supposed to be used.
  17. You think that lego will release a set with a molded nazgul, witching, Eowen, merry, and (maybe theoden) with only having a catapult to build? Yea right. Stop dreaming. But you must not have understood my post. My point was that there is no way in hell lego will release a set with a molded creature, 2-3highly wanted minifigs, and only have a catapult to build. It makes no sense and would be the most expensive catapult anyones ever bought. Like the kind person said a few posts above me, just over the past two waves weve seen molded creatures in 90$ sets or higher (mines of moria and goblin town) and we will see exactly how much the black gates set is with the eagle. I personally think that picture of the nazgul looks terrible and way too "cartooney", atleast the head/face anyway.
  18. I don't care whether a fell beast (if we even get one) is molded or brickbuilt. Its hard to think of a set with enough brick built parts to put a nazgul in besides osgiliath though. I still can't think of anything brickbuilt that's large enough to include with the witchking and "molded" nazgul vs Eowen I don't care whether the fell beast (if we even get one) is molded or brickbuilt. Its hard to think of a set with enough brick built parts to put a nazgul in besides osgiliath though. I still can't think of anything brickbuilt that's large enough to include with the witchking and "molded" nazgul vs Eowen set though. It just seems that a set like this has too many wanted minifigs and beasts and not enough bricks unless they make the nazgul brickbuilt. I find it hard to believe were even going to get one with this wave though seeing as we have pictures of four confirmed sets do out in june (i think thats what the page said) and a confirmation (I believe) on a D2C orthanc set. I think its pretty wishful tginking that there's another set still even if it is exclusive. I also cant even find where exactly the rumor originated from because the last post I could find about it just showed a custom MOC lego art box using the lego emblem which could have confused people but who knows. Im not saying I wouldn't buy the set immediately I just haven't been able to find a legit source for the rumor. The other rumors I've found were for a treebeard encounter set and balrog set that were posted on a youtube video but that doesn't actually post a source either so who knows.
  19. Sorry that wasn't meant for the forum. Alot of times im sending multiple emails, texts, and responding on forums at the same time. Wont happen again but it had nothing to do with me being impatient and im unclear what you meant by it.
  20. After reading this I realized my window is like this also but I am not sure which part on the arch im looking for to see whether I need a replacement.
  21. Silmarillion is definitely a great read and necessary for middle earth enthusiasts as it tells so much backstory even for the hobbit and lotr. It was definitely a heavy read and the names alone made it difficult and made me reread parts several times. I couldn't imagine sets from this line. I could be mistaken but I thought some of the material jackson was using in his hobbit trilogy was from parts of the silmarillion or maybe im just thinking of the indexes from ROTK.
  22. "And id like to see them try..... *weird smirk*" Ha ha man radagast would make for an awesome figure
  23. What does d2c mean?
  24. Do you think this orthanc set will have the inside accessible somehow or will it be more of a display piece? That could be a reason they are releasing both sets at the same time along with the having a less expensive way of getting saruman.
  25. Wow was it really?? That's crazy im glad I didn't do it theeni I guess. I just figured they were stolen or something. Do you know where that thread is?
