  1. This is what I do for Arthur. (Incidentally, it's also why I've so meticulously had Arthur read all the Quest books, and why I came up with the journals at the beginning--I'm kind of OCD about IC-versus-OOC knowledge.) But, if everyone else participating thinks I should abstain, I'll abstain. (Oh, Pie, you could justify reading the other Quests by saying that McCafferey knows what's happening but refuses to tell Atramor. That way if you slip-up you can say that McCafferey slipped up while chatting with you. )
  2. YES! YES! Give this man a medal! I, too, want to eventually write a Quest from the Shadeaux perspective, but that's a back-burner project for me. (I reserve a Shadeaux character named "Lord Basil" for this Quest, though, since I've already written plot points and dialogue for him.) Currently, I'm working on a concept for another under-used House, the Ji Pei (who, if I recall, have never appeared on a Quest that would allow the heroes to gain their favor).
  3. "Surely you have heard the tales of a Mage of matchless ingenuity and foreknowledge of discoveries hundreds of years before his time? The tales are, of course, much exaggerated, but it is true that this Mage, despite being physically weakest of all the Heroes of Bric'bay, orchestrated mighty siege works and defensive strategies against the invading Elven forces. I am that Mage. Arthur Justus Regulus, the Seventh. The enemy shall look upon my power and despair. But that is not all. "I have traveled in this great world, and have gathered much of its wisdom. I have learned that a sharpened tongue is greater than any sword, and that times of seeming peace may belie conflict greater than any battle. If anyone can convince these rebels to stand down, then it is I; and if they cannot listen to reason, then with a heavy heart and a mighty fist I shall make them listen." Arthur is taken momentarily aback by the fierceness of his speech, but upon reflection he finds his words true. "Lady..." Arthur concentrates, remembering names that Count Knyghton had mentioned in passing, before finding one that might belong to this woman. "Lady Leofwena, if Count Knyghton and Sir Lawrence trusted Sir Alexandre, Miss Isabella, and I in the defense of Bric'bay, and certainly did not find us wanting, then surely you will not, either. As for Skrall, here, he has faced dark powers far greater than even the Mage you spoke of could have imagined, and he did not fail, nor did he falter. He posesses a wisdom far beyond any of us, and brings order to chaos. He is indeed a worthy companion, and a worthy leader, and he shall lead us to success and victory. I cannot imagine any more would be required."
  4. OK, now that I can actually post publicly again: SCUM HOW IN F***ING HELL DID YOU KNOW ABOUT BEAR AND ME NIGHT 1?!?!?! *Pant* *pant* sorry, I've been holding that in ever since Goldy was found innocent and Bear mentioned on the Dead writeboard that he told no one. I've gone over my PMs a hundred times and still can't figure out where the leak was. I have plenty of ranting to do at people, but I'll wait a while for that. GREAT game, Scum, once Sleeping got my trust Town was doomed. I also plan to post the important bits of my PM chains (slightly cleaned for lauguage ) just so people can see the insanity (and my fail strategy )
  5. "I chatted with Elphaba about it last time I was in the Hall, yes. As long as I am not Blinded, I can heal up to 14 damage per round, to one ally. Handily, it is also effective against the undead, should we encounter them." Arthur paused, then spread his inventory before Skrall, the better to illustrate and assess his capabilities to his Party Leader. "I believe that, since I am in posession of the Healing Staff and all of the Scrolls, I will spend most of any battles we fight on healing and status-effects, unless we come across a humanoid enemy that would be weak to my Amethyst. If we DO run across undead, Sir Alexandre and Miss Isabella both posess two Fire Bombs apiece that can damage them, but after that I will be the only one capable of harming them." OOC: This might be better suited for Rules and Discussion, but...if Skrall were to use his Heavy Crossbow on an undead creature, I know it wouldn't deal any damage, but would it still knock the creature to the Back Row?
  6. Arthur nods to his Party Leader. "I'm glad I have the opportunity to Quest with you, friend. Isabella here is a bit quiet, but that just makes her sneakier, and her courage is not to be underestimated. Sir Alexandre's expertise in defensive fortifications is matched only by my own, and he is more than experienced on the field of combat. I feel we are all prepared as we can be for what lies ahead."
