  1. svelte_corps, your reviewing mania is indeed incredible. I can't stop viewing all of your recent reviews. This is a nice looking set, reminds me of the 7623 Temple Escape, but of course this set is considered a mini version. I like the cementry warriors though, and the torsos could used as part of the castle scenes such as rogue or beggar, and the new armor piece with different finishing. Mutt's bike is very nicely done. In fact, this design is much sleek looking than before. The whole cementry looks rather wide and open, not really dense and creepy like in the movies. Well, the movies was taken at night, but it will be even better if there could be more green pieces to illustrate the forest density. Very good review indeed.
  2. Believe it or not, Eurobricks Reviewer Academy Teacher, svelte_corps has done his very third Indiana Jones review again. This set will be available by mid of this year, but first let's take a look at this incredible medium-sized set, 7196 Chauchilla Cemetery Battle from this movie, Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Find out more of his views and thoughts in Eurobricks LEGO Licensed forum. Will there be any more reviewing surprise coming up? Stay tune with Eurobricks. 3. Nice review. Now, that's a great way of showing your appericiation to the contest! I never had any of such ships before. Although the vessel looks kind of small, but the entire built appear to be pretty solid. There are some very good C.P elements too. Hope the new Pirates theme could release something similar of a medium sized pirate or imperial ship.
  4. This is a very nice waterfall, by the forest. I enjoyed viewing these kind of landscaping, which makes me staring at it with a peaceful mind. Somehow, I feel that this portion of your moc is the beginning of something larger.
  5. Happy Birthday Yoda! Have a great day ahead, with lots of funz and joy in it.
  6. Glad you guys enjoy reading this review of mine. I really love the built of this raft, but the rest of it is kind of common, similar to the rest of the sets. Nevertheless, one of the must get set to complete your Pirate collection. I am almost halfway mark though. Hopefully, I could complete the very first LEGO theme's reviews. It's like working towards my long term goal. Hopefully, I am able to finish it up.
  7. I am really very speechless with this review of yours. It's just so great, and I completely agreed with your rating below. It's scored exactly full marks and trump over the earlier 2 small sets with its mighty range of unique minifigs, tons of great, useful, uncommon parts and accessories, adding along a market vendor stand and a bullock cart. What a great way to add this into your collection. In fact, this set has so much potential and usage to signify and integrate towards other themes. I think I will grab multiple sets of these and it's so much useful for adding it to your parts bin. Outstanding review, and thanks for sharing it with us.
  8. Eurobricks Combo Reviewer Academy Teacher, svelte_corps has done the second Indiana Jones review that will be available by mid of this year. This amazing small set which is equivalent to past Indiana Jones small sets such as the 7620 Motorcycle Chase and 7624 Jungle Duel, the 7195 Ambush in Cairo has scored a full 10/10 in every aspects of this review and there is simply no doubt about it in this Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark movie. 9. Err, what is that postman doing with its yellow bike with that puddle of red stuff at the pavement? I can't figure out what he is doing? There are so many stuff going on down there, and I hope to see more closeup pictures next week when you are free. Good luck in this contest.
  10. Another short interesting quality article written by our TheBrickster. Well, I got a feeling that article was pointing towards me somehow before I click onto this topic, especially when I shared some of my thoughts earlier with you on usage and perception of trains setup in a tabletop town. Reading from this comprehensive article benefits lots especially when I am rather new towards trains system when it has existed for more than 20 years. 9V, 18V, RC, PF are some of these train jargons which I could never understood its real differences, just by reading it. To be honest, I had never touch or operate a train system before, but judging from the "fun" descrption of yours, you are tempting me to start getting some of this real locomotive actions in my future setup. Of course, I am contemplating whether to start getting a PF train set over RC train sets. Both RC train sets are officially in their twilight which are the Passenger Train and the Cargo Delxue. I didn't start investing into any of these, fearing it might have problems with railway system compability issues or way of integrating together that could allow it to co-exist together on a single plastic rail track instead of the new flexi-rail track, which I am still pretty clueless. Another thing to note that, railway systems are much costly to purchase though. Well, this is my perception. In Singapore, the Cargo Train delxue cost about SGD$310 retail price. That same amount could be used to break down to get more sets. Of course, I am not against having train set up in the future. In fact, I will love to have one, especially viewing at the recent exclusive Shop@Home Emerald Night Train is a pure beauty. Come to think of it, I will need to ship this set in, since its not available over here and additional cost are factor into my overall purchase cost. It does involved quite abit of thoughts. If I were given a choice where money is not an issue, between railway systems of RC and PF, which is the better technology to get into, especially when you are in my shoes. Apart from the Emerald Night Train, should I seek out and complete or get one of the RC train sets, before it's completely discontinued. I had read your recommendations, and I did find it pretty useful.
