2027 - Technic 50 year anniversary
yqc replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh, you meant the crane. You've written "excavator" by accident, so I supposed you meant the 42100-1. But for the crane I kinda agree with your judgement, although it's even more functions geared directly to motors. Once it's at an acceptable price on the used market, I'd love to get one. -

Mainly unreasonably high price tag. Which imo is just not a good set, but rather a lot of air inside a chassis of panels with every function nearly directly controlled by a motor. -
Technic Elementary Bible

Ok, already thought so from the layout. This is not exactly what GitHub was thought for but it still works. Ok, essentially GitHub is a platform for hosting all kinds of files, primarily used for programming projects. The special part is, that others can propose changes to the document directly and you can approve them. You can also add collaborators which can edit without needing your approval every time. The full history of the document is also saved. If you just use the website it's not that hard to learn, there are food tutorials. Great, thanks for sharing!- 22 replies

Also, do you have instructions hosted for your models somewhere by any chance?- 22 replies

I would add a sentence or so about the fact, that all Pythagorean triples work, not just the known 3:4:5, instead, there are infinitely many unique ones.- 22 replies

Hi, I love that project! I'll take a look at it later. As you have written about typos, etc., have you thought about open-sourcing it? Like putting the source in whatever format you've written this in on GitHub, so others can help with spelling, etc. or even add new sections?- 22 replies

[moc] green crane truck
yqc replied to suffocation's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is so cool to see! I love gearboxes in sets although I know that I'd fight so hard building them into my own MOCs. Great work and I also love the colour scheme. -

I took the time and translated texts in the images thanks to DeepL: Probably the help to here is wrong. As I got confused myself, boot as trunk in AE. So nothing really unexpected, the classical marketing sentences. But I read through these images and couldn't live with not knowing what is the text. Kinda felt like in primary school, when we did a dictation, as I did it on my phone, constantly switching browser tabs. -

One could also think of integrating it into the battery box instead. So a more complex PU battery by similar to the ones in Mindstorms NXT/EV3, which has different programs and ideally fetches a new program from the cloud when a new Lego set with that is released. Then you could select a program and the Hub knows what to do with inputs from the remote. -

You're mixing up two things in your post: What PU can do with it's current components What PU could theoretically do And here lies my point: the current phone-dependent implementation of PU is not ideal. But to fix that, we don't need a new system, which would make PU outdated again. We can use PU for that purposes as well. PU is completely reliant on Bluetooth, so any remote control with an arbitrary amount of buttons, switches, etc. could easily be added into the system. Even remote controlled motors with their own batteries would be possible using the current system and of course, you might add a NFC sensor brick, which could replace the Smart Brick functionality. I'm not saying, that this is what Lego will do, that's just what is my opinion on another new system. Your evidence seems very logical, that Lego will make a new electronics system. But honestly, I can't see Smart Play being used in any Technic set, as it's base brick just doesn't have any connection possibilities with other parts in that system. They're more like their independent system like sirens in Duplo for example. And I very much doubt this'll be changed. Rather a completely new electronics system for motorized sets. -

Oh, please. Not another system incompatible with all the others. Just stick with PU now, it has data and power transmission. But just why? Why do we need a new system? Power Functions was not ideal, as it didn't feature data transmission. But PU imo just had everything it needs to be a full electronics system. -
[WIP] Cargo plane
yqc replied to m00se's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It doesn't look terribly off, but making it smaller would probably increase it's realism. However, I fully agree that it's ok like it is currently and if the structure and/or mechanics are doable like this more easily, I would keep it like it is. -
[MOC] 42175 Garbage Truck (Alternate)

I literally just checked Rebrixkable and have 100% (without strict colours) without owning the set and this seems like a relatively quick build, so might do it soon™. What functions of it are pneumatic?- 4 replies

Oh, didn't know you did the base for exactly that model. That is on my buold-list. Always be optimistic, maybe they will read this and do our ideas regardless. Or keep it for their 75 years anniversary. -

Thanks for sharing that! For reference, this is the set entry for the exact idea: https://rebrickable.com/sets/8891-1-c7/ From what it seems like, the role needs to be tensioned yourself using non-Lego objects and then the chairlift has a motor in it and can propell itself on its own. Oddly specific, but I get your thought and 100% agree. There's this YT video I found after a quick search which shows a very simple model of it: -

Thank you very much for that detailed answer. I have it yet designed a chairlift, but it's definitely on my to-design list. Then I'll probably notice exactly what you have now mentioned. The funicular railway as a Creators set seems like a very good idea though. Just one rope for each of the vehicles, connected to a single winch and some technique for the middle point and that's all that's Technic in that set. By the way, have you published instructions for any of your models? I'd like to take a look at them. -

More like a symbolic sign that it'll be added with a print and after that used more frequently without any prints and/or be available in PaB. -

Having a 4L beam without the print would truly be great from them and is useful quite some times. In one of my more recent builds I used so many 1x4x0.5 beams just doubled, it was crazy. -

I'm talking about one connected model. If Lego wants to make an 1:8 new car transporter and then include two 1:8 cars, that's fine for me, but just two rather unrelated cars is not what I meant. In the hopes, that someone at LEGO® is reading this topic, I can wish for much. Yes, that as well. I also won't buy it directly, but wait for it to get somewhat more acceptable prices in the used market.
