  1. ...are you sure it's a van or was it a pick-up truck?... if it's the latter, his name is Mark... the pick-up was found with some of his MOC lego in ruins... not sure though if he's rebuilding these MOCs...
  2. ...went to the Lego Store in Hillsdale Mall (NorCal) and found all the new Star Wars sets, the City Garage and Hospital sets and the new Spiderman set already in stock... unfortunately, some of the older sets are only 10% off...
  3. ...finally, at last - someone taking the initiative to video a Lego convention and offer a DVD at a reasonable price!... I have been waiting for years for someone (or group of someones) to do such thing so that those of us AFOLs who can't attend will be able to own a piece of 'the event.' I hope this is the start and others will follow John's footsteps (because I know that John can't cover each and every con there is)... Thank you!...
  4. ...the exact same thing happened to me three weeks or so ago... saw a SW Clone Turbo Tank with a stickered UPC code on top of the original... out of curiosity, I scanned it and came up with a really low price (can't remember what it was)... rather than buy it, I placed it back on the shelf... I told myself it's not worth the trouble... besides, knowing what's been going on lately, I didn't want any negative karma coming my way...
  5. ...I don't know why (sentimental reason?)... but I do keep all the boxes and all opened packets from S1 to the present... true, it take up space but I make a point to make space for such boxes... I don't believe there is any value to it but who knows... in 10 or so years from now...
  6. ...in one of my earlier postings a few years back, I mentioned AFOLs in South Korea to sound off as there seemed a great usage of Lego in their films... no one did... maybe it's time once more to ask our fellow Korean AFOLs to sound off and confirm (or deny) that number... or better yet, point us to site(s) where AFOLs in South Korea go so we can check ourselves... maybe give us links to their LUGs links?...
  7. ...my wife was not a Lego enthusiast at first, although she lets me spend a few $$$ here and there from extra funds... as long as you don't do any impulse buying and take care of the needs of the household first, then I think you'll be alright... after twenty years of collecting, my wife finally saw the beauty of Lego and became an avid AFFOL... bottom line, having two income is better than one when buying Lego... Good luck to your new-found hobby and more luck to you in getting your wife into the hobby...
  8. ...here is an example: PhilBricksters, a LUG in Manila, Philippines have in its roster 565 members although not all are local. That is quite a number of Koreans being a LUG member considering the number of LUGs in the region... very interesting if that number is true...
  9. Hello all, especially those who're across the pond... I am also looking to buy or trade a complete set of the Team GB (all 9 minifigs) if you have any extras. I prefer opened ones as these will be displayed with the others from the minifig series. I'm located on the West Coast of the US. I'd appreciate any help and thanks in advance.
  10. ...I'm always interested, but also it depends on what sets are for sale without the minifigs... Another factor I consider is shipping cost but that can be worked out. Do add me in your list of people you might want to sell and if the price is right, we can have a deal... Hope you get alot of interest...
  11. ...personally, I think each and every lego convention should be attended/visited at least once because each is unique and cannot be compared with another... one can never tell what you've been missing until you're actually there as an attendee...
  12. ...a few years ago, maybe around 5-6, there was this miniland-scale figs of a wedding couple used as cake toppers displayed at the Hillsdale mall Lego store... I asked if these were for sale (as it was displayed on the counter in front of the cashiers) and was told that it was not... but a few weeks later, I accidentally saw it at S@H with a $35 price tag. I immediately ordered one and gave it as a wedding anniversary gift to my wife... since then I haven't seen any custom-built models for sale... BTW, these were glued models...
  13. ...now I'm curious... does serious collectors buy the Cloud City set just for the Boba Fett figure or for the whole set?... and what is the average selling price of an open set compared to a sealed/mint-in-box set nowadays?...
  14. ...that's good to know that there are some folks in here who're not interested and don't intend to acquire any... (no offense to you guys)... but the way I look at it, this gives some of us non-UK-based AFOLs more chances to get a complete set (cross fingers)...
  15. ...popular or not, I bet all of us want a complete set, whether we can all get it or not...
  16. Saw these sets at the Hillsdale Mall last Saturday. I wasn't impressed at all and passed on buying any...
  17. ...I apologize in advance if my question has been answered in the past: Do we have confirmation that TLC will only release these Olympic minifigs in the UK? If so, how do the rest of us get a hold of a complete set, sans paying all the scalpers out there?... I took the time, effort and money to have a complete minifig series (Series 7 to-date) and would like to add these to the collection...
  18. ...I use it as a garbage bag; the size may be awkward but it works... haven't had any spillage yet...
  19. ...found a box of Series 7 at my local TRU store last Friday at a very unusual place... near the restroom!... I didn't count how many packet there are but it looked full... when a TRU supervisor saw me sifting thru the box, he exclaimed that I can only buy 2 (there's a limit of 2 per person)... I was so frustrated that I decided not to buy any and when he saw my reaction, he upped it to 6 packets since I had my wife with me... so I randomly chose 6 and paid $3.49/packet and left the store... this is one of the reasons why I've spent less than $100 in the store (so far) this year...
  20. ...I, too, fell victim to this kind of scam several years ago... to make it worst, the seller even gave me a negative feedback after taking my money... never got my money back since I sent him an international money order... he's based in Hong Kong...
  21. ...for me, I can't get myself to break a set - whether it's a $10/set or a $100/set - for parts... if I do need some parts to build a MOC, then I go buy them online... and just like the majority of AFOLs, I don't have enough space at home to build and display all the sets I own so I only build sets that really tickles my fancy...
  22. ...thanks for sharing... I enjoyed your posted pictures a lot...
  23. Brickmania's WW2 tanks/armors are just awesome... unfortunately, due to its high price I could not afford most of them... I'll just have to drool every time I see one of these...
  24. Sometime last summer, a Lego store employee I frequent mentioned that this set is close to being discontinued. How true can this be, I don't know and have no confirmation. Nevertheless, I am working on getting a 2nd one, just in case. A friend of a friend offered to sell it for US$200.
  25. Brickdoctor, sir... would you happen to have an extra open White Fett you would like to sell or trade with?... I'm still looking to own one, open of course...