  11. Hi K.D, thanks for taking your time off during your study semester to participate this contest. I really appericate the amount of work and effort which you have put in over the two baseplates. This entry is filled with many classic elements and you sure know how to present it right, with the whole row of Classic Buildings. From the Winter Garden resturant which has awesome details such as its dining area, and the above levels are actually residential area for the owner to stay in. While the single story Bakery shop stay true to its classic design, similar to the 80's Snack Bar outlet. Although there are no bakery shops back then using the new croissant element, but you managed to integrate these recent elements well into this concept. The hotel at the end is just so beautiful, I love how you blend those black and white together, especially the balcony. It's really very neat. Those street vendors hogging at the front of the hotel must be trying very hard to get their hands on those tourists walking out of the hotel. The flower stand seemed very familar to me. By any chance, is that your impulse set entry which we had last year? The entire City Square is filled with excitement and tons of activities coming out from each and every minifigs. Well done. If you don't mind, could you extend a link at the end of your post. I am sure you have more images to share. I wanted to see some of the angles much clearer such as the fountain, the street cleaner and etc. Thanks for sharing, and I am glad you had enjoyed this contest. This entry has been covered by Classic-Town.net
  12. I did miss it somehow, but thanks for reminding there was such a topic exist. A great set to complete your Farm collection.
  13. Hello to all Eurobricks members and avid Pirates' Fans, To continue my Pirates’ journey of reviewing, I am pleased to present the next Pirate set in line below. Feeling excited with the whole range of Pirates’ products does make me wonder what more exciting sets are coming next year. Well, that will be something for us fans to speculate about. For now, let me bring you through these adventurous daring Pirates in the Legend of Kraken Attackin’. Name: Kraken Attackin' Theme: LEGO System / Pirates Year: 2009 Pieces: 78 Minifigs: 2 Price: USD$9.99, GBP 7.85, SGD$21.90 Resources: Brickset, Peeron An image of a 6240, Kraken Attackin' A rear image of a 6240 Kraken Attackin' Pure excitement in these relentless strong tidal waves in the blue ocean where lurking sea monster known as the Krakens which are infamous for devouring savaging sea rats that is seeking for dry lands. With their crusty strong wooden raft and that whole bunch of loot onboard, those dual dynamic Pirates are out for a real taste of sea combat with the other kind. There you go, an adventurous sea battle between treacherous Kraken and the swishing wielding pirates fighting on that small raft. It comes with a good looking wooden raft which is useful to add along with your surviving wreckage scenario and a great new sea monster addition for both Imperial Royal Navy and Pirates to fight upon Instruction Manual plus a mini comic This is a section of the 6240 instruction manual which shows the end of its built, while on the right side of the manual, it shows a mini-comic strip for the builders’ reading enjoyment with some humor in it. Useful parts and accessories Now, what kind of useful parts and accessories does our Kraken Attackin’ set offers? I supposed the main highlight of this set is this dangerous looking dark maroon kraken making a special appearance for the first time with this new color tone. Most people could easily consider it as an octopus. There is a new parrot mascot with a new shade of feathers. The rest of the accessories appear to be rather standard, with a brown musket, a spyglass, two cutlasses and two gems of different colors. The wooden bucket and container crate are great parts to use it as a stockpile to store the loots and supplies. The Stowaways Now, let’s take a look at the stowaways’ profiles. Both of them are wearing the regular Pirates’ outfits that are fairly common in the new Pirates’ sets. I will assume that the meanly nasty looking pirate wearing a tricorner with that smug looking gold tooth is the Captain of this Raft. There is nothing unique with both minifigs. These minifigs come with printed designs at the back. The new friendly parrot pirate mascot seemed to have a new shade of feathers with blended green. When you compared this with the traditional looking red parrot that appear in the Classic Pirates’ sets, I find the past version is much better than the current one. I am not sure