  1. You can't use bricklink? But I assume you can still visit the website. You can see which sets include a certain item by using the catalog on bricklink. Like this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=30153&in=S Grand Carousel should keep you in a good supply of white crystals for a while Still, buying a whole set just to get 1 white crystal seems like a kind of waste of money, except for the cristmass tree perhaps..
  2. Looking good! I really like the cliff build in general and the choise for eskimo's as inhabitants.
  3. @ Hersbrucker, are you really abandoning the werewolf army like you wrote in your Challenge 3 thread? And if yes, what are you going to do next?
  4. Nice job! I like the SNOT-water and the riverbed. Those flowers look beautiful. The skew-tree is a great feature as well. Compliments for your courage on trying-out difficult tree designs
  5. Two orcs got sloppy, but I'm afraid there were 7 of them in total. Otherwise my freebuild wouldn't make any sense My freebuild is for 75% done. It's coming in a week. A couple Ondylion peasants get threatened, nothing serious I hope you don't mind! I got the idea after a quote of SoT:
  6. Elon Chorian is still hungry for more titles? Rumours say that the people Ondylion are not united in their appriciation for the famous reputation of their master. This could have something to do with a ruthless orcish-deathsquad that is roaming the lands on the hunt for Chorian's head.
  7. That is a quite convenient. I had already given up on making the deadline. I wanted to train my landscaping-skills in a small freebuild before creating it in large scale for the challenge, but it didn't leave me enough time to finish the entry. Now I might actually make an entry for the challenge!
  8. Very nice scene! Those archers look amazing. I also like the spear-defense and the angle of the bridge is an excellent feature. Just the outpost itself is a bit on the small side. I'm participating in GoH myself and don't have time to join another community project. But one feature about LCC that I like a lot, is the minifig action you guys include in your MOC's. Again, greatly performed in this MOC as well. More colour, more action, more interesting.
  9. Congratulations to the winner and compliments to THE organisation for creating this fine tournament! But, eh, can I get my money back from the wishing well please?
  10. Marvelous, just marvelous! These photo's show so much skill, taste and dedication.. Unbelievable what you managed to create here. Thanks a lot for sharing!
  11. I do agree with angeli that the justification for the 32x32 rule is wrong. The justification given is that no-size limit is unfair to contestants with small collection. That not right if the price is for the best builder. It's like organising a soccer-tournament with a price for the best soccer-team and then reducing the playing field because using the normal playing field would be unfair to normal people, since they don't have the strenght/fitness of barcelona players and they wouldn't have a chance to win. Everybody knows that Barcelona is the best soccer team, so it shouldn't be felt as unfair if they win the price. The justification for the 32x32 shouldn't be that it's "more fair" to people with small collections. The justification given for the rule should be: that it makes more people participate in the contest. The increased participation can be for various reasons.. The price goes to the person who builds best on 32x32, which doesn't necessarily mean that person is the best builder in general :) If you also want a contest for the best builder, no size limit would be in order. People specialed in building big can build big, people specialised in building small can build small. Various handicaps for people with plenty of money/time/training/facilities(various PAB's closeby) are not in order. Also, dedication in both finance and time could deserves somewhat apriciation in my opinion.
  12. Nocturnus' spies are always working in the background to secretly increase the chances of our dark guild. But I'm personally hunting down the spy responsible for this mess and he'll be getting the lava treatment! Your teaser was increadible. I hope you'll finish the quest anyway. Perhaps there is some room for lego in your suitcase? :P
  13. How am I supposed to hold my breath for 30 minutes? Come'on Fortunatus! Throw some salt over your shoulder, get a couple four leaves clovers and throw a couple horseshoes. In the meanwhile, Count Nero is dumping a fortune in Mpya Stedor wishing well. Hit it!
  14. That building is looking awesome! I love it. Is there a background story to mountain pass keep? Nice round shapes around the doors, quite interesting. Great how you experiment with that new wall-technique. That round tower technique works great next to the 2x1 plate technique. I can imagine that it might cause some troubles as well. Problems with sturdiness, or adding battlement for example? Also, do u build a normal grey wall behind it, to cover the holes between the plates?
  15. haha, great use of that Kaliphlin MOC from Gabe :D Perhaps you could use the decapitated scout in Avalonia as well :P Impressive fleet. I wish I could keep my Galley intact as well, but i'm affraid the deck already turned into a building-roof.
  16. haha, great stuff Angeli. Love that floor and the windows. Those glass doors and black pool are going to provide an awesome interior as well. Will your city be finished on time?
  17. I've voted for more LOTR since I hope they will continue this theme will continue for at least another 2 years. There are still so many figs and location possible in that theme. But indeed, I might adore an acient theme about the Romans even more. Preferably with a Romans, Chartagians and Gauls faction. Pretty much all the necessary molds are available already.
