  1. Advice: get familiar with it. Basically, this crossed with this.
  2. Guts should have 135 gold total as well as Chrysalis' drops (since he was the one who killed her). He also fled to the foyer using Flee (1st round), then went down to the wine cellar (2nd Round). I assume the third round will be for him to enter the storage room (which every one of us seems to have forgotten exists because it wasn't on the map ).
  3. First of all, how is that first theme not a battle theme?! Second of all, the theme for Diana's confession isn't meant to be a battle theme (the "battle theme" for Diana's ultimatum was and don't you dare tell me that's not a good "final confrontation" theme ).Third of all, listen to them side-by-side (and notice who the first theme belongs to): It's the same theme, the second is a reprise with a completely different feel. I've put a lot of thought into the music for this Quest, perhaps more than was ultimately necessary, but I do feel that I've managed to pick themes that accurately convey the tone and emotion of each point in the Quest. I probably won't be so choosy in where I get my music from for future Quests, but considering how much this Quest and its characters draw from Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies I felt that it would ultimately be better to keep it tonally consistent by only drawing from that game's soundtrack (and believe me, I was this close to using "Thrill Theme - Suspense" from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney for the ultimatum, but ultimately decided "Announce the Truth 2013" was better). Plus, doing it this way allowed me to also use dual reprises to bookend the Quest--" " played as the Bostonius lifted off from Eubric and the party's hopes of a heroic 'save the day' ending rose, while " " was the introduction to the final battle where those hopes would go down in flames....so yeah, I guess protip to players on my Quests: my music almost always has clues in it, if you're familiar with the music's source.
  4. Take a listen to the theme for the first battle of 104 again.
  5. Ahh, drat, I forgot the music! Give me a second, 104-ers... added. All right, 104-ers! You have enough information to piece everything together now. What will you decide?
  6. QM Note: She made an educated guess based on you talking to the dragons instead of just fighting. "Actaeon, I..." She blinks back tears. "It's still hard for me to trust you, after Tarban. But I'm glad you're with me. You, too, Kiray." "Dead?!? I'm trying to stop him, but Velquoriel and I won't let you kill him!" <Nor will I.> "You're not in a position to 'let me' do anything, Dragoon." Diana brandishes her crossbow at Sirone to punctuate her point. QM Note: Her age is listed in her stats, you know. Despite the tense situation, Diana rolls her eyes at Siercon and Actaeon. "I'm sevent--" She suddenly pauses. "No. Eighteen, actually," she says softly. "Eighteen today..." "I must agree with Mr. Siercon. I cannot condone the murder of these two. Normally we would leave them to you or their native authorities, but if you do not trust them then we will bring them before Emperor Phyllius." "Was he not injured fighting against these four? His judgment might be compromised!" "Perhaps, but I trust him. Besides, Domus falls under his domain." "What is this obsession you all have with me?! I'm not surrendering to you, half of you apparently want me dead!" "Not half. I will not kill you. I had taken you as evil manipulators, but I can see now that you are true Friends of your Dragons. Come with us, and we will find a better solution." "No! Just leave me alone, all of you!" "Darius...we can't 'leave you alone'. You're too emotional, too dangerous." "Surprisingly, the purple idiot has it right. You are too dangerous...too dangerous to be allowed to live." Mallelio tries again to reach Diana. "Miss Justice, please, listen to me--" "No! Gods, none of you get it, not like Kiray and Actaeon. The ends justify the means... Any solution where they live, they keep these dragons. Whether used by the Shadeaux for their own profit or just let loose on the world, it is just too much power--they can't control it." Velquoriel bows her head. <The psychotic female speaks a kernel of truth, though her perspective is warped. We will not abandon those to whom we swore our partnership, true. The blast that lit the city ablaze is a testament to Sirone and my inexperience...but it is also a testament to our opponents' skill in dodging it. And we can only learn control of out power through practice.