if it’s a choice of personal preference, but I find the past version to be much realistic looking. Perhaps, this new parrot could be a new breed in another part of the tropical island region. Who knows? Building up the Raft The built of the raft is actually very sturdy and firm in its design. The use of tan pieces is used to situate at the center base of the raft while brown pieces are used to double up as wooden logs for the raft to support. It appeared to be very realistic looking at both angles. Compared to the older rafts version where they make use of 1x1 yellow round bricks back in those Classic Pirates’ days, these raft is much better constructed and provide a much larger base to add on. Let’s take a look below at its complete built. Different views of the complete Raft There is a viewing stand placed at the center of the raft. Seriously, I don’t know how much weight could one raft support, but it’s definitely needed to be much firm and stronger in order to support the additional weight. Correct me if I am wrong, but I find the finishing design to be a little weird. A nice touch about this design is the insertion of the ladder for the crew to climb up to the viewing bucket to keep a lookout for threats. If I were in the blue ocean with rough tides, the probability of me flipping out of the bucket is kind of high, don’t you think so? Nevertheless, I am fond of its color scheme which looks great for a raft. Possibility of adding something? I find this particular spot will be good to insert a pirate flag in it to indicate others of its presence. On the other hand, there is a possibility of the Pirates excluding the flags away since they might not want others to take note of them as Pirates especially when there is a Imperial Royal Naval Ship nearby. Complete set A real taste of sea combat with the "Other kind" This is one of the good to have Pirates’ set to add into your collection. This set offers a good source of brown and tan parts that allow you to construct a raft or sort it out in your parts bin. Another good reason for collectors to purchase this set, could be the one of a kind dark maroon kraken which is exclusive in this set. Despite of the commonly used pirates’ torsos, I am still pleased with the built of this raft even though there is a fairly tall viewing post in the middle of the raft. This could be a good set for us to get, to create some shipwrecking scenes. Summary review Playability: 8.5/10 (Kraken and Pirates' combat, not bad for a sea battle scene.) Design: 9/10 (The raft design is very good with solid base foundation.) Price: 8.5/10 (A little bit costly on this part of the region due to its amount of parts.) Overall: 8.7/10 (A set which you defintely must have to complete your Pirates collection.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? Hope everyone of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Critics are strongly welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Brickshelf (When moderated)
  14. Me too! Nice review, Natman8000. This is a great small set which complement well with the big farm set. Somehow, I do wish the rear could have some form of carriage behind, pulling it around to store those crops.
  15. Great review! I had never seen this set before as it was released during my dark age. I never knew TLG could produce such a nice train level crossing before in World City. This is one great additional component that could be integrated well into other railway settings. There are many nice printed tiles inclusive of the control panel which look like a subway viewing panel. What a great set for train lovers. I am sure you will have lots of fun playing with the Emerald Night along with the rest of your train collection. Thanks for sharing it with us, and this review has been blogged into Classic-Town.net.
  16. DoctorDude234, our friendly members have given approriate advice, and please do not try the opposite effect. Thanks.
  17. Among the games which I have played so far, this is the fastest game ever without any warning, to see the end of my career. Have fun guys, and I will be watching the progress in this game without me by your side anymore.
  18. A wonderful tour, hosted by you. The entire flow of the visit is defintely an eye opener, with the whole load of chambers housing those ville villians. I can't imagine how "sane" these asylum workers could be, and there is no chance I will stay in there. It look way too creepy and the earlier pictures have certainly create its effect very well, and I love that feeling very much. Great job, for capturing it so well. Thanks for sharing another one of your nice mocs.
