I find it very amusing that people think the U.S. government can be described as "working". Oh, yes, our government is doing an excellent job of making sure every voice is heard fairly and equally, and acting in everyone's best interests, not just the interests of a few. Not sure why there's such a huge surge of support for Jun. Did he really super impress people last time he showed up, or do people just want to avoid making King Guts an actual thing?

Sometimes a civilization isn't ready for democracy. In particular, one that's heavily dis-unified and has no national identity will do poorly with representative government; at best, you get interminable stalemate as all the disparate factions squabble over what should be done (see: many modern governments), while at worst you get uprising and revolution as the various non-majority parties decide to take their ball and go home. And from their perspective, why would they accept being overruled? They've spent their time in the past being able to freely do what they want, so long as they have enough muscle to back themselves up. They have no patriotism, no nationalism tying them to the rest of the society. With the total number of different factions being so large (and thus their portion of the population and overall military might being so widely divided), there's no reason for them not to revolt to get what they want...which in this case will lead them straight into the arms of the Wolfgang. I should also point out that if we're bringing real-world examples into this, the USSR started with an idea of a number of rulers temporarily ruling absolutely until their dictatorship was no longer necessary. We all know how well that ended. If we're going by history, promises of "I will only keep this power as long as necessary" are not to be trusted, since they inevitably end up being claimed to be "necessary" forever.

Arthur nods slowly as he sees Hybros and Purpearl both purchase Coat Hangers. "Wise purchases. I will take a Coat Hanger as well." (1582-300=1282) EDIT: "Sorry to make so many requests at once, but what would an Icy Halberd run me?"

Hey, Zepher, just to check, casting a Scroll of Elemental Aura on an ally through an Etherial Topaz would cause their attacks to be both Lightning-elemental and deal Stunned, right?
-
Well, it's that time again. I'm making progress behind-the-scenes on preparations for my next two Quests, but I still need help with sets--specifically, buildings and indoor scenes. If anyone's available to assist, I'd greatly appreciate it.
-
"My half-brother Noel. Though he tends to favor Darkness and Ice a little more. Perhaps I'll buy your other Etherial Topaz for him as well, he doesn't have a Topaz of his own yet. Maybe a second Scroll of Elemental Aura as well." Arthur frowns at the prices listed. "I think I'll pass on the Scrolls, those pauldrons are tempting...how about a Mail of the Renegade Commander, would that be any cheaper?" (1882-300=1582) Arthur chuckles at Hoke. "As often as I've seen you glancing at my cape, I'm surprised you aren't asking for one yourself, Hoke."

...you do realize that the smaller the odds you give, the more likely it is to actually happen, right? Using round numbers doesn't help, either.
-
No, I'm just assuming it will have some use, or if not it will at least have some interesting flavor text. When I was talking about waiting before making a ton of purchases, I was mostly referring to the special orders.

Arthur buys a copy of Of Power and Mortals, as well as a Scroll of Elemental Aura. "I think I know a mage or two back in Eubric who might be interested in one of these," he says, thinking of Noel. "How much would it cost for a Scroll of Frailty, Scroll of Fear, and Scroll of Love? How about a set of Spesialian Spiked Pauldrons?" (2012-130=1882)

I kinda want to see what Grogmas gifts come into existence before I do a whole lot of purchases, but I think there's a couple I can make right off the bat.

I love how we're on a magical island unmoored from time itself, with some kind of major intrigue and lore and people and Very Important Things, and yet the entire party, to the last man, has been all "well, that's nice. NOW LET'S GO SHOPPING!" xD ...also, from now on, I'm imagining Zeus talking like Soos. Just because. xD
-
Miirym smiles softly to herself, then frowns in confusion. She makes a note to speak to Lady Felix later. "And I would as well," Arthur says, he and Miirym stepping up next to Hoke as he approaches Zeus." Arthur glances at the disembodied skull in a jar that had spoken before returning his attention to Zeus. "Your...uh...friend there reminds me a lot of an aura I used to know. Finnegan, he was called. Odd fellow. Always getting him and his master into trouble. I'm glad Miirym here didn't take after him." Miirym blows smoke at Arthur, more affectionate than angry. "<Have care, Arthur. Perhaps I may have to amend my ways.>" There is tension in her voice--nervousness, perhaps--but no true venom behind her empty threat. Arthur rolls his eyes and pats Miirym's head, a surprisingly difficult feat given her size. He looks back to Zeus. "So! Would the Electrical Emperor of Etheria have anything of use for a Eubrican Dragoon and his companion?"