> "The hatchling cannot learn to fly if she is tied to the ground." "So we let Noctus Shadeaux train you so you can go and terrorize his business rivals, is that it?" "Is that what you think of us...?" "You have him all wrong. You have all of us all wrong." "No, I have him all right. You haven't had to live under his and the other Houses' oppression. You haven't seen the people he casually ignores while the struggle and die in squalor. You haven't had to live hunted like rats day in and day out, like my father and every other Wolfgang member in the city!" "So what, murder is the solution?!?" Diana's eyes narrow, full of the black fire of hate. "When faced with evil, you do what you have to do." Diana extracts a small, empty vial from a pocket in her belt. "Four years ago--to the day, as it turns out, a female Pongcanis named Walbartan and a human named Nicolaus Steerpike gave me some gifts for my fourteenth birthday, on behalf of my father. This vial," she says, indicating the miniscule glass container, "was from Nic. Nic, as you may or may not know, was one of the best poisoners on the Free Islands--not anymore, though, he's dead now...murdered by Heroica. Anyway, they were there to help me escape my mother. So yes, in plenty of cases, murder is the solution. My dad gets that, Act and Kiray get it, and I do too. I think you folks understand it, too, only you're too scared to admit it. So I'll ask again, clearer this time: who are you going to murder--them, or me? Because I guarantee that my death is the only thing that's going to stop me from killing them."What will the remaining party members decide? Standing with Diana Actaeon (Sanctified Rito Bow vs. Darius) Kiray (Sanctified Rito Longsword vs. Darius) Standing against Diana Siercon (uses Dragon Scale) Denerii (Handmade Bow vs. Diana) Mallelio (heals injured party members) Enemies actively opposing Diana Sirone Velquoriel Kreika QM Note: I'm doing some last-minute tweaks to my PvP rules, but basically all Hero characters' max and current HP gets multiplied by 10.
  7. More along the lines of the whole "Rogue versus their own party" thing.
  8. QM Note: Sorry guys, I really wanted to push out an update tonight (even though it'd just be dialogue), but D&D Expeditions ran way longer than I expected, and I'm bushed. Update in the morning!

Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone has acted. Note that the battle will end as soon as a human is killed. THE BATTLE...CONTINUES? Diana gapes at Siercon and Actaeon in disbelief. "You're still trying to save them?! After everything we've...!" Diana spits. "You just don't get it, do you?" Her eyes flicker to Actaeon, an instant of heartbreak betrayed within before it is snuffed out, replaced by anger. "They're fighting because they're selfish. Because Noctus Shadeaux is selfish. And apparently Heroica is, too. I thought you were better." Tears begin to stream down the Assassin's face, but suddenly she sees someone enter the clearing behind the party--Germ. Her eyes narrow. "Well, you know what? It's time for me to be selfish, for everyone's sake. One way or another, someone is going to die today: them...or me." The young Assassin takes a step back, leaving the party. Mallelio and Denerii reel in shock. "Miss Justus! I implore you--" "Shut up." "But this isn't--" "I said shut up!" <Mortals. So quick to kill and die at the whims of impulse. Do you see now, Kreika? I would expect such violence from them, not from you.> For the first time, Kreika seems to notice--really notice--what was transpiring below. <...perhaps. But I swore my oath to Darius. Perhaps I can--> Atop Kreika's back, Darius yanks on the dragon's neck, trying to steer him. "Kreika, let's go! While they're distracted, now's our chance!" "You. Are coming. Home. Darius." "We're not and there's nothing any of you can do to stop us!" A crossbow bolt pierces clean through the visor of Darius' helmet, barely missing the man's face. "Damn. Think again, a**holes." Diana glares at the party, tear-stained yet defiant. "What'll it be, "heroes"? Them...or me?" How will the party respond? QM Note: Last big choice of the Quest! Choose wisely.
  11. That's one of the things that makes Arthur hard to play--he's had SO many plot lines and SO many moments of development in the past that it's hard to find anything solid to build on anymore. (That and he's gotten rather boring, especially over the last several months.) In some ways I find myself thinking that 99 may have been his swan song in terms of engagement and relevance to the game and the world--everything else just seems superfluous after that lovely "quiet world" moment he had in the Marketplace right before he met Lind. (No offense to Lind or his character! It just seems like if I was making a show or a novel or a webcomic about Heroica, that's probably where I'd drop Arthur as a main character--perhaps bringing him back for cameos or background appearances or to "pass the torch" to someone else, but not really following his plot anymore. )
  12. OOC: 9 hits divided evenly amongst 3 enemies means Hoke did 300 to Daniel and 600 to each of the others (he was using Wood), killing all three. Guts should not have gotten Overkill or the Shield. Guts flees to the Foyer, then runs downstairs to the basement. OOC: Yes, blatant metagaming, but I'm pretty sure I'll need it.
