  1. OOC: Actually, since I have a couple minutes... oh, also Vaermina should have more poison/burning from Vindsval's hit. Arthur uses a Grand Tonic on Karie from the Back Row. "Karie, could you put Miirym before me? I don't want her next to Vindsval in the Battle Order while he's targeting Vaermina. Also, you might want to switch to your Encore Plectrum with your first turn, it'll save you a LOT of Ether, which will help us keep you going longer." Miirym attacks Glaz from the Front Row. "<Falconer, you should meditate. Your scroll will do little for Karie at this point. Also, Thormanil, that Diluted Arc Tonic might be of aid to Karie and The Falconer both.>"
  2. Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed at how few female characters we've gotten in the latest batch. I think the last female character to join Heroica was Calamity, and that was ages ago. And also, looking at it, there's a serious lack of Clerics at all levels. Of the active characters in the game, we have a grand total of five healers I can think of: Boris, Matthias, Nerwen, Vindsval, and Althior (by technicality). That's...not enough healers for the several dozen Heroes we have in circulation, and the ones that are there are almost all well into the high levels to boot. Did I miss something? Why is playing a Cleric suddenly unappealing? ...okay, that was a really great bit of characterization there. To those of you who are feeling unconfident in your character: this! Little moments like this, things you just decide to toss out on instinct, can really help to flesh out and develop your character. You don't need to have a grand plan or a backstory behind your characters, and I'd argue that for a PC it's actually a detriment. Just have one or two simple ideas (a good example would be Ezeran with his symbiont) and let everything else come naturally over time. If you put in the time, those moments will come, so long as you're open to them. Oh, and one final note: if you're worried about your character being too similar to you, don't be; again, as long as you put in the time to play your character and stay active, the events they experience will shape them, and you will find out who they are along the way.
  3. The good news: computer is un-bricked! The bad news: I'm still busy for the rest of the weekend. Asphalt retains control of Arthur and Miirym until Monday.
  4. Welp. PC just bricked, on top of helping family members move. I may be out of commission for a significant amount of time. Asphalt has Arthur and Miirym until I can post freely again. Just keep in mind that they're on permadeath, okay?
  5. "<It is the point. We back up our actions with our lives, it is the price for exerting our will upon the world. But at the same time, it is a price I hope we do not have to pay.>" As Thormanil's Essence does its work, Arthur slowly rises to his feet, attempting to regain his balance. "You are the only one who can safely strike her now. It would be best for you to continue to poison and burn her now that she has been buffed by Glaz' overpowered spell. In fact, next Round I'll use my Crumbling Venom on your weapon, just to get her defense down a bit more. For now, though..." Arthur uses a Remedy on Arx and Miirym from the Back Row. "Anemos, you'll need to use your own remedy on yourself, lest you get Knocked Out." "<Alternatively, Karie could sing a Serene Etude this Round.>" "Maybe. Losing the Rapid March might not be the worst thing in the world, but I'd almost rather replace it with a Lucky Chant if we're going to switch songs. Jinxing Glaz wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, either." "<If someone needs better fortune, I am more than willing to lend them the force of my will.>" "...actually, that's not a bad idea. Just...be careful, all right? I don't want you to hurt yourself too badly." Miirym waves Arthur off airily. "<It's fine, it's fine.>" Miirym attempts to make Arthur Lucky from the Back Row. If she fails, she repeats, otherwise she tries to make The Falconer Lucky from the Back Row. If Karie chooses to sing a Serene Etude instead of a Rapid March, Arthur attacks Glaz from the Back Row, unless Glaz has Glaz Cannon queued, in which case he attacks White Angel H from the Back Row. If Karie chooses to sing a Serene Etude instead of a Rapid March, Miirym makes The Falconer Lucky from the Back Row.
  6. Docken? Docken, is that you?
  7. Question: since weapons that are "doubled against [type]" double their WP rather than dealing double damage, does that mean that the doubled WP comes into play for spells, too?
  8. "<Father...! Someone get him up. If we try to run with him unconscious...let us just say it will end poorly. The two of us are not protected by your Nornish charm, as the Falconer here can attest.>" Miirym follows orders. If raised, Arthur follows his previous conditional.
  9. Which is why I typed it all up in Endgame's format, so he can copy and paste instead of having to type it up himself.
  10. You know, as confusing as the Healing Staff seems to be to most people, I kind of want to see Pretzel get one back, considering how unfairly his old one was taken away from him. ...okay, I know this is referencing something, but for the life of me I can't tell what. Reading Rainbow?

  12. Imps are changelings, confirmed.
  13. "Right..." Arthur gives Glaz a wary glance. "Karie, can you put Miirym right after me and my second action after Miirym attacks? I want to make sure I'm in a position to revive her if she does down." "<Unlikely. But I appreciate the concern nonetheless.>" As long as Glaz' retaliation would not be Glaz Cannon, Arthur attacks Glaz with his Dauntlet Index from the Front Row. If Glaz' attack would be Glaz Cannon, Arthur attacks White Angel B instead. If Miirym goes down, Arthur uses the Phoenix Essence in his Duplovian Swift Halberd on Miirym, and attacks his target with the Swift Halberd following the previous conditional actions. Miirym attacks Glaz twice from the Front Row, no matter what.
