I was at the Glendal, Ca LEGO store today and they had a big clearance table set up with the following: Mobile Crane (8421) was $149 now $99 Forklift (8416) was $69 now $49 They had some bionicle and some Belville stuff on sale too (but I just glanced at it so I couldn't tell you what it was.) They also had some Bionicle DVDs on sale too. FYI, they did have the UCS AT-ST, Technic Crawler Crane and Technic Dune Buggy there as well.

Just wondering if anyone had the new Mindstorms yet. It's been available on S@H for a few days now. I've managed to convince my wife to get it for my birthday at the end of this month, so it will be a few weeks before I can get my hands on it...

Finally picked this up the other night at TRU (they also had the dune buggy/tractor). I haven't had a chance to dive into it, but it looks like a great selection of parts. I'll try to do a full report in a week or so (after my vacation).

LOL, how did you know I was hoping for more Gungans? The Gungan patrol is on the list for 2007 redesigned sets you know...

I'm right there with you. Like I said, if they want to pony up the minifigs, then bring it on! Maybe we'll all get our redesigned TIE Bomber which includes ancillary minifigs such as Tusken Raider, Watto, Corde, Dex, Jabba and Lando... :-D

I'm not disputing your information, Sam89, but it just seems like an odd collection of minifigs for the X-Wing. But hey, if they want to give us six minifigs to go with a single pilot (+ droid) ship, that's fine with me...

That's so cool! A friend of mine did the same thing. Said he was out on a walk and stopped by a garage sale. He calls me up from his cell and said a guy was selling a bunch of LEGO for $20 and asked it I wanted it. He said there were a bunch of spaceship looking things and little figures. I told him to buy it. He brings it into work the next day and it was all EP 1 Star Wars stuff. Great find!

I've been wanting to pick this set up and I was actually at the LEGO store today. They didn't have any! This surprised me as they had plenty a few weeks ago. I was kind of put off by the price, but I'm glad you give it such high marks. I'll be picking one up as soon as I can find one.

I'm headed over to the LEGO store on Friday to see if they have this, the dune buggy or the AT-ST. Calling is useless because they never know what I am talking about. I'm flying back into town and it's only about 15 min from the airport so wish me luck :-P

ARRGG! That is very disappointing. Those two are the last things we need. I would have much preferred a new Y-Wing (System) and a UCS Jedi Starfighter, B-Wing, Falcon, etc... I kind of wonder about this though because Jeremy on Rebelscum indicated he knew what the next UCS set was and he was very excited about it. Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine getting real excited about a UCS Tie-X1 especially since we already have a UCS Tie. Makes no sense...

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I'm going to try to pick this one up in the next day or so. How many pieces are in the box? -
I did a photo review of this set about a month ago. Here is the link: Mythical Creatures Review

Well, I tried calling my local LEGO store here in Glendale California and they didn't have a clue. They said I had to buy it online. Probably a couple more weeks before we get it here in the states.

I WANT to like this set, but I can't seem to get there yet... Did anyone notice the sets on the back of the instructions? I know about the big tow truck, but is that a new firetruck (shown in the middle)? And, is that (in the upper right corner) the lime green 4x4 that we saw a few years ago or am I missing something (probably very likely)???

Interesting question. I probably average $300/month (USD). When I first looked at this number, it really looks like a lot. But when I compare it to what my friends spend on their hobbies, it doesn't seem that bad. For example, I have a friend who plays golf every weekend. He easily spends that much. I have another friend who is into movies. He spends about that much a month buying movies. Another friend is into video games. He probably buys 4-8 new games a month - same thing. Plus, my kids enjoy building things with me so that helps me justify the expense :-)

My fearless prediction (based on pure speculation): - Almost certian that we will get a redesigned Y-Wing with Rebel control station (like the new B-wing) $35-40 - Jabba's Palace $50-60 - New AT-ST system set $15-20 - We MAY get a Tantiv IV playset similiar to the new Star Destroyer $75-100 - We will get some kind of Mindstorm NXT set to help promote the NXT system the releases June 30. This will likely be something very familiar like R2D2. I highly doubt we will get any prequel trilogy sets because they do not tie into the LEGO Star Wars II game. Anyway, my .02. The sets this year have been excellent so I can't wait to see what they spring on us.

There are plenty for sale here: Bricklink for 7283

Sorry, I have not had a chance to build any other models yet. I have a busy week so I probably won't until this weekend.

