Maybe there's a reason Arthur didn't like her when they first met...they're so similar. (Well, that and Arthur was in a weird place mentally, but...)
-
Both of your versions look great, WBD, but I personally prefer the blue, ice-mage version. There's just something about her I like a lot more. Out of curiosity, do you have a Garnet gem? A brown or black "underground" version might be a nice variation.

Alright then. But if the Heroes find a staff that lets the user summon Chaos Beasts or demons... Of course not. Of course, Arthur didn't specify that the Tome of Chaos spoke, but then again, that's the sort of detail that would naturally be kept hidden. I still think it's another copy of the same book in-universe, though. Of course, I'm sure this IS the Temple of Zoot that Wren and Roderick discovered with the Gray Wizard--I'm sure Zeph coordinated that with you in the writing for 38.

Because he's been a jerk to pretty much everyone else in the party. Did you notice how everyone who had the urge to stop Guts from taking the book held back, because they decided he deserved to get zapped?

That still leaves Benji, Cinna, and Thothwick alive, and if Skuld sides with Nerwen, then the Quest fails... Hmm, actually, now that I think of it, Thothwick is pretty beastly, stat-wise. If he buys a Scroll of Confusion and imbues it into his armor, he'll become completely immune to the vast majority of Arthur's abilities...

Talking Book - Immune to fire, makes snippy remarks now and then. Prevents Fleeing. Artifact, Accessory. PvP!! PvP!! PvP!! PvP!!

PvP!! PvP!! PvP!! PvP!! Seriously, Nerwen, Obelix, Benji, just attack him. You know you want to...
-
Evil talking book that's tied into Nerwen's roleplaying, though... If it means she turns up Witch later, I'd rather she get it; Guts doesn't need an excuse to turn Rogueish.

I swear that post did not appear on my screen until after you posted that. Seriously, I looked. Bug related to the double-post, perhaps?

So wait, if the party just leaves Namyrra and William behind, what? Are they permanently killed? Erm... Or she could turn out like Arthur--after all, he's read the grimoire of the Temple he explored, and we know how that affected him... Sandy, I have to ask, did you draw on Arthur and Wren's backstories for the details of Zoot here, or is this another case where my pre-written backstory details are eerily similar to the canonical details of major plot and NPCs?
-
You know, I'm tempted to ask this via PM, but I feel it's a discussion that ALL QMs and potential QMs can learn from. What do you do if one or more players are being very passive and don't seem to be very engaged with the Quest? Conversely, to those players who are mainly passive: what makes you that way? Is there anything we as hosts can do to increase your interest, or to make you want to involve yourselves more in our Quests? This is one of my biggest fears as I construct my Quest, so I'd like to know what positive choices I can make and/or what mistakes I should avoid.

Wait, why are you trying to blind the admin of the small LEGO forum that I frequent?!?[/completelyoff-topicpun]

I've sort of given up on not doing that; aside from a few very specific choices, from late Quest 31 onward I've just used my own views, tweaked to fit the world of Heroica. Very much so. Nerwen is clearly far more complex than even I had imagined. I look forward to it. Nah, let's just wait until Etzel's Shadeaux-Hinckwell Quest and slaughter each other there. ...though the Arena hasn't been touched in forever...

What she said. Though that's basically Arthur's reaction, only she's calm enough not to raise her weapon against a fellow party member. I think it's been sufficiently established that Arthur does not share that particular reservation. Chromeknight, what tool do you use for your Elven statements? I'd very much like to be able to read some of her native tongue. Also, Sandy, do you think Quest 44 will be back in time for the Ji Pei Quests? Pie, with the added delay, do you think your Quest will be back in time for the last Wren Quest?

Arthur'll have taken a Nostrum too, though...

Guts has a really, really strict worldview, and unlike Cronk he doesn't bother to be diplomatic about what he says. (Note how even Cronk lost some of Arthur's respect because of this towards the end of Quest 38.) Arthur is, for the most part, on the side of Chaos, which to Guts seems to automatically mean "evil". Even if Guts didn't automatically attack Arthur for being a Chaos-aligned Mage, he would very likely say something slighting Arthur's beliefs, and (as we saw with Haldor), Arthur won't take that lying down, whether or not he's actually right. Plus, it's more than likely that, on a Quest, Guts would do something to a rare artifact like he tried to do to the book of Chaos in the Temple of Zoot. Trust me: if Arthur had seen you do that, he would have a.) called Guts a fool for attempting to destroy Chaotic knowledge that (in Arthur's view) is inherent in the nature of the world, and then b.) laughed in his face for thinking he even had the power to destroy such knowledge. EDIT: Arthur also doesn't take well to racial epithets, especially directed towards his friends. (Calling De'kra "demonspawn" is yet another quick way to get on Arthur's nerves.) Guts acts bluntly superior to everyone else, and Arthur doesn't like people who think they're better than others, anyway. In short, both are characters who respond strongly, sometimes even violently about what they believe, and their beliefs are diametrically opposed. That's not going to end well no matter how you slice it.

Honestly, if Arthur ever met Guts, he would legitimately try to kill him. I simply cannot see any interaction whatsoever between those two that would not result in direct combat, unless one or both of us broke character. Seriously, QMs, do not put Guts and Arthur together even by chance, it WILL destroy the mission. You should totally go back to the Sanctuary and find out if that's the case.

In my view, generally speaking Rogue earnings should not be considered for loot distribution; however, in a large battle with lots of Heroes but few items, Rogues who earn a lot of Gold in-battle should keep in mind that this will likely put you at the bottom of the loot distribution tree, simply because you HAVE gained something good from the battle while the other Heroes have not. That said, if there's an item that's perfectly suited to a Hero roleplaying-wise, special consideration should be given for that even if it means matchmaking item swaps; story is THE biggest strong point of the game, and our game-mechanical abilities should reflect this.

Sandy, I don't know if you saw my comment before, but...can we please get some more pictures and/or building instructions for Mephisto? Pretty please?

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/357610/Darth-Vader-to-be-resurrected >_< Seriously, Disney? After so many of us expressed faith that these new movies might be good?! If this is not a hoax (though I really, really, REALLY hope it is), I'm disassociating myself with Star Wars. My years of lightsaber training, my huge collection of LEGO Star Wars and other Star Wars memorabilia will become a badge of shame, rather than the token of honor it once was; I shall have to bury them in a deep vault, never to see the light of day again.

Hey, Sandy, weird question: can Scrolls and/or gems be imbued into a Knight's shield? It's just a thought that came to mind when working on...secret stuff.

Had to be done.

I, personally, love the idea of some more PvP. I'd say, run this like a cross between Dastan and Quest 17--the Heroes on each team can take any path they want, and do anything they want (within reason) with the raw materials and supplies they come across, whether that means fighting each other or laying traps for each other or taking the time to search the area for hidden loot or to clear a dungeon full of treasure, etc. If they wanted to, they could even just join forces, clear the whole area together, and duke it out at the end to see who gets the prize. I like a freeform Quest like that, and would love to join the Shadeaux on it.

Easy solution: you guys use a Smoke Bomb, return to the Sanctuary, and then tackle some more "easy" challenges to raise your Level and HP, and gain some extra consumables along the way. Sure, it'll take longer, but you'll actually have a better shot at beating the hard challenges that way. Shoot, I didn't do that yet? I was juggling somewhere around four different PM threads yesterday, plus taking care of a litter of kittens and their mother that my family just caught, plus dealing with college work...it was hectic yesterday.

Hmm, the Pseudos are indeed very interesting...I'd like to get to see more of them at a later date.
