I actually sold that for a Phoenix Essence a long while back. I think I got, what, one redirect out of it, ever? Back in the day when you got two Artifacts, period, and SP on Artifacts was nearly unheard of, Cloak of Deception plus Lens of Speed-Reading made a decent combo. The Cloak effect didn't come into play that often, but it was something to use against Free Hits whereas otherwise I'd have nothing. Once Artifact stacking started to become a thing, though, SP and immunity ended up being more important to a squishy mage than a 1/6 chance to stop Free Hits, and then the Artifact that even lets me be a decent tank is backwear, meaning I can't really use the Cloak of Deception at all, especially since it only affects Free Hits (as opposed to something like Nimble that has both a higher trigger chance and works on Damage and Counter rolls as well). Besides, that's replicating the effect, not counteracting it.

"Uh...Karie? Are you...sure you're okay?" With a slightly wary glance at Siercon, Arthur begins sniffing the air for insanity gas.

"We need those wings down. Once they're out of the way, I can actually start attacking." OOC: Wing B, then Wing A. Masson should take the duplicate wings if any are left.

Arthur is too busy using a Tonic on Karie to notice their opponent's underhanded attack, but then Gabriel's body hits the ground. Arthur stares straight at Charon, the angel's glowing blue eyes reflected in his own visor. "You are not getting away with that." The ex-mage tears out an innocent-looking doll--a mere child's plaything--from his pack, casting it to the ground. He levitates slightly, glowing with a soft but sinister aura as strings of solid shadow extend from him to his puppet. With a flick of his finger, Negative Nelly launches itself at Charon, while Arthur himself remains safe in the Back Row.

Welp. Images are vanishing again. I assume Photobucket is trying to fix something. I wouldn't say it's too easy, just intuitive. Screw this redirect BS, though, it's extremely obnoxious to strategize around and there's not even a game mechanic designed to counteract it.

Pretzel starts to attack, but gets distracted by tinkering with his weapons, improving one while damaging another. Hybros flits between Camio and Andras, causing the former to nearly kill the latter, before slashing and smashing them in the face. Althior's connection to the world is sliced through by Foras, rendering him immune to his own positive effects, while Namyrra's spell, without an undead army's aid to back it up, continues to chip away at Purson. Byblos attempts to read both his scroll at the enemies and a storybook to the crying child, but mistakenly mixes up the pages, spouting unintelligible gibberish to both. The child remains understandably unhappy. Atramor and Pretzel both fall asleep under Focalor's influence, but are awakened by Marax's loud bashing against Pretzel's armor. The demon of apathy shoots his compatriot a dirty look. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! A round dozen opponents stand against all six Heroes. Dunno what it is about this battle, but something about it has just "clicked" in my brain. Unlike a lot of the "big" battles recently, I'm just sort of inherently "seeing" the ideal strategies, the way I used to, rather than having to take hours to calculate and strategize. Yay?
-
OOC: Was actually about to point that out, along with Karie's Ether; 24-16=8, not 5. EDIT: Oh, and next Round it should only cost 7, since with Lind down it would only cost 14 and 14/2=7. "You've got this, Gabriel. We take out his wings, then we only have the clones to worry about, and we'll have room to heal you up. As it stands right now, he can't hit you hard enough with them to take you out."
-
OOC: Blind protects you from Damage and Free Hits. Special Damage will still go through while the enemy is Blind, and the Passive Special cannot be blocked, period. "...actually, looking at things, Thormanil and Vindsval should be switched in the Battle Order, and Siercon should go after me but before Thormy. If Siercon gets off a Spellblade Spin, Thormanil can toss his Doomsday Bomb to wipe out the wing duplicates and permanently finish off the Stygian Blade, as well as doing substantial damage to the wings themselves. If not, he can still focus on Wing B and dual-strike the Stygian Blade. Actually...my Stun Bomb will take care of Free Hits entirely this Round, so if you want you can all pile on Wing B and conditionally switch to Wing A and then the Stygian Blade once it's down, just to ensure Wing B is no longer a problem." "...also if someone else could also help supply Karie with Ether, or else throw a bomb so she can do it herself, that would be great."
-
OOC: Ah, yes, on the subject of errors, I attacked with my Spider Leg Spear, so the Edge of Eschaton should have been Slowed, thus preventing the Free Hit from Hastened (since Slowed and Hastened cancel each other out). Also, from a quick look at the Fields and Quest 72, the Mail divisor comes into play at the same time as Row--in other words, before SP. This significantly affects strategy for this battle, otherwise I'd let it slide.
-
"Karie, I'll Elixir you, if you can throw a Fire Bomb we should be mostly good on the blades. If Jinnipher focuses on Charon, everyone else can take a wing or a duplicate. If we have to double up, do it on the original Wing B--in fact, Gabriel, you should increase your lethality and then take it, see if we can't reduce that redirection chance. Sorry, Thormy, our little trade will have to wait." Arthur uses an Elixir on Karie and throws a Stun Bomb, both from the Back Row.
-
"Karie, can you put Vindsval or Thormanil ahead of me? They can take the hit from the blade in the Back Row, but neither of them can take the Edge of Eschaton if it gets a Free Hit."