Yes, but spells ignore weapon effects so you can cast spells through it just fine. ...KotZ, we literally just covered this:
-
I'd personally rule that it can't be used on a hostile enemy. If the enemy has the ability to flee, the Quest Master will allow them to do so (provided no one has a Shackles of War equipped) and will decide when and if they will do so; if they cannot flee on their own, then they will not flee on their own, simple as that. I suppose in a situation where a character is being held hostage on the enemy side or some such scenario, the feather could be used to free them, but I'd rule that the Hero would have to take a turn to give the feather to said character and then the character could use it on their next action. That's an incredibly specific scenario, however, so I doubt it would come up often.

Arthur glances around the city center, looking to see if he could spot any sort of shops or smithies. Miirym remains close, nearly wrapping around Arthur as she tries to take up as little space as possible. She sniffs warily, eavesdropping on Melquiades and Lady Felix while she waits for her partner to make his move.

While we're on the subject of clarifications, it was ruled a long while back that a Mystic Knight SHIELD will heal the allied party using the spellspin mechanic, rather than attacking the enemies (with the exception being undead enemies).
-
You can only enhance the weapon you're using for your actual attack. Don't worry, though, casting spells through the Healing Staff is still the best idea; it's only a minor WP decrease from the Cannonblade (which can quickly be remedied with Enchantment), and your spells will still deal damage as usual.

Arthur nods along with Piglina's explanation, noting her mention of a Chaomancer on the Council. I wonder...how much do they know? He makes a mental note to meet with the man himself. "That sounds like an excellent idea. Melquiades, City Center." "<Melquiades, City Center,>" Miirym intones an instant later. It was clear she did not wish to be separated from her companion in this unfamiliar place.

Arthur pauses, lost in thought. "I...see. That would explain a few things, though I am surprised he never mentioned Etheria to me. Then again, our relationship is...complicated, I suppose." The ex-Weather Mage shrugs. "What can you tell me about the Council? What do you do, what are the rest of the Council like, et cetera?"

Arthur has plucked the flower before Piglina's words have fully registered. "Wait...Althior? You know--" In that instant, Arthur's mind--or is it body?--is whisked away to another moment, whether "past' or "future" he cannot tell. A few short moments later, he is "back". "...that...was..." Arthur shakes his head to clear it. It doesn't help. "Now I understand why my father never brought me here as a child. I could never have handled it." Arthur looks to Miirym with concern. "Are you all right, Miirym?" "<I experienced nothing out of the ordinary,>" Miirym sniffs haughtily, before locking eyes with Arthur. "<Do not worry about me, Arthur. I am a Dragon. I will endure. Your safety is the bigger concern.>" Arthur nods. "Stay close." "<Always.>" Arthur turns back to Piglina. "You mentioned Althior. How do you know him? And who exactly is this Bombast character?"

"Arthur Ziegfried," Arthur offers to the Selkreeth and the...were-pig?...who stand before the party. "And my companion, Miirym." "<Greetings.>" "May I?" he asks the pair, indicating the delicate pink blossoms underfoot. If neither the Selkreeth nor the were-pig object, Arthur picks one of the flowers.

All right, I think that's everyone now?

Yeah, shower Quintessa in it instead. ...wait, what do you mean that's not what you meant?

There's a fair few great suggestions already there; for several of mine I just ended up repeating someone else's suggestion.

I went ahead and made a quick last-minute edit to condense my suggestions for Sandy's convenience. Sorry to the folks I didn't manage to get to! I've been under the weather for the last few days, and probably will be for a few more. If I have time and inspiration and Sandy doesn't announce the deadline has passed/lock the topic, I'll try to come up with some more gifts in the morning.