OK, here come the answers to your questions: - It is marginally sturdy. The wings do tend to shift on you if you aren't careful. It does tend to tip forward too. It is not meant for heavy play by any means. - Cloth like the sailbarge. Not as heavy as old style Pirate sails though... - I have no idea. I bought it at the LEGO store in California. However, the other two creator sets were in TRU so I would suspect this one will too. - In my estimation, I would say no more than 10%.

Mythical Creatures reviewed by Dunamis Set 4894 588 Pieces $29.95 at the LEGO store Build time 75 minutes (primary model) The Box: Box is standard that is sealed. There is a TRY ME cutout for the light-up brick in the lower corner of the box. You have to physically rip open the box to get at the pieces inside There are multiple alternate models shown on the back of the box. Parts are in the standard LEGO packaging; perforated bags and standard sealed bags. There were two long black plates and a clear tube free in the box along with the two instruction manuals. In addition, you have to rip out the cardboard that holds the light-up brick. The Front: The Back The Goods: The Manual: TWO manuals accompany this set! Both are 88 pages in length. In addition to the building instruction for eight different models, you get ideas for nine more models! The only thing that would make this even better is if they put the instructions for these alternates on the web. Finally, you also get two-pages of part listings. I had no dark color issues with the manual and there were no sticker sheets with this set. One nice thing about the set is each numbered step has a parts callout showing you all the parts (and quantities) needed for each step. This is a very handy feature that I wish LEGO would do in every instruction manual. Two Manuals: Some Alternates: Some Ideas: Callouts: The Pieces: Hello green parts pack! Lots of multiple light and dark green parts are here including some wedge plates (wings) and plenty of articulator arms. Plus, you get some horns, teeth and of course, the light up brick. Items of note: We have some 2x6 grey wings. I think these are the same as in the new Star Destroyer. The light up brick has a replaceable battery! There are some 1x1 45 degree slopes in yellow. There are two 2x16 black plates. Light Up Brick The Build: Building the primary model (a dragon) was brisk and very straightforward. There were no snags where you can make a mistake and wont know it until fifteen steps later and you have to start over. The fact that each step calls out every part needed and doesnt call out more than a handful of parts make it pretty painless. It is interesting to note that in some cases two parts were used when one would suffice. For example, sometimes you would use two 1x1 plates right next to each other. You would think they would just call for a 1x2 plate instead. This occurred multiple times throughout the build. I was curious to see if this impacted the stability and strength of the model but it did not appear to. My only conclusion as to why they did this is that there were seven other models using the same parts. The primary model was very nice and very detailed. I think LEGO did an amazing job in that almost everything on the model moves. Even the toes are fully moveable. The wings and legs all move to multiple positions and the tail is nice and long to help balance the dragon when it is standing. Very well done! The Head The Foot (notice each toe is independant) The Dragon Overall Thoughts: I very much enjoyed this set and the others in the line 4507 (Prehistoric Creatures) and 4892 (Prehistoric Power). All three sets have some great models and they all have at least eight building instructions. In my opinion, these are some of the better LEGO sets in that they have multiple building instructions and are fairly easy builds. I suppose it goes without saying that this also makes a very nice dragon for any of the Classic Castle, Viking or newer Knights Kingdom sets. It is about the right scale to scare the blocks off of any minifig you might have around. The piece per $$ ratio on this set is very attractive and becomes even better when they go on sale. Some of you may remember this past Christmas when TRU put the 4507 on sale for $14.95. 719 pieces (with all that dark red) for $14.95 was amazing! Expect similar goodness here as well. I can take this dragon, I have my +1 spear! Son of a... Final Rating: 85% Playability 8/10 (Youre not going play with it, but it compliments Viking and Castle sets nicely.) Design 9/10 (Very nice alternates plus nine more ideas) Parts 8/10 (Did I mention there was green here?) Price 9/10 (Outstanding price/parts ratio.) This is a great set and great parts pack. Keep an eye out for these things to go on sale (or TRU BOGO) and load up. The primary model displays well and there are multiple alternates to keep you busy. Enjoy!

Wow, that is a really nice set. I don't have any of the batman stuff, but I may have to add this to the "get it on sale" list as well...

Roaring Roadsters + Mythical Creatures @S@H in USA
dunamis replied to Mithrandir's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was planning on picking up the mythical creatures and roaring roadster sets this weekend. I enjoyed doing the review on the sailbarge and thought I would review those two sets as well (assuming no one else has first.)
