  1. Funnily enough, I was just thinking the same thing. In fact, I've been playing around for a few weeks with plans for a character in Heroica Theatre who's a ventriloquist (I haven't found a good "lesson" to put them in, but I'm still in the early stages of concept design anyway). Jebs, if you'd like, drop me a PM and we can start working it out.
  2. "Some thoughts, Lord Boomingham. You can Counterstrike any of the spiders from the Back Row without taking damage. I suggest we leave Spider B untargeted so you can Counterstrike it. I'll take Spider C, since I can kill it in one hit, and I suggest you take the gator. Em should take Silver." Arthur casts Frailty on Arrogant Spider C and casts an Ice spell at Arrogant Spider C from the Back Row. "Should I take a Smelling Salts, or would it just be a waste of a perfectly good consumable?"
  3. Latest post in Quest 70. Arthur should've been a Knight.
  4. has just realized that he's a huge hypocrite about PM response procrastination. :-{

  5. *big long complicated response and explanation that I'm not posting because spoilers* Sorry. Was going to make a point, then I realized that it would be really off-topic, then realized that I HAVE an example that presents an interesting spin on the discussion, then realized that I would be robbing my own Quest of like half of its interestingness in the process by explaining the motivations of
  6. I...really like this one. Well done, I think we've finally found a good summon-based Expert Class. I like how no matter how hard I try, I can't find a way to break the class--and yet, it's not overly restrictive--that's a rarity. Pie: I agree on the fighter, not on the Puppetteer himself--hexing is fine, considering flavor and the fact that the Puppetteer is getting rather good SHIELDs from his puppets. Perhaps a good Fighter SHIELD would be: SHIELD - Hunker Down: the Puppetteer and all his puppets take 1/2 damage (rounded down) for the next Round.
  7. Arthur blushes as Boomingham points out Karie's uncomfortable proximity--he himself hadn't fully noticed the ramifications of the situation until that moment. Gee, thanks, Alexis. It was funny--just a few months earlier, he would have been painfully aware of the experience from the moment the Rogue had started moving toward him. A lot had changed since then. He threw an awkward glance at the woman pressed against him. Who is this girl, really? Why on Olegaia would she know Violetta? And why do I get the feeling that no one, not even Arnulf, has seen the real her in a long, long time? Speaking of Arnulf, the party's other Rogue still stood in front of the rest of the group, his movements jittery and erratic. It was clear he hadn't had much experience in the field, nor in diplomacy--or common sense, it seemed. Note to self: ask Boomingham to dress the guy down for his hastiness, and ask Barty to teach him patience. Or the Ranger--guy's spoken up less than me, but he seems competent enough. He's kept a close eye on the situation, that's for sure. Ought to talk to him at some point as well. And then there was Boomingham. The man had been unusually quiet on the way here--but then, he himself hadn't been in a particularly talkative mood, either. He kept thinking of all the familiar faces he'd seen in the past few days--Nyx, Thothwick, Galen, De'kra, even Guts--and about what had happened at the Theatre. What would he do if something ever happened to them? No--what will he do? He himself knew that even with the Veterans' power, death could strike swiftly and without warning--and he trusted the Veterans even less than usual lately, anyway. But he couldn't go on every Quest, couldn't fight every foe for all of them--could he? "How can I protect them all?" Arthur was so intent on his thoughts, he didn't even notice Barty hovering next to Boomingham--squarely within angelic earshot of this barely-spoken thought.
  8. Brickdoctor vs. Readers - Confuse (all readers Confused) Because apparently Doc is a Sorcerer. I agree that Doc's non-roleplaying is roleplaying in its own way, and I really like it. Every large game-world needs a character who knows slightly too much about how the world ACTUALLY works. In a lot of ways, Docken reminds me of a Lawful Good (/Neutral?) Richard from "Looking for Group". A lot of good roleplaying in the Hall recently...just not so much from me. I do plan to re-read some of my posts over the past few (WAY too busy) days and do some self-critique, maybe re-write them just for my own edification. Q70 is definitely perfect for Arthur at this point, I just wish I'd had a couple more days to wait for it--I could have done all the same stuff, but not been quite so awkward about it.
  9. "I still don't understand...who is this 'Stealer of Senses'? Is he some ally of the Wolfgang? If that's the case, I could understand the need for concern, but as it stands I have no grounds to arrest these men. What would I charge them with, associating with animals? I'm afraid I'd have to arrest Master Em and every Ranger in the Hall if that were a crime. The Watch frowns upon travel through this area, but it's not a crime. Unless you can present me with evidence or testimony that these men are associated with the criminal element, I'm afraid we'll just have to let them go and be on our way to the Wolfgang armory. The law can't punish anyone without proof of wrongdoing--which is a good thing."
  10. Yeah, good job with that one, Heroes. (Q4, Q62)
  11. Interestingly, Arthur also has shades of that, though for him he supports more of a socialistic society than a true communist society (note that I'm using the pure economic definitions of the words, rather than referring to any particular countries--there is no such thing as a "pure" real-world example of ANY economic system, after all). He supports equality, but also believes that there must be a benevolent guiding power to prevent the people from descending into total anarchy and criminality--there must be "checks and balances" on the power of the people, just like there must be checks and balances on the ones in power. Also: great post TBW, possibly the best I've seen from you. Well done.