  19. Dear Eurobricks members, I will like to invite members whom were given a title before, to write down your past titles, leaving it in here, for amusement, by leaving a very short note beside your profile, as where you think you have gotten your title from. This topic is to be served as an archive, allowing members to remember their past titles in one place. By the way, this idea was inspired by Izzy. Before you proceed any further, This is a warning to all whom has intentions to post in this topic. For those whom are intending to post in here, please try and leave your titles in one single post for each member for the very first post which allow me for easier update. I don't want each title to have a single post, ending up flooding this whole topic. Give me short captions, if you think you know where it comes from. Discussion about others' titles is allowed, but don't cross the line of asking titles or change of titles. Anyone, whom doesn't take heed of my advice, will be in for a nasty surprise. More importantly, this is supposed to be a fun thing! Eurobricks Fellows, feel free to help me out with the update and ensure that this topic stays on track. 20. Geez, it's hard for me to recommend on such complex theme, but if I were to list out some of my favourite sets released so far from the themes without taking budget in consideration. I had also linked EB Reviews for your easy reference from my below recommendation below, 1) City: 7637 Farm Set (Simply fun to play with, with loads of new stuff involved) 2) Pirates: 6242 Soldier Fort (Modular built with tons of great accessories, including the rare Admrial) 3) Castle: 10193 Medieval Market Villiage (The best Castle Civillan set ever. The pictures will speak for itself.) 4) Star Wars: 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack (This battlepack is excellent CW army builder sets) 5) Indiana Jones: 7682 Shanghai Chase (Nice vehicles with whole load of new minifigs) 6) Power Miners: 8958 Granite Grinder (An affordable Power Miners set that demostrate its playability) 7) Creator: 6743 Street Speeder (Good looking green sports car, but not suitable for minifig size)
  21. Hi exxtrooper, I had merged your topic in here, since this request is similar. What themes do you like and your budget? There is so many great sets coming out such as City, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Power Miners, Pirates and etc.
  22. You are creating a Classic Town scene, with minimum use of one road baseplate of any kinds, and supporting baseplates to extend the pavement for your building construction, if required. You can demostrate your building skills that represent Classic Town to you closely. As for the use of the minifigs' heads, one of the main reasons which required the use of traditional minifigs' smiley is to advocate and remember their classic smile that must be used in this contest. Well, the use of these suggested heads can be included, after giving it some thoughts. I will insert a new rule update to allow some flexibility to facilitate the builders' constrain. Rules update: 01/05/2009 With reference to the above point number 4: The following additional Classic Town minifigs' heads are allow in the contest, with these conditions attached below. You are allow to use related minifigs' head that exist in 1990s Town set which also include the use of Paradisa's. You are allowed to use up to 5 non-related Town Minifigs out of 20. The ratio between both, Classic Town must always hold the higher ratio. If you are unsure of what fall under the category, kindly inform me in this thread. I will update the list as it goes. Thanks. 24. Dear all, Rules update: 30/04/2009 With reference to the above point number 4: The following additional Non-Classic Town torsos is allow in the contest, with these conditions attached below. You are allow to use related minifigs' torsos that are not Classic Town nature but similar to Classic Town. You are allowed to use up to 5 non-related Town Minifigs out of 20. The ratio between both, Classic Town must always hold the higher ratio. These minifigs' torso can be used, but it can be a little disadvantage since they are not primarily Classic Town. Ultimately it's up to our community to decide the winner. WhiteFang I had replied. K.D, nice! I am glad that you manage to take your time off to start building an entry during your semester. Can't wait to see what ideas you have in mind. In fact, I am sure you have many wonderful ideas inside your head.
  25. Come on, the contest winner shall be determined by our EB Community via use of voting, I am not the only person whom judge on the entries. To add on, as long the basic rules are followed closely, by illustrating the Classic Town scene which is best suited for the builder, usage of traditional smiley heads, usage of one car and above with doors, and road baseplates which must be cleared by me in advance if they have doubts. For the usage of Classic Town minifigs in terms of "torsos", I did try to enforce it at one time, but I decided to be a little lenient in the aspect. As one of our members had asked me before, if Town Plan minifigs are able to be used in the contest, I given the go ahead for such minifigs to be included as their torsos are closely related to Classic Town. For svelte_corps case, the only torso which is deemed not related to "Classic Town" is the blacksmith torso from the 10193 Medieval Market Villiage which I had just noticed. I will create an exception and update the rules, right now, by allowing others to use related minifigs' torsos that are not Classic Town nature, but allowing up to 5 non-related City Minifigs out of 20, but the ratio between them, Classic Town must always hold the higher ratio. You can used those minifigs' torso, but it will be a little disadvantage. Ultimately its up to our community to decide what is Classic Town. These rules are guidelines which I had placed, and I tend to modify the rules to allow participation as long its reasonable. With regards to svelte_corps earlier questions, I had told him to go ahead and use short legs for the children and some new hairpiece elements for its female minifigs, as he don't have much classic hairpiece in his collection. I had stated my responses inside the discussion thread.