  13. QM Note: As soon as I get actions for the NPCs and a Battle Order, we can get this party started.
  14. My vision of how selling cards would work would be something like this: [image] "Hi, folks, my name is Professor Tree, and this is my assistant, Sootface Snagem! Welcome to the wonderful world of Decamon! We'll only be here for this week only, but don't worry--we'll be back next month with different Decamon delights!" CARDS FOR SALE Booster Pack (Series 1): Two random Decamon cards drawn from the Series 1 pool (Costs ?? gold) Bulk Booster Pack (Series 1): Ten random Decamon cards drawn from the Series 1 pool. One card is guaranteed to be rare. (Costs ??*5 gold) SPECIAL! Themed Fire-elemental booster pack: Three Firey-type Decamon cards, drawn from all existing Series. (Costs ??*2 gold) Starter Deck: October Try this spectrally spooky deck of Decamon cards, just in time for All Hallow's Eve! Contains the following six (6) Decamon cards: Will-O'-The-Wisp (Firey 1), Specter (Icy 2), Toxic Toad (Plant 1), Creeping Hands (Darkness 2), Vampire Bat (Flying 3), Scarab (Rock 1) *Images of cards* Cost: ??*2.5 gold -------------------------------------- Definitions: Rare: Any card of Power 6 or above, or any Ethereal card period, is considered "Rare" for purposes of the Bulk Booster Pack. (Obviously the Level 9 cards would only be available from challenging and defeating champions.) Series: Every year (along with the Anniversary), the series of cards available from the Marketplace would change; these new cards would be mechanically identical to the previous set but would feature different monsters, adding a collectible aspect to the game. (Again, the Level 9 cards would not be replaced.) Starter Deck: A deck of six (6) Decamon cards with the following number distribution: 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3. These cards can be of any elemental type other than Ethereal, and are usually themed. How does Professor Tree work? *Professor Tree is a Treant wearing glasses with cobwebs for "hair". He visits the Marketplace once a month, for one week at a time. *Professor Tree has a 1/2 chance of offering an elemental booster pack each time he visits. Any time Professor Tree isn't selling a themed booster pack, he'll instead sell a Level 5 card of a random type (drawn from all series) for twice the cost of a regular booster pack. *Each month, Professor Tree offers a different themed starter deck. For simplicity's sake, these would be set once and remain the same forever, even as the card series change from year to year. ------------------------- ...or instead of Sootface Snagem being Professor Tree's assistant, he could be the one taking the cards in exchange for prizes, in which case he'd show up slightly less often.
  15. Guts drinks a Potion and then attacks Daniel Collins, Front Row. If damaged again, he drinks a Grand Potion and attacks again, otherwise he just attacks; if Collins is dead, he attacks Fish-faced McCoy, Front Row. Battle Order: Hoke Alex Guts Lind Thormanil Guts
  16. I DEFINITELY want to see more Decamon in the future, but perhaps not limited to Quests the way it has been in Q100. I'd like to see Decamon "starter" decks and maybe even "booster packs" available in the Marketplace, with players being able to play each other (and perhaps a few NPCs?) freely. (Perhaps the cards could be sold only by a travelling merchant like Elphaba, except it's who turns up more often? Permanent availability (and totally set card availability) seems like it would get stale fast, but twice a year is definitely not often enough for something like this.) Maybe each month of the year would offer a different "starter" deck (with the same set numbers but different distribution of elements), while the booster options would be a choice between completely randomized or an occasional elementally-themed booster (the element of which is randomly decided when it becomes available). Agreed, especially since that's how it'd be for PvP as well anyway.
  17. QM Note: These NPCs follow the Zepher/CallMePie school of death: if they are Knocked Out at the end of the battle, they are dead, period. Normally I'd allow a Phoenix Essence to be used on a KO'd character in-battle to revive them, but in this case the battle ends immediately if either Dragoon is killed. The dragons may be KO'd without ending the battle. As for your plan...try it and see.
