Alright, here are some photos for your enjoyment. Some of these are requests so let me know if you want to see anything else. Close up of Luke, Leia and Lando http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/6210/figs_001.jpg Close up of Lando

Here is the rest of my review. I'll be adding photos in the morning (it's really late.) The Build: Building of the Sail Barge was swift and progressed nicely up to a point. The interior and deck was very straightforward and progressed quickly. However, building out the five section rear of the Sail Barge was a bit repetitive. It is at this point that we begin our adventure in sticker application. The two sides of the Sail Barge are all plates and lots of stickers. Each side of the Sail Barge opens in two sections to reveal the inside play area. The sides are held on to the hull with technic pins. This section is a somewhat tedious build due to the number of stickers needed. The front of the Sail Barge was cleverly designed. It is like an upside down bow of a boat that is held in place with technic pins. This section is built rather swiftly. The masts and sail section is all done with technic parts and flows quickly. Interesting to note that the sails are not exactly like the sails from the older pirate ships. I happened to have the sails to the 6270 set and could feel a noticeable difference in thickness with the Sail Barge sails being thinner. Just thought I would pass that along. The Skiff is definitely bigger than the 7104 version and is a nice (and necessary) addition to the primary set. It has a flip out plank to put Luke on to recreate that classic scene. The Sarlac pit is a bonus and definitely allows the purists to send Boba to his demise. The manual was a bit on the dark side, but didn

NOTE: I edited the original "preview" and added in some low-res photos to the review. If you want to see these pics in hi-res, simply go to my brickshelf folder: Hi-res 6210 photos Jabbas Sail Barge reviewed by Dunamis Set 6210 781 Pieces $74.95 at the LEGO store Build time 3.0 hours The Box: Box is standard with two seals and the lid that flips up when you pull out the perforated tabs on the back. Three alternates on the back of the box; Jabbas palace, a sailboat and a sea creature. Parts are in the two types of standard LEGO packaging; perforated bags and standard sealed bags. There were some boat type pieces, black tubing and Jabbas body free in the box along with the instruction manual. Note that the bags were not numbered (like the 6211) and it seems the minifig pieces are spread out among several bags. The Manual: The manual is 74 pages of instructions plus single images of the alternates and a two-page part listing. Very handy feature that I am glad LEGO went back to. Note that my first impression is that the colors in the manual appear to be rather dark (see photo) and I will let you know how much of a problem this is as I build the set. Also, the two sails were inside the manual as well as the dreaded sticker sheet. The manual Part listing Alternates Too dark? Sails Stickers The Minifigs: Eight if you include Jabba. Note that they are all flesh tone. The usual suspects Jabba I believe he is the same as the earlier sets (I dont have time to break one out and check.) R2D2 He looks the same (except of course he has the serving tray) but he only has decals on one side (front and not back). Again, its late and I dont have another R2 unit handy to check. Leia we have a flesh toned slave Leia. Han we have a flesh toned Solo with white shirt and brown pants Luke Flesh toned Luke with both hands flesh (no black glove) Boba Looks like a regular Boba with dark grey hands Lando Nice looking Lando with a really nice helmet Gamorrean nothing special here (as far as I can tell) The Pieces: Items of note - The two minifig axe heads have the new KK metal look. Very nice. - There is a frog piece? - There is a new unidentified (at least to me) technic angle piece (see photo) - There are some drumstick (food) pieces Cool pieces The Build: Building of the Sail Barge was swift and progressed nicely up to a point. The interior and deck was very straightforward and progressed quickly. However, building out the five section rear of the Sail Barge was a bit repetitive. It is at this point that we begin our adventure in sticker application. The two sides of the Sail Barge are all plates and lots of stickers. The Sarlac pit is a bonus and definitely allows the purists to send Boba to his demise. The manual was a bit on the dark side, but didnt impact the building of the set. In fact, the instructions were fine until we get to page 50 where sub-section on building the deck gun was pretty dark (there were a lot of black pieces.) It was not too difficult to figure out what pieces were needed and the rest of the manual was clear enough. The Stickers: Pardon my lateness in getting this review to you, I was busy applying stickers! Lots of stickers and even worse; the dreaded sticker over multiple piece issue. There were five of these to deal with. In total, there were 28 stickers in the set. I feel that is WAY too many and many of these stickers could have been printed pieces as they are applied to 2x2 tiles. Personally, Id rather pay the extra $5-10 in a large set like this to get printed tiles. For me, the high number of stickers detracts from the overall enjoyment of the build. Overall Thoughts: This is a nice model with some great minifigs. Here are some random observations: - The deck gun is very nicely designed and looks like it came right out of the movie. - The set looks very good and has some good playable features. - The sails tend to get in the way when playing with the minifigs on the deck. - The Boba-launcher is kind of lame really. - The set is kind of hard to pick up at first. You really have to pick it up from underneath. Plus, there arent a lot of studs in the middle of the deck so any minifigs standing mid-deck tend to go flying off. - Any thoughts of significant playing inside the Sail Barge should be shelved. There really just isnt much room inside (especially with Jabba.) Final Rating: 80% Playability 8/10 (too small inside, sails hamper movement outside) Minifigs 9/10 (Flesh tone lovers delight, nice Lando and nice weapons) Design 6/10 (28 fricking stickers!) Parts 8/10 (Good stuff here) Price 9/10 (Good price/parts ratio plus we get the nice skiff and Sarlac pit) This is a good set and good buy, especially if you could ever get one on sale. The stickers really hurt the overall rating of the set, but you get some nice minifigs and the updated skiff and Sarlac pit.