  14. OOC: Ahh, I guess Zeph's been running it wrong all this time. Not sure what you meant by adding Arthur's and Miirym's damage together...? I just know that on a SHIELD, Arthur hits first and then Miirym follows up, the calculations are run separately and sequentially. "We don't just want to defeat Immortalis' might and army--we want to defeat his argument. Metaphorically de-fang him on the negotiation table, and he'll have no self-righteousness to stand on, making him less willing to fight in the first place. Essentially, we can win the battle before it even comes to blows." "<An Elder Dragon taught it to me in the afterlife--he said I would need it. It has proven most useful.>"
  15. Even as Karie's and Glaz' magic both fade, Arthur and Miirym press onward against the enemies, Arthur battering the angel heavily but not quite enough to knock him out. He sees Lind slip past him, and the Dragoon fears the angel may now be dead, but against all odds Corvis survives the strike. Under the cover of Miirym's shadowy breath, Arthur clubs Corvis with the butt of his spear, knocking him unconscious, before pressing both of them to the ground to avoid Miirym's explosive breath as she ignites it with her claws, the Dragon seeming immensely pleased with her execution of the trick she had learned from Vorpalis. Arthur quickly rolls to his feet before sprinting back to the Heroes' lines. "Suggestions, Karie? I've got a Grand Tonic I could use on you, or we can keep going against Glaz or even Vaermina. Your call."
  16. OOC: Okay, something weird is going on with Arthur's damage calcs. Corvis is down either way (non-fatally if Arthur or Miirym struck the final blow) because you forgot one of the x2s Arthur should have done on Corvis and because Miirym attacked from Front Row this Round, but here's how the damage calcs should have gone: 20+42+3(Tin Gloves give me +2 Power)=65*2(Humanoid)*2(Holy)*2(Encouraged)*2(Dauntlet v. Humanoid)=1040. Last Round, Miirym's SHIELD on Corvis should have done 20*3=60+42+3=105*2*2*2*2/2=840 damage, leaving Corvis at only 1848 at the end of last Round; this Round, her SHIELD should have dealt 20*3=60+42+3=105*2*2*2*2*2=3360 damage, most definitely knocking Corvis out. OOC 2: Actually, Lind's damage is off as well, he should have done 132 damage last Round (leaving Corvis at 1782 total last Round) and 696 damage this Round. Lemme run the numbers...nope, Corvis still had 46 health after Lind's attack, Miirym and Arthur still got the non-fatal KO.
  17. "<Vindsval, with the Smelling Salts and Karie's Rapid March together you will have time to act three times this Round. Using the bomb you had planned to throw prior to your attack would be most advantageous.>"
  18. Feeling the protection of the barrier, Arthur and Miirym both move to the Front Row, and Arthur directs his second attack at Corvis instead of Vaermina.
  19. Miirym suddenly notices Vindsval's lack of injury and nudges her partner. "<Arthur,>" she prompts, nodding towards the Paladin. "...right. She's all yours, Vindsval--unless you'd like the help? I could do some serious damage to Corvis if we're willing to take a risk. Let me know and I'll direct my attacks where needed."
  20. "Very well, then. But let the record show that we tried to end this in peace." Arthur stows his halberd, extracting a new weapon in its place. He twirls both of his spears before leveling them at his target. "Vaermina's mine. En Garde!" Arthur attacks Vaermina with his Spider Leg Spear and then his Dauntlet Index, both from the Back Row. Miirym uses her breath on Corvis twice from the Back Row.
  21. "<Let us just say we have...something of advantage. Something that might make him think twice about continuing to oppose us. Something...irreplaceable to him. If Immortalis insists on destroying Eubric, he will have to destroy it as well.>" Arthur shoots Miirym a quick, concerned glance, but chooses to address the Heroes and the angels alike, speaking Diplomatically once more. "Immortalis is causing more harm than good with his actions--and especially more harm than good to himself. As Miirym says, if he continues down this path he is going to cause himself immeasurable pain. If his angels really care about him, about what's best for him, they'll stand down and let us bring sense to their master."
  22. "Trust them? I've barely met them. But I'm not going to squander a chance to end this with minimal bloodshed. It's a waste of valuable resources we'll need if Immortalis refuses to see reason again."
  23. So that means my Darkness-elemental attacks do double damage to the Hypocrite type, yes?
  24. As long as the battle results and stats aren't reported like , I guess it stands within the realm of possibility....oops.
  25. "<And yet,>" Miirym points out, "<you have no problem with your leader killing everyone in Eubric over things that might happen. When you choose to impose a fate upon the world, it must come at a risk. It is the way of fairness.>" Arthur sighs. "Look," he says, speaking diplomatically, "the only one in this situation devoted to death is Immortalis. He's the one who refuses to stop this storm, who insists Eubric choose between subjugation or death. All we want is for him to stop, to stand down. If I give the Phoenix Essence in my Duplovian Swift Halberd to you to use on Telethia, will you and your army let us go in peace? Or does your distaste towards death apply only to those you personally know?"
