people seem to forget that the UN also uses tanks, armoured vehicles and weapons, to preserve law and order, protect the weak,... "violence" in itself isn't good or bad, it's neutral. It's HOW you approach violence. you can use a gun to protect your family in a life threatening situation or you can rob a bank with it. i think tlc would be able to produce sets in which the focus is not the negative aspect of violence, but the positive. unfortunately, tlc would have to communicate and explain this to the customers (parents AND children) extremely well, and we all know that communication is not TLC's strongest point. in my view, tlc should be able to release "UN sets", where the focus is not so much on the tanks, guns,... but on how you can use those to do positive things. i can see a set with a huge human aid tent where people are being treated by medics, and protected by smiling soldiers in humvees or so... the "smiling" seems to be extremely important. TLC gets complaints from parents that the new faces are far too aggressive. In any case, TLC can't go any further than that. there simply would be too much protest from parents. let's not forget that TLC has always taken a very strong moral ground against violence. changing now would give major image problems.

i was going to buy the death star, but since that's crap, i guess i've got enough to buy me at least one crawler... whether it will stay that way, depends on the quality of the work. if it's really brilliant, perhaps i might buy a second crawler next year or, if it's still in the shop, a year later. i don't think i'll buy the other SW sets, except for the clone turbo tank, so i still have some financial reserves... by the way, bricklink is in many ways a lot cheaper than TLC. i just bought 2500 2 x 2 bricks for 40$ (+38$ shipping costs). a 1000 of these via s&h costs 70 euro!

thank you very much, yoda601. this forum was beginning to sound like a dating service! :P

honestly, i think we've got a "dino overkill" on our hands. this is, i don't know, third? fourth? theme with dinos in how many years? two?, three? seems to me that the lego guys have depleted their creativity source... and it's getting difficult to even distinguish these sets from other typical dino toys... a dutch member of de bouwsteen suggested Jan Beyer to set up "historical" themes, like Romans,... Beyer said he would give the message to the designers. let's just hope that they pick it up...

perhaps he can "fly" it away. it is after all a space ship... :P

and with "HUGE" Bloody Jay means: 50cm wide, 50cm deep and 25cm high. i believe it weighs about 9 kg... Make sure you've got enough room for it in your suitcase... by the way, don't you have to pay any export tax for this? after all, this is not something you can hide in your jacket...

not in my town/country! *sing* *sing* *sing*

true... but there's more than one crawler and i'm afraid we're only getting one, not entire fleet... :'( :'(

i guess TLC will go for the ep4 scene in which all sorts of droids are being sold to customers. i think that's the best known sandcrawler scene of all, and its non-violent the second scene with the sandcrawler in ep4, with dead bodies, doesn't really show any functionality of the crawler. it's just standing there... it is in fact not even envolved in the story at that time. i think the most logical decision of TLC would have been to include Luke and the uncle. for some reason, unknown to me, they didn't do that.

it seems they don't change them. shopkeepers just seem to wait until these boxes are empty and that's it... they started with these boxes in august last year and they're still in the shop. however, all that's left now is a huge pile of crappy parts. you have to be very fast to get the best bricks. after a month or so, every one has taken every valuable part out of it... however, i do hope that TLC will continue with this experiment, 'cause according to one of the shopkeepers, that's exactly what it is... but i also found some prety interesting parts...

this "pick a brick" in Paris you were talking about. is that basically a cardboard box with all sorts of bricks in it? essentially, bricks that comes straight from tlc's overstock? i remember a shopkeeper who got three of those boxes. one was completely filled with dark gray plates (8 x 16), the others had lots of useless bricks in the most unthinkable colors...

why isn't my quote working as it should? i was refering to Mshiels' text...

all the better, don't you think? :oo :oo

right now, nobody knows anything more than what Jan stated. Let's just wait and see what happens in summer. it seems very likely that bricklink and e-bay will be used by individuals as channels to sell these sets . TLC can't do anything about that... that's just the globalisation of the free market... in fact, it seems unlikely that TLC will use the bricklink for these transactions themself. they're not too keen on the bricklink...

yes i did. it was a response of Jan Beyer to an e-mail question from a member of the dutch LUG "de bouwsteen": "...Thank you for the info. One question: if there is enough interest from De Bouwsteen-members for the Dino Attack sets would it be possible to arrange something with S@H USA so that we can order it? To Sybrands question: Could be that there will be a chance to get some of the Dino Attacks sets from S@H USA hvis der will be enough people who are interrested. Once the sets are on the market we can talk again and i will try to find out." its on the website of "De bouwsteen"; www.debouwsteen.com/forum_viewtopic.php?30.7251 they're mixing dutch and english together in mails, so don't be surprised if you don't understand the entire thread...

how can you vote for vikings? officially, there is no viking theme yet! you just saw some photos! Vikings should be disqualified! :P
-
i heard one the TLC's representatives say that TLC might, let me repeat that before you get insane, MIGHT, sell dinosets thru s&h and probably organised via European Lego Users Groups to Europeans... If there's enough demand... Perhaps they might be persuaded to sell a limited number of vikingsets thru NA-groups in the US as well... In any case, Americans will be able to buy the vikings via Bricklink or E-bay,... I'm only afraid that these prices will not be fair... after all, original price is in euro, and demand will be high... the best way, i guess, is to visit Europe later in the year and get 'm yourself...

fbtb just deleted the message and the links. he thinks it's fake... and he's most likely right... *devil* *devil* *devil* perhaps we should end this discussion as well?

this Slave 1... might that be a remake of the old sets? this would be a third version! couldn't they just remake the at st and the b-wing first?
-
i've got great memories of the Blacktron 1 *satis* , before my Dark Ages started. however, it was Star Wars that brought me back. so i'll vote for that one. |-D

i've seen a mega block tank (Abrams) in the shop and i must say, from the outside, that really looks cool. unfortunately, the bricks lack quality, the concept to use bricks is basically stolen from TLC and at least this model had no interior design what so ever... however, if TLC were to build a copy or at least something similar, i'd buy it without any hesitation... and by the way, let's forget that lego is only for rich, megablock only for the poor... I'm not sure if TLC would agree with such a statement... nor would I...

Official site now up for Lego Star Wars video-game

this really looks cool!!! |-D it's a bit weird that these minifigs are so flexible! they're doing all sorts of things a real minifig can't. That's quite a new world for them... and for me... -
trust me, they will ship this viking set to the US. it would be suicidal for TLC to make all these costs to build this theme, to do research, to produce the necessary machines, software,... only for HALF the market. where would they get the funds to pull a stunt like that? they've never split up their production like this! and can anybody explain me why Americans and Europeans would be divided over this theme? why would Americans hate this, contrary to Europeans? we've been talking about this theme on this forum... Can you see any real difference between the Europeans and the Americans, based on their messages only? I'll stick to my theory ...and hope i'm right about this... >-|

technic links are quite expensive and numerous. so the entire design might be rather simple (plates instead of bricks) in favor of a more complex undercarriage. it should also be large, why otherwise use links instead of rubber? can't wait to see this... :oo any thought on when there will be a picture?