  18. You would probably get transferred to Sandy because I don't have that character's stats. (And you'd miss out on the current boss battle.) Copy-pasting is ultimately how I'll have to do it, the tricky part is making sure everything is in chronological order.
  19. I've got at least three chains of PMs, but they're interspersed chronologically, which is going to make posting them a pain. There's some really nice stuff in there, though (including some great character moments and the introduction of a couple characters people have been waiting on for a while!), so it's all worth it.
  20. At the very least, we need this because there's only one Expert Class that casts spells, and that's not enough variety. Yes! Especially to the latter. I get that Infiltrator and Regulator were built as Very Special Rewards for certain Very Special Quests. But a lot of the others (Skirmisher, Winged Warrior, Artisan, Marauder, Scholar) seem like classes that could stand to be offered more often.
  21. Oh gods...didn't think about that when I started my own PM madness. Speaking of behind-the-scenes stuff, some of you may notice that the combatants in this battle of 104 are starting off slightly damaged. That's because Phil went toe-to-toe with them for three Rounds while they were roughing up Domus (y'all got lucky in that he rolled a SHIELD his first round, meaning they all took additional tick damage from Burning for each round of the battle against the Dark Druids). Surprisingly, he was not KO'd, though he was left with something like 3 HP by the end. He's one tough fellow, that's for sure.
  22. QM Note: Yes, the special does mean "directly above and below". The Sanctified Rito Weapons will deal extra damage to Flying-type enemies (in this case, the Dragons).
  23. Like that doesn't already happen? I definitely like the idea of a Weather Mage class (perhaps it could be called Storm Spirit?), we definitely do need another true spellcaster amongst the ECs. Might I ask why randomized weather is a bad thing? (Or is it just the idea of taking away choice from the QM, in which case I totally agree with you.) I can think of at least one scenario where a randomized weather would be a great challenge, and it could make a great gimmick for a Quest if the weather was operating in strange ways (admittedly, it would almost have to be THE big story and battle gimmick of the Quest if it's a story-based Quest, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't be fun).
  24. QM Note: The Guardian Feathers are a simple Artifact; the description was worded that way becasue different people may roleplay different ways of making their wings, but it is purely roleplaying, as the wings are not improved over time outside of normal Artifact customization rules (i.e. binding gems and Scrolls to them to add immunities). QM Note: Yes, two songs this time. Because reasons. Be sure to read the notes below enemies as well as at the very end of the battle description! The party presses forward, Denerii in the lead, and prepares themselves for what could be their most trying challenge yet. The atmosphere is somber, all of them remembering the sacrifices already made and the dire consequences of failure. They had failed once, and the people of Domus had paid with their lives. If they failed again, the toll of death would soar on the wins of dragons into the tens of thousands. The weight of their responsibility weighs heavily on all of their hearts, not the least of which the teenaged Assassin at their side, whose tight-lipped grimace exemplifies the tension surrounding them all. Thunder booms again, and a humid rain trickles down through the canopy, producing a damp stickiness that serves only to make the journey that much more uncomfortable. The discomfiting drizzle sums up the party's mood. Just when the Heroes begin to believe that Denerii is leading them on a wild goose chase, they hear a pair of telltale roars... "...Dragons!" The party race forward into a nearby clearing, spotting their quarry in person--and in battle--for the first time, a blur of colors and elements swooping up, down, all around the clearing, barely staying still long enough to confirm that yes, these are the dragons they're looking for. It is only when Diana and the rest raise their weapons that the great creatures notice the Heroes' presence--and just barely at that. Two very different voices, one female and the other male, reverberate within the Heroes' minds, just as Vipera's had. <You know not in what you interfere, humans. Turn back now.> <That is the most sense you have made this day, Velquoriel. It seems your reason has not abandoned you entirely.> <And you have been told even less than they, Kreika. 'Tis a pity you refuse to hear it.> <I listen not to the allies of fools and traitors.> <Your ignorance betrays you. I will not leave my righteous partner to those of such destructive whims.> <Says he whose breath has lit towns ablaze.> <Only in attempt to save dozens more.> The Dragons resume their battle, rivulets of rain having soothed their flame-licked wounds. Above, the Heroes can hear the two Dragoons shouting at each other as well, but their words are impossible to discern over the clamor of the fight. If the Heroes truly wanted to stop the feud, they would have to...