  18. This has become one incredible journey! What a great entry, with !8! different locations! Well constructed and amazing how you manage to get so much atmosphere in your MOC's. That new wall technique is seems perfect for this challenge, as it gives an old and rough texture. The body of the guardian is superb. Also excellent minifig positioning. I thought I had a nice plan for my challenge 3 MOC, but i'm definantly not going to match this :S Great job!
  19. Honorable Lord Damaximus of Mpya Stedor, In order to fully test your new troops, we've made sure our represenative has gotten all the practice he needs. By now he has proven to be ready to properly represent House of the Black Knights at your tournament. May I present to you: Lucius likes two things in life, the first one is archery and the second one is just as obvious. Although his shooting technique is questionable, seemingly he hits the target anyway. May Mpya Stedor long flourish in prosperity, Count Balthasar Nero Nocturnus Guild
  20. My character is Count Balthasar Nero and I'm an active builder and member of the Nocturnus guild. Comment on what you like about GoH: The format for this community build you've created here, is fantastic. It gives me a reason to build and I like being part of a community and being part of a group within that community that thrives a competitive element. I'm in particulary fond with a couple choices made in the beginning: - no assigned factions, just the banner colours, which gives a lot of freedom for the builders. - the design of the four guilds Comment on things that could be improved: My main issue here is that this community should be as easy to join as possible. I joined in january after the first challenge was complete, and it took me quite a while to figure out what GoH was exactly, how that guilds differed from eachother and what my obligations would be if I joined a guild. I think it would be better if the first post in the introduction thread would give a more clear view on: - what is GoH - what are the goals of GoH - what is the estimated time this project will remain - what are the rules - clear statement that everyone can join at any time any guild and that you don't have any obligation to build for challenges, have building skills, make regulary comments in the forum, or wathever. The bar should be as low as possible for new people to join GoH. The first page of every sticky guild thread should have clear information on the features of that guild, colours, a standard soldier outfit (if there is any) and next to that: several pictures of sigfigs in that guild and pictures of some builds made for that guild. This would give a clear view of what building for that guilds looks like and is about, without going through all those builds in rogueangs list. Other then the above I would like to state that I agree with the 'hand of the guildleader' thing. I can imagine that this project costs heaps of time and you need to give some work out of your hands. As for the 'commenting on MOCs' issue. I think no-one should feel in-any-way (socially) forced to comment on MOCs. GoH is about building and showing your buildings. Not about making regular posts in the forum. You're improvement should come from challenging yourself and by looking at other peoples buildings, and should not rely on comments from others on your MOCs. People commenting on your MOCs is something 'extra'. They don't have the obligation to do that, since they just join GoH to build lego structures, which should be kept as the ultimate goal. The bar to join and build for GoH should be as low as possible. If people just want to make 1 post every two months for the challenge, they shouldn't be discouraged in any way. Thanks for survey and trying to improve the format. I hope it will continue for at least 1,5 years, because I still have many things I would like to build. I'm not much interested in other themes. Perhaps I would join a pirate theme GoH in which I would join the Islanders-guild. One last note: Nocturnus has to little active members for mini-challenges within the guild itself, perhaps mini-challenges for all of Historica is a solution or making the minichallenges of other guilds open for Nocturnus members? Best regards, Count Nero
  21. Did I miss your thread somehow? It looks like it was posted 2 days ago. Hmm, anyway, great story, very easy to read and interesting characters. Shall I add the builds to the nocturnus map? I just had my first birhtday as a AFOL. It's pretty great. With 'normal' people, it's difficult to think of a decent present for them, so people give the usual wine of bestseller-book. But for an AFOL it's easy to come with something appropriate. Finally I got that Friends-set I've always wanted! Finally some darkgray and darkbrown for my MOCs.
  22. haha, great stuff! I'm intrigued and looking forward to the rest of the story. That fights you're referring to, is that the fight you've posted in the archery tournament? Perhaps, you could post a link to it in this thread to match them together. Beautiful chair-design by the way.
  23. Needless to say, that is fantastic work. You're going all-in on this challege! I'f you really want critisism, perhaps uploading a bigger picture of the throneroom could be an improvement ;)
  24. I've recently build one for my ship, which is linked above by Natesroom. It's easy to find pictures of real greek fire, if you use google. I based my design on the following picture: which turned out to be: Another lego example is here, from Mikey for the GoH: Good luck! I wonder what you'll come up with.
  25. What a lovely scene! I'm getting a great impression of the city of Valholl from this. Excellent work on that blue house. I'm normally not a fan of medieval houses in that colour, but this looks great. Looks like Valholl is prosporous!