  12. "Heroica. Joining the Watch is a...penance of sorts. For past sins. And it gives me a chance to stamp out the Wolfgang. That's a change that will only come through violence...and in the end, that's all a Hero is truly valuable for--violence and destruction. With the Watch, at least, my duty will make sure I'm destroying that which needs to be destroyed, keeping me on track even when I falter." "Stealer? Wha--? What's going on? Do you two know who these men are?" Arthur quickly drinks a Nostrum. Ah, see you already did it. Also, I think I only need one profile pic, thanks.
  13. Arthur studies the panel for a moment. "Right. Standard design, should have this done in a jiffy." Arthur presses the four initially-red fuses in clockwise order, then pulls the lever. OOC: O's are blue, X's are red: Original: OXO XOX OXO Step 1 (top-middle): XOX XXX OXO Step 2 (middle-right): XOO XOO OXX Step 3 (bottom-middle): XOO XXO XOO Step 4 (middle-left): OOO OOO OOO
  14. Arthur checks the sign with the blue arrow (outside) with his Magnifying Glass, then downs a Nostrum and a Smelling Salts. "Here, let me get that. Better safe than sorry." Arthur assists in the others' investigations by using his Magnifying Glass, and additionally checks the violet orb in the jar with it. OOC: I'm pretty sure I know the exact solution to that puzzle, but I don't have time to type it out now and I don't want to miss out on too much when I have to get off, anyway.
  15. Another 20-minute break in the schedule, huzzah! (Might be closer to 10 this time, though. ) I doubt my character would survive another Zepher Quest. I'm saving up for the ultimate final finale Quest of his.
  16. I have about twenty minutes free, so I'll just check in now. Busy busy busy! Endgame, I bought a few consumables from the Marketplace last night, check my statistics page. I also appreciate your working with me on mine and Galen's deal, thanks. "I have, a while back, in the Hall. A tiny little guy. Puny, actually. Actually, that was his name. Punii. How is the little guy?" He thinks it best not to mention his two mental encounters with The Regret--even with his limited knowledge of the situation, he could tell that that monstrosity was something best left unmentioned unless necessary. "Anything we could help you guys with while we're down here? Food, supplies, side-Quests that sort of thing? We ARE raiding a Wolfgang armory, after all, might as well put some of those criminals' supplies to a good cause if we can. Any angry critters getting in you guys' way we could take out? Any need for technical engineering and/or arcane Etherial expertise?" Arthur quietly shoots a sidelong glance at Karie as he talked. So. This is 'Karie'...if I didn't know better, I'd have guessed it WAS Violetta...strange that none of the other Guards noticed it. Maybe he was the only one who had suspicions in the matter. Maybe he was reading too much into it. All he knew was that he had to know, he had to find the truth. It was all that was keeping him going.
  17. "Thanks, Nagure. I really hope we can work together again soon." Arthur makes a quick trip through the Marketplace, but not far from the Barracks, he spots an unfamiliar figure who seems to have an excess of equipment--several stylish pairs of gloves chief among them. "Excuse me, sir, but I have to say I've taken a liking to those gloves you're carrying. Would you take 900 Gold for one of each?" OOC: I may not be online tomorrow morning, I'm taking family to the airport, so I'm setting my and Galen's trade for 1 Overkill Gloves and 1 Stingy Gloves up so he can accept it without any additional input from me; sorry it's so anticlimactic.
  18. Arthur buys four Nostrum, five Smelling Salts, and five Meads for 340 Gold, leaving him with 1,028 gold. (35 * 4 = 140, 25 * 5 = 125, 15 * 5 = 75; 140 + 125 + 75 = 340; 1368 - 340 = 1028)
  19. OK, I think that's enough. A little bit of this kind of thing can be fun, but it's getting annoying now. Take it to PM, please.
  20. I think it's just DLL's obsession. Well, I know characters have requested to play talking bats before, and I think someone wanted to be a straight-up talking dog, and they've been refused. I should have said anthropohorphIZED, not anthropomorphIC.
  21. I'm going to guess this is another part of why Sandy made the rule that Heroes can't be anthropomorphic animals. He didn't want a bunch of octopus Heroes 4x Counterstriking all the enemies to death.
  22. Initially, yes, but in that last loot division, yes. Poor guy got no good drops, so I figured I'd try and make things easier on him. Incidentally, between this and my purchase from Galen (someone go poke Fugazi!), I may end up becoming known as the "Glove Mage"...
  23. Oh, come on, I just gave the guy an extra 50 Gold AND forgiven a 200 gold debt! If I could afford to offer more, I would have!
  24. For future Rogues' players' easy convenience: 5 Smelling Salts and 5 Nostrums cost 300 Gold even. ...What? No, I'm totally not obsessing over exactly how much I can afford, why would I do that?
  25. "You mean, it wasn't just coincidence? She really was related to...?" "..." "I'm sorry. I don't know all the details, but...well. If anyone ever killed Caroline...well, I admit, the world would be a better place without her...but it'd still hurt. Losing people sucks. Especially if you don't have the chance to say goodbye..." "...I'll...leave you to your thoughts." Arthur heads somberly towards the Marketplace, but immediately sees Nagure's sign. Well...they WERE useful... "Nagure, how about 250 Gold for those Sticky Gloves? It's what you'd get from Fabian anyway, only you'd be helping me out instead of him."
