Hey guys... thanks for the sneak peak! I always appreciate postings of upcoming sets so that I can prepare my wallet in the near future.

What LEGO do you expect under the tree this year?
AFOL SF replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm not expecting anything under the tree (as previous years). I always wait the day after Christmas and hit the stores for some bargains/discounts. This way I can maximize my funds. IMO this is much better than opening gifts on the 25th. -
Most likely a lot of prospective buyers started asking questions which were left unanswered as I haven't seen this individual/business post again on Craigslist for the past several days.

I was at a Lego store last weekend and was informed by one of the sales rep that indeed, the Spongebob line is being discontinued. The store isn't getting much Spongebob sets these days, she said and once their warehouse inventory is exhausted, that's it for this theme.

How do you keep track of your collection?
AFOL SF replied to desultor's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm probably one of the few who doesn't keep track of my Lego collection. I never thought about it and now it's too much work to do so. It's not the best of solutions but I just keep track of what I have in my head (for now)... -
Several postings of this individual/business was flagged by Craigslist in the past few days. Very doubtful that they have so many Lego sets to sell (and some are exclusive sets). Stay away for your own good.

As I mentioned earlier, I passed by the Lego store at Hillsdale Mall this evening and found out that the store have at least 50-70 Winter Toy Shop sets. I also asked one of the sales rep about shipping to Canada, but she was not sure about that. She was asking me for the zipcode which I don't have so she suggested giving the store a call. Here is the store's telephone # - (650) 571-9020 - do give them a call before you made that bid on eBay. I hope this helps.

I'm heading to a Lego store after work. Will surely let you know... Hang in there!

Review: 3450 Statue of Liberty Sculpture
AFOL SF replied to Inconspicuous's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great review... thank you for sharing your thoughts. I think the Statue of Liberty is worth the $200 price. When it first came out, I told myself to wait a bit longer before buying it, hoping there won't be much of a demand and eventually would go on sale. BIG MISTAKE! I found out the hard way how wrong I was when it sold out both in the Lego store and S@H. I've seen several being sold on eBay but the price was way too much for me to afford. As the saying goes, "patience is a virtue." A few years and many full moons later, I encountered a posting online, a lady who is selling an almost complete Statue of Liberty that belongs to her son, who doesn't want it anymore. I e-mailed her and told her I'm interested. At first she was asking $50 for it; I told her no problem but then realized how big this set was, she asked if she could get $60 for it. Again I told her no big deal. I'll take her offer. Here is the icing on the cake: She lives 2 hours' drive away from me. I told her I'm willing to pay for her time and gas if we could meet halfway. She counter-offered to drive the Statue of Liberty literally to my doorstep for an extra $20 (for a total of $80). So I told her it's a deal! The Statue of Liberty came with the box which was in better than good condition and all of the 4 smaller boxes. Most of the bagged parts were still unopened but as I was almost at the end of putting the set together, realized that I'm missing a few pieces. After purchasing the needed pieces to complete the set online, I knew I needed to have a pedestal to do this marvelous set justice. I'm lucky enough to know someone who does MOCs and custom Lego works for a fee. After showing me a mock-up of the pedestal and agreeing on the price, the work was started and in a month's time (I think), my Statue of Liberty pedestal was delivered. I apologize for not being able to post a picture but to give you an idea, (and this is my Statue of Liberty's claim of fame), it is exactly the same pedestal you will or have seen in Legoland California, except of a dark grey (or bley?) color, mine is tan in color. In reality, there are only 2 of these in existence that I know of. So there you have it. I just couldn't resist sharing with all of you this wonderful story. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I had fun writing it. -
Thank you for this info, ILikePi... I just ordered mine online. The deal is even sweeter with free shipping!

This I can confirm. I was at the Lego store last Friday and there were probably close to 100 or so sets. When I mentioned that the Toy Shop was not available online, I was informed by a sales rep that they can ship any set available in the store anywhere in the US. Good luck to those of you who hasn't bought this set yet. I suggest you do ASAP before the Lego stores sells out.

Who wants to buy a Café Corner for me in the US?
AFOL SF replied to merman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
If you're passing by San Francisco, I can drive you to the Lego store at Hillsdale Mall so you can buy it yourself. -
Black Friday 2009 discussion thread
AFOL SF replied to Darth Legolas's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was at my local Target store yesterday and all I saw was mountain upon mountain of the pink, green, blue tubs. No sign of which set will be this year's Black Friday lego set. For those of you who're close by Target, middle of next week is the time to start checking... -
Who wants to buy a Café Corner for me in the US?
AFOL SF replied to merman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I'll volunteer, too... Take note, if you buy the Cafe Corner on Black Friday (Nov 27th) at the Lego store, you can get a minimum of 10% off (maybe more) towards your purchase. -

Same here... no K Marts close by... Oh, well... -
Any chance CostCo might carry the same (or some different) Lego sets this holiday season? Last time I was there - about 2 weeks ago - I haven't seen anything.

Lovely! It reminds me of this Korean singer - Jang Na Ra.

My motto is buy 2 of each sets that I like. One to open and one to keep sealed. Still lucky, I guess to be able to do such a thing.

Lego Marked improvement in half year result
AFOL SF replied to legomilk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I totally agree! I should be increasing my rainy day funds but instead I'm seeing myself buy more Lego than ever. -
Good luck and have fun rebuilding... Hope you like your new home/neighborhood.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Dunamis... It looks like a great and successful event! On a different note, does anyone know if there will be something special happening at Legoland California this July 4th weekend?

12 Medieval Market Village sets Assembled
AFOL SF replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Impressive! We'll be looking forward to your town/port when it's finish. -
I'm one of many AFOLs who'd like to attend as much (if not all) Lego conventions that happen each year across the country (US) and the world. Unfortunately, due mainly to financial reasons, I cannot. I do believe that in each convention, promoters have exclusive Lego sets that are sold during the 'fest. And t-shirts, too! So what happens to these items that're not sold when the event ends? Are these kept for the following year's event? Donated to charity? Or simply given away as door prizes, auctioned off or simply given away for free to those lucky souls who attended the 'fest? I'm asking because I'm sure that a lot of us would like to buy (the only thing we can afford) some of these products but don't know how to do so. Anybody out there have any ideas?