Unburdened by the infant, Atramor swiftly slices Vepar down to sushi, pocketing an Aquamarine in the process. Pretzel restores Byblos' Ether before bashing Haagenti firmly up the side of the head. With dancing blades, Hybros cuts down three demons, while seriously injuring the aggravating Andras. The party's spellcasters, however, fail spectacularly, Althior missing a second spell against a blind opponent at point-blank range, while Namyrra allows Purson enough opening to heal Foras. Byblos cares for the infant as best he can, deciding to improvise a little tune to sing it. "Ah, er...'Hush little demon, don't say a word, soon the children's cries will go unheard...' ...oh, dear." The infant cries unhappily, so loudly that the demons might have been able to locate the party even if their Blindness hadn't worn off. Marax bashes Byblos up the side of the head, almost as if beating the bookkeeper might silence the child as well. The Metasimian wavers, the repeated blows starting to get to him. "...All right, then, if you've got Masson, I've got the blade. Thanks, Vindsval." If given a second action, Arthur strikes at the Edge of Eschaton with his Spider Leg Spear from the Back Row. "Karie, if we could get a Rapid March, that'd be great. I can take a Free Hit from Charon or the Edge of Eschaton, but you'll have to pick one or the other. Everyone else, don't forget to target both wings, right now we're doubling up on his right (A) and that's not the best strategy. In fact, his left wing (B) is the more dangerous of the two." OOC: By hitting it twice (dual-strike), this should be taking away 2 durability on a successful strike, yes?
-
Arthur swaps the Lethauros Mail out for the Mail of the Renegade Commander from the Back Row. With a grim glance at the Edge of Eschaton, he holds out Zoot's Rebel in his left hand, morphing the weapon to match Charon's in appearance. With his free hand, he . "Next Round, Edge is mine. Thormy, next Round I'm lending you my Spider Leg."If given a second action, Arthur uses an Elixir on Masson from the Back Row.
-
So, just for clarity, are we gonna have a , or a ?
-
OOC: I am not, in fact, supposed to have two Mail of the Renegade Commander, nor should I have two Shadeaux Cape. I should also have the Dauntlet Index and Blue Hand Shield "equipped", but other than that I think everything is set. Sorry to hear about your canine friend. "Yes, yes, I'm sure that if we keep walking down this path, we're gonna have a bad time. Look, I'm cold, I'm hungry, I've been up all night, at this point I just wanna go home with my daughter and hug my mother and brother, so if I have to beat some sense into Immortalis to make him stop this stupid storm, I'm going to do it, and if I have to get through you first, then so be it. I think I can speak for everyone when I say I'm sick and tired of your oh-so-ominous attitude, so let's just get this over with, 'k? K."
-
Arthur equips the Lethauros Mail in place of the Mail of the Renegade Commander. OOC: Arthur's equipped Artifacts should be: Helmet of the Duplovian Guard, Shadeaux Cloak, Macabre Collar, Lethauros Mail, Fur Leggings. He should not be immune to Slowed or Hastened, but should be immune to Doomed and Instant Kill, and instead of taking half damage from Free Hits he should take half damage from Demon and Dark-type enemies. His Defense should be 48 (15+2+(13*2)+4+1). Also, in case you missed me noting it before, he and Miirym should be Level 43, since you forgot to give us experience from the Syndicate HQ battle. Arthur should be Lucky and Encouraged, as well.

Guest QM Note: That sounds within the spirit of both items, I'll allow it. I'll start rolling the round now. -
Heroica RPG - Quest#148: Once Upon a Time in Goetia
Flipz replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Guest QM Note: Correct me if I'm misreading, but I believe Atramor's action is impossible, since he has to either take care of the infant or trade it to another party member. I'll hold off on rolling the Round so actions can be revised accordingly. -
"I wouldn't mind borrowing that Lethauros Mail, actually, if someone else wants to borrow my Mail of the Renegade Commander."

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Flipz replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Well now the class has to pass. Their future existence retroactively justifies this game's illogical time system that the characters themselves acknowledge as having been screwed with. -
"Yep. Really ought to wear this more, but Duplovian antimagic is just too good to pass up." Arthur lends Thormanil his Unicorn Helmet.
-
"...what is it with this organization and fighting floors? Does one of the Veterans have a floor fetish or something?" Arthur equips his Macabre Collar in place of his Clothes Hangar, the Mail of the Renegade Commander in place of his Tin Armor, and his Fur Leggings in place of his Tin Gloves. He also uses a Nostrum on himself. "Wonder away. But for your sake, Miirym and Arx had better be unharmed." Arthur glances back at Thormanil. "Hey, Thormy, care to borrow this Tin stuff? Even just a couple pieces would let you handle a few more hits." On impulse, Arthur carefully pulls out the Eschaton Flowers and waves them lightly, as he had when he'd first received them.