Well, at least you didn't have to do it! I had to rip the box up and I still can't even open the little bags until I get home...

Absolutely! I'll be home late tonight and may try to attemp this tonight. Otherwise, it will be tomorrow.

Sorry, should be working now.

OK, here ya go! Pardon my crappy 1 megapixel camera that I borrowed from a PDA, but here are a few photos (I only did the back of some boxes because someone already posted pics of the front elsewhere): This is the back of one of the Avatar Sets http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...e/3828_back.jpg This is the back of the Avatar Ship http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...e/3829_back.jpg This is the motion set (with cool motor) 4895 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/Seattle/4895.jpg This is the back of the motion set 4895 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...e/4895_back.jpg This is the back of the mythical creatures set http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...le/mythical.jpg This is my ISD box after I had to tear it up because it wouldn't fit in my bag http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...tle/isd_box.jpg This is all the little bags in the ISD set that I have to just dump in my carry-on http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/Seattle/isd.jpg Fortunately, the Sailbarge fits in my carry-on http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...e/sailbarge.jpg This is a new "sound brick" that is on the creator motorcycle set http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/dunamis/...sound_brick.jpg Enjoy! Yes, they are. I went back to the store on a break and they had a bunch of KK sets. I have some pics but someone on FBTB put some up on brickshelf. Here is the link Bricklink (from FBTB) Enjoy!

I've managed to "hijack" a phone with a camera. I'm going to try to run back to the LEGO store on a break and take pics of the new sets. I'll look for KK sets.

That is exactly what the store employee said. He said with the NTX, new trains and some other line (I guess either Viking and/or City) coming out in August, LEGO wanted to get these other sets on the shelf. I saw all those at the store in Seattle. Unfortunately, I'm travelling on business and only bought the Star Destroyer and Sailbarge. I wanted the Mythical Creatures, Motion Power and Roadster too, but I'm going to have a hard enough time just getting the two sets I bought into my carry on bag for the airplane. I can't wait to go through security... :'-( Bummer that they didn't have any new Technic. I would have bought the new tow truck instead of the two star wars sets.

Yep, that is one of the batman sets I saw. I wish I had my camera with me, but I just wanted to post so people would know to call their local LEGO store. This guy was in Orlando and I'm in Seattle so obviously, they are nationwide. I saw his post of FBTB too and it sounds like he's going to post pics of all the new sets. I just bought the sailbarge and star destroyer and will only have pics of those when I get back. There have already been a couple of reviews of the star destroyer so I will build the sailbarge first. Anyway, check your local LEGO store (if you have one nearby) and see if they got the sets in.

Sure. I get home Wednesday night and I'll post pics. I don't have my camera with me.

I'm up in Seattle at a Microsoft conference and right across the street from my hotel (Bellview, Washington) is a mall with a LEGO store. I went in and to my surprise I found: Sail Barge 6210 $75 Star Destroyer 6211 $100 Fire Nation (Avatar ship of some kind) $50 Temple (another avatar set) $30 Mythical Creatures (looks really cool with a light up brick) $30 Motion power 4895 (has a new motor that I have not seen before) $50 Roadster 4896 (black car, pretty cool looking not Technic) $60 Three new spongebob sets (didn't really look at them) A bunch of batman sets (including the batcave) Of course, I bought the sail barge and star destroyer. Now I have to figure out how to get these home on the plane (the boxes are pretty big...) Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll try to answer them.

Wow, cool set! Thanks for all the photos. So, obviously it is available in Europe if you just strolled into a TRU and picked it right up. I wonder when it will be available in the US?

Thanks for the photos. I like the new Mace much better.

Technic - "old" vs "new"
dunamis replied to Hobbes's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I finished building the set and all I can say is WOW, what a great Technic set! Gylman, you are right, this is probably the best Technic set I have ever built. It has so many functions and is very impressive to see in action. Have you build the alternate model? I hate to take this apart, but I'm intrigued to see if the alternate model is as clever as the primary. Any suggestions on it? Thanks for the recommendation! X-D Another true believer. The alternate is interesting. The looks are bleh. The functionality is interesting because it uses a pneumatic to flip a switch for another pneumatic, which I believe is unique for any "instruction" set, although the pros do it all the time. Overall, it is not nearly as impresive as the main model. I built it once and did not have up for long. Glad you enjoyed. So now I can't wait for the new 8285 truck that comes out in October. It looks like it will be a really nice build. -
I actually have this set as well (yet another Ebay find.) Mine came with large (probably 11" x 14") placemats (for lack of a better term) that have the bar codes on them. I think there are two of these "placemats" that have printing on both sides. I can check when I get home if you need me to be sure. I suppose the placemats could be photocopied if you don't have the originals. I have not built this set yet, but that might be my next project and I can try photocopying the placemats to see if it works. If so, I could mail the copies to you if you need. On a side note, I just picked up the Nitro Menace at TRU on their BOGO 50% off sale. So, to answer your original question, yes I would trade the Nitro Menace for the 8479.
