  1. Thanks, I hope I get to make this mod, because now I can't look at my stock 10240 anymore :)
  2. Thanks! Any parts used that is not in the LDD - for example for the extension of the technic beams? Another question, is the models proportions still acceptable when making the wing longer? Can you show a pic of the wings closed - want to see how close the engines sit together :) Thanks again :)
  3. What an inspired solution! I tried (messed around with LDD for a couple of hours) to find the right elements to create a larger engine with. However, I looked for a few larger parts and not your approach of approximating the shape using numerous smaller elements. The result speaks for itself, well done! Any chance of a parts list for the mod - and possible an LDD or more pics to recreate your engines? :) Cheers M
  4. This is a very nice looking model The level of detail, size and brick count gives us a hint of what an official UCS could look like. However, I would suggest that you gave the main housing a technic skeleton that should link directly into the neck. As it looks right now, I think the weight of the head and neck combined (together with the distance of their centre of gravity in relation to where they are attached) will be too much for what looks like a brick built wall to handle. Also, just moving the model around would benefit from the added structural integrity of a technic skeleton. Anyway, It would be nice to see this in real bricks
  5. Well, Im a bit jealous because I didn't modulize my my frigate and now it is a pain to move - although it is sturdy enough to be carried in one piece :)
  6. You truly display a multitude of building techniques! Building lego mocs is like learning a language as you speak it. Your creativity and experience have rewarded you with an extensive vocabulary and your grammar (the way you combine your techniques) is downright inspiring!
  7. Oh noes! Why didn't I comment on this sooner?! Well maybe it was because I was jealous you could make this awesome moc and modulize it so easily? ;) I remember I had promised to sent you my Nebulon LDD file. But somehow I forgot and you created this instead. Time well spent! Are you coming to Brick2014 in London? :)
  8. Bob, Bob, Bob… Where to begin… Hmm…. You did this while at work?!?! :) Im a big admirer of your designs, but I especially like the story you put behind every model. You are creating your own Expanded Universe with these mocs :) Keep them coming!
  9. This is a very nice looking set! Built using classic UCS technique - technic skeleton with plate surface. A brick built technique could have been used though, but plates have their own lego charm and gives the model texture. Anyway it looks much better than the old playset. I do imagine though, that I would try to cover up those studs a bit. The solution for the windows is, while certainly very stable, a bit cheap looking and deserves some modding as well. All in all this set not only has display value but looks fun to build (and even to play with?!? :D )
  10. Hi Fox, I completely understand your frustrations :) It is nice to hear your thoughts on the tough choices you did with this build, but I must say that I consider your model about a as perfect as can be . Personally I always find things I would change to my models and I suspect you'll continue to do so for several years with this model :) But, where will you place the support/legs? PS: I am glad the research Aeroeza did for my project has been a been a reference to you ;)
  11. Hi Fox. Having studied the Executor film model obsessively, I have to comment on your herculean undertaking. My only problem is that I find myself lost for words - well almost ;) Your model dwarfs the film model and captures almost EVERY detail. Not compare in any way, but I did a rebuild of the rather clumsy 10221, and added as much detail I could using the film model. Needless to say, at that scale, there were a lot of compromises and places where I simply had to interpret the source material rather freely to get the desired 'feel' rather than look. Your model seems to abandon the notion of compromise, but I am curious. Looking at your model nothing seems out of place - maybe the width between the upper and lower hull is ever so slightly too wide, but I am not certain. Do you have any areas you still would like to improve upon? And how have you built it without a core – is the design even feasible? :)
  12. Hi Taiphun, I lowered the angle of the entire top. This mean the the backmost of the city was lowered about a brick height I think. The middle part was lowered a plate or two - but I cant remember exactly anymore :)
  13. I'm a fan! :) Great story and very well done scenes! I like the level of detail you have crammed in on what looks like a 24 stud long Nebulon B, very creative Please post a few more pics of it so I can compare it to my own 23 stud version :)
  14. Thanks, I've bought the bricks at www.bricklink.com
  15. Lets swoosh our mocs together! ...
  16. It can be swooshed when holding at the neck - this means a bit of greebling will fall of though So the neck is sturdy enough, however the model will bend a little bit when lifted at the middle of the neck neck only - the front and back weighs a bit
  17. Hi eddmont. I recreated your mod but I have made two minor changes. My version is one stud shorter and the middle indent i not sloped but much more flat - more in line with the studio model. Otherwise you are spot on!
  18. Thanks :) Looking forward to seeing your work :)
  19. By reference materials I mean; pictures of the set, concept drawings or simply looking at the movie over and over again. Your model has incredible details so I guess you must have looked at something for inspiration while building Do you have a brick count estimate?
  20. Hi Markus, this is an excellent mod full of details and great lighting. It captures to scene perfectly Some quick questions: what reference materials did you use and do you have any ldd/intructions for the model you would consider sharing? Best Morten
  21. Dust off you lego at least once a week - that way you don't get that layer of 'dust-coat' that has to be washed off. Dusting off is also a good excuse to spend time with your lego while doing an activity your better half cant argue against... ;)
  22. Interesting, I might give that a try and see how it looks. However, the idea with the trans-blue dishes was to give an impression of engine glow/exhaust, so they werent meant to look integrated. But I'll give a go - thanks for the feedback :)
  23. Thanks, very infomative! This is indeed a very unique build :) It is also very inspirering to see what can be made from the Expanded Universe - two big thumbs up!
  24. This is incredible :) I was wondering, do you gave any pictures if the internals? Im very curious as to how you have laid out the skeleton for this beast - it is a feat of engineering :)
  25. Regarding cuusoo, besides that it doesnt seem like a possibility anymore, I also think the design, size, brickcount and brick type count would disqualify my moc - even as a UCS. Official sets tend to have a much cleaner look and a very optimized brickcount. I wanted to make a very detailed version of the Nebulon B to fit in with the rest of my modded/mocced 'UCS' collection :) I am sure that if ever TLG did the Nebulon B as a UCS the set it would be cleaner looking and it wouldn't be a 400$+ set - especially considering that it is a somewhat less profilic ship :)
