  1. That is correct... the supposedly '09 City Sets. I, myself am surprised that some (if not all) is being released this year. Once more, can someone please confirm? On the November store calendar, Set #7631 is shown.
  2. The Lego store nearest me has it in stock (according to an employee) but won't sell it for another week or two. She was surprised when I told her it was available at S@H. Still, I can wait until then. The FREE Holicay Pick-A-Brick Box is back and will be given out to purchases $75+ starting Nov 1st until Dec 24th (or while supplies last). Store purchase only.
  3. I'll probably get mine next week. I did, however, have the November store calendar and it says from Nov 17-19, (some) Lego stores will have the new city sets. I asked an employee if these sets will be in stock/on sale and she said it will be (inventory varies by store). Anyone out there who can confirm this? If this is so, I can see an early (Lego) Christmas/Holiday Season for all of us.
  4. Please count me in for the raffle... Thank you!
  5. I, myself am in the process of putting up a 1000-man Army. So far I have about 20 men. At this rate it could very well take me a decade or two to accomplish my goal. And what to do after that? I have no idea... Most likely it'll be kept in a curio or something with a note that says, "break glass in case of war."
  6. I would someday try and gather a lego castle army of about 200 crownies Mine, too... someday... someday, I would like to see my goal of a 1000-man Clone Army. I know it will take me years to accomplish this goal, but someday...
  7. Pls do add my name. Thanks!
  8. I had the same problem while setting up my layout. I literally had to re-do that section when the shuttle and train tracks converge as there is a problem with height. Simplest solution I could think of at that time was to set up the shuttle tracks 'outside' of the train tracks. Not the best solution, I know, but for the moment it works for me. I can have both trains and monorail running at the same time. Having limitations with space, this may not work with your layout. So try experimenting until you get the satisfaction you are looking for. Good luck and happy building.
  9. I didn't gave it a thought... and it was of little concern to me. The bottom line for me is that it's still Lego. That's what matters.
  10. I think it wouldn't have mattered... these themes go hand-in-hand. If you have cowboys/cavalry men, naturally you will need some Indians. Basic instinct, I suppose.
  11. Do you think George Lucas (or his company) has something to do with these changes? I wonder how much 'weight' he has when it comes to the final design of each SW set? If TLC takes this as a positive response, then does this give the company a chance/reason to do some 'experimentation' by doing the same changes on other themes? Just wondering...
  12. During the early years of my Lego collecting hobby, I experimented with MegaBlock and Best Lock. Oh boy... I told myself not to do that again and glad not to see alot of these knock offs at Target stores and Toys R' Us nowadays.
  13. Simplicity... (let's not make things complicated).
  14. Welcome, Hyun... Just like you, I grew up with no Lego as it was expensive and my allowance went into buying books instead. You should check out SCLUG (Southern California Lego User Group) and SCLTC (Southern California Lego Train Club). One of the best (builders of MOCs) club I've seen. I do believe the club has a website so do visit and learn more about the club.
  15. It would help lessen the moisture factor coming from the ground up if you elevate your collection by using wooden pallets (if you can get some). For extra protection (and if you have the funds to spend), store your Lego's on rubbermaid or sterlite containers (use the clear ones so you can see what's inside) that can be bought at either Target or WalMart. Never use cardboard boxes as moisture can easily sip inside, get trapped when temperature rises and damage the Lego boxes. Finally, if you're not going to touch it for some time (several months to a couple of years), once you have stacked the rubbermaid or sterlite containers on top of each other, 'wrap' it with wide saranwrap-like plastic that can be bought at office depot or any big office supply store. This will hold moisture out and keep your collection extra dry. Hope this helps!
  16. For the Pod Race, your best bet for a complete set will be eBay. This set is selling below retail price. Watto's Junkyard is on the other hand commanding a higher than retail price on eBay. Good luck and hope you'll get the chance to own both sets in the near future.
  17. There was some sort of a competition at Legoland California this past weekend? I was there, too, last Sunday but didn't notice anything different except that it was so hot! I think I lost a couple of inches in my waistline due to my perspiring profusely. It was worth it though, seeing for the first time the Vegas Strip in miniland. My only complain is that I wish they'd open the park earlier than 10am since it closes at 8pm.
  18. The store manager of the Lego store (Hillsdale Mall) mentioned that he is also surprised to be receiving some X-Wing shipments. He's been getting calls from as far away as Chicago, IL since his is the few if not the only store receiving this shipment. I was not going to buy another set so I didn't ask if he currently have it in stock. By the way, I was there this morning to check on some new stock. For those who've missed this set or wants a few more to form a squadron, this is the time to call and check.
  19. Same here... I opt not to go this time although I've been to the first 2 Midnight Madness. I'll just pass by the Lego store tomorrow morning. Hoping to see the new sets.
  20. If you can accept the fact that once you cannibalize a set(s) for parts, you may not be able to put together the said set(s) again, then go ahead... I, personally, could not cannibalize a set for parts. I try to keep my sets complete in case I have the urge to build it back. I do make a point, however, to have an ample supply of bulk parts for MOC building. If there are any parts I am missing, then I buy those at Bricklink.
  21. Almost everyone has a hobby or a vice... and yours is a good hobby and gets you out of trouble. Don't let 'what other people think' ruin it... you owe them nothing, you don't ask money from them... so if they can't accept you as who you really are... that's fine. What's important is you're true to yourself and you believe in what you do/collect.
  22. YES!!!... Thank you!
  23. When I first started buying/collecting Lego sets in the early 90s, I would use the stickers - place them where it belongs. By late 90s and early 2000s, I stopped doing that because them stickers seems to peel easily, especially if the model is left in direct sunlight. But now I'm back to using the stickers again as it adds more realism to the set.
  24. Let me guess - it's the UCS Millennium Falcon, right?
  25. Is this magazine printed by TLC or by another publisher? For example - Brick Journal by Lulu (1st series).