  7. I missed the point about that being a dream at first, and I was incredibly confused and totally jealous for a moment.
  8. "That just leaves our Party Leader. All right, Isabella, if you feel prepared, then you are prepared." Arthur smiles reassuringly at her. He was taking his position as second-in-command very seriously, drawing on the skills he had developed reassuring the Lion Knights as Bric'bay over the course of the whole battle.
  9. Got a driver error at 6:49 PM Pacific Time or so, fixed itself in the time it took to save the screenshot but still thought it would be worth reporting. And, link because the screenshot is too big for forum rules: http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/poochythegenius/EurobricksDriverError2012-04-20.jpg
  10. Your knowledge of this subject both excites and terrifies me.
  11. Arthur looks at his staff, then back at Simbad, then back at his staff, then back at Simbad. "Argh! This is what I get for trying to learn staff techniques from a freaking Sage!" OOC: Ahaha, if Atramor or Althior were here, it'd be even better.
  12. OOC: I'm laughing so hard I almost can't post! Arthur, oblivious to the annoyance of the travelers, turns back to Simbad. "Now you try it!" OOC:
  13. "I understand." Arthur looks down the road, but sees that the other two Heroes still have not caught up. "Perhaps we can run through some basic training drills while we wait? I know that the use of a staff is slightly different than using a pike, but there are defensive techniques for both that are very similar, and may prove useful one day." Arthur steps a safe distance away from Isabella, the farmer, and the sheep, and demonstrates.
  14. Hmm...maybe a full-on CUUSOO index would be too much, but maybe a dedicated thread for parts suggestions...don't we already have something like that in the Embassy, though? Have people been using it to link to CUUSOO proposals for their new part ideas?
  15. There is no such thing. I will be severely disappointed in myself if I don't manage to generate at least a full page's worth of roleplaying on this Quest.
  16. "How is it doing? Are the repairs and enhancements complete yet? And has Count Knyghton had time to improve upon the siege weapon designs we used there?"
  17. "Well, hopefully we Heroes can do something about that. And, of course, Count Knyghton, Sir Lawrence, and the cleric Luke; how are they doing? Did the Count ever finish rebuilding Bric'Bay with the plans we drew up? And how have those new siege weapon designs been working out for the Lion Knights, surely he's had a little time to improve on my flimsy spur-of-the-moment efforts, yes?"
  18. (emphasis mine) I think everyone's good.
  19. "Simbad, if I ever get some down time, I must see about learning some of your ways. You work such miracles in agricultural and pastoral fields, perhaps you could work one more by teaching an inept Mage such as myself how to at least passably tend such things, should the need ever arise." OOC: For clarity: I named the pikeman Simbad, he needed a name so I could roleplay. I thought the Lion King pun would go well with your naming scheme, Doc.
  20. Exactly. I suck at dodging, between lag and general failness I get hit a LOT. With decent equips, I have a fair shot at surviving the abuse. It should also be pointed out, there is a LOT less demand for higher-tier sword-class gear compared to the robe classes and the hide armor classes, meaning that if I DO ever get some pots I can get more for my "money".
  21. That sounds like a very good idea; I haven't used the CMF trading thread as of yet, but it seems to be very orderly, and the concept seems to fit the spirit of CUUSOO rather well.
  22. "Well, I have a Healing Staff and all possible Scrolls, as well as Darkness and Ice magic. Perhaps you should pick up some potions and the like at the Marketplace? I've also heard a Magic Compass annoys the heck out of Qms can be helpful as well, though I leave that to your discretion entirely. I have everything I require, you should make sure you have everything you want." Arthur returns Isabella's smile. It was good to be with friends. He felt this group would be well-suited for anything that lay ahead. While he waits for the others to prepare, he walks over to one of the sheep and begins petting it gently.
  23. Doc, I have to say: lovin' the sheep! Seeing your builds is fully half the fun of the Quest.
  24. OOC: Everything looks good. "Hail, Simbad! It is good to see you again. I am ready for this Quest, and I trust my companions will join us shortly."
  25. Arthur quickly bids good-bye to his friends and follows the pikeman out of the Hall.
