  1. All three of the Quest Pitches that are up now look great, I signed up for only one because think it would fit Guts best, but I look forward to following the other two as well!
  2. Guts casually walks towards the Questing Board, and after reading each of the three tasks available, decides to sign up for Quest 39, with the usual 'Holla'. The richest man in Eubric... With a man like that behind Heroica, they might actually start to get things done. This should be interesting.
  3. I'm very sorry for not participating in the last few days, I have some things going on IRL right now that need sorting out. I will try to get back up to speed and participate in the next day or two, same goes for the people I was (am?) in PM's with.
  4. Stop wondering why Burbank was killed, the reason is Metagaming, that's fine, but it does not warrant useless posts: Why would they kill him /cry. Right, now. here is me wondering why Jason Falcon was in the shot, did something happen to him?
  5. Hmm Yes, Quests aren't as open as the Darths and Droids campaign, if someone comes up with the plan, hey, the answer is in Salmanda, there will be few Questmasters that will allow you to do that, but still. If there is any sort of choice in the quest, it's best to be ready, and have it balanced, for all occasions, because players are unpredictable. I found it a massive help in my Quest as well that I had all sets build and photographed BEFORE the quest started, you never know how long or how short something is going to take.
  6. Well, I am not talking about Ninjago, I think Ninjago actually started the trend for the action themes, but themes like Fantasy Era, Agents, Power miners were very vehicle heavy, I think I see a trend where there are more buildings. Maybe I'm wrong? But I think it's there. I like to think so, at least
  7. He can slap poison on every enemy at once.
  8. I really hope that there will be more sets in this theme. I very much enjoy this theme, owning four of the sets at this point, and certainly planning to get more. I love that Lego is going in a direction where vehicles are less important, and that there seem to be more and more buildings, really like that change. Trying to be as objective as possible: I think this theme holds a lot of interest with both AFOLS and the general kid lego-fans, would be a shame if this had only one wave, in my opinion, there is still so much they can go for!
  9. It's funny because last game someone went for you first day, I seem to remember you saying that was a sign of towniness, because scums don't push hard to get rid of the top dog townies, or something along those lines. Also the: You go for me, I go for you! is noted.
  10. Phew that took some time to write! I hope some people can enjoy it, I would love some feedback as well. It's still my first Role Playing Game, so.... Thanks! Can't wait to see it.
  11. Guts steps in the hall, and looks around for a bit. What he saw pleased him, a few dummies, enough weapons to train with, and no one to walk before his feet. Without a real goal, Guts started beating away on the dummies. First just with Lifestealer, the weapon he had become used to, and later Guts alternated melee attacks with quick throws of his throwing knife. It was what Guts had been doing up to this point, and it was what he was comfortable with. Not necessarily a good thing. The old man took a second sword from one of the weapon racks that was around, it was not sharped, but it was good enough for training now. For a while, the only sound in the otherwise empty training room was the clashing of weapons on the wood of the training dummy. When suddenly, Guts screamed with rage. With a powerful, inward swing of both swords at the same time, Guts outright cut the training dummy in half. The old rogue was breathing heavily, and threw both swords in a corner. Why was he even doing this? Not the training, but playing the "Hero". He could have moved on a long time ago. Be sure to get away from THEM. Not having to worry, not having to watch his back every second of the waking day, and not having to fear for his life in the few moments he allowed himself the comfort of sleep. He would not have the paranoia, not even trusting the people he had fought and bled with together multiple times, like Knifk or Dak. He would not have to deal with petty things like clearing out a mine or settling rich people's wagers. He would not have to deal with people calling him a hero while all he did was be a common mercenary. And above all, he would not have to look at the chaos and mess that was Eubric, a city that was well on way of corrupting itself with it's greed, injustice and political intrigues. He could just move on, and never look back, do his own thing, finish his task. But would that not be exactly what they wanted? Another one that bites the dust, packs his things, and leave. No, perhaps it would be up to him to make a difference, perhaps it would be up to Guts to change the meaning of the word "Hero", restore the value to what it once meant all throughout the world. But first have it start in Eubric, too many of it's current "Heroes" would go on jobs to solve the problems of foreign lands, while the situation on home soil was worse. He would need to change the city, it's leaders, or at least their mindset. Too few of the people in power were too focussed on preserving their own riches and power, while it was obvious that there would be something to break this chaotic way of doing things. Things would change, and it would be up to people like Heroica to steer the changes in a direction that would not leave the city in ruins. Thoughts ran through Guts's head as he slowly sat down on the floor. Perhaps it was time to actually start trying, perhaps it was time to stop caring about his own petty fears, and focus on what should be done. From what Guts had seen there were two rough categories of heroes at this point, the ones that called themselves heroes, and believed themselves to be equal to the heroes of old, gladly doing the tasks given to them by the veterans. Haldor, the Shaman was an example. These heroes were steering Heroica down a dark path. These would never change, they would never have the oppertunity to actually do Good, for they do not feel the need for change, and refused to look past the obvious problems, and would put Heroica first, not the people. These could be salvaged, their eyes would need some serious opening, but it was possible The other group were the ones that were only in it for the loot and the gold, gladly bearing the mantle of Hero, just to enrich themselves at every turn possible. Johon the clumsy barbarian was the prime example, they would not care what job they would do, gladly doing whatever would be thrown at them, just so it would make them a bit better. These were perhaps even more detrimental to Heroica, and had turned it into a common mercenary's guild. These would need to be rooted out, for it would be unable to make sure which side they would pick when the time comes, the last thing you want is a companion that stabs you in the back if the other sides pays more. No, there would be nothing that would happen on it's own, Guts would need to bring change to the city, and Heroica. And nothing, nothing would stop him, and no one would stand in his way. With renewed vigor, Guts rolled from the floor to his weapons, picked them up, threw his throwing knife in the middle of an archery target, stabbed a dummy where a man's heart would be, he left the sword in the wood, grabbed a spear from a nearby barrel, and with a sweeping attack, Guts attacked a circle of dummies. When the smoke of splinters and wooddust cleared up, a man was standing in the doorway, leaning against the doorpost, looking at the severed dummies and the spear in Guts's hands and said: "Hmmm, You want to train as a Raider then?" Guts awnsered: "What would that entail?" "I see you have the mindset and strength of the Raiders, but I'm unsure about your reach, and your flexibility. You would have to work on those qualities" Guts grumbled, who was this guy to tell him this, and then realized this must be the Copper Fox. He had heard stories that this man had mastered both magic and the ability to fight in full armour, that he was exceeding in martial arts, and had the healing power of the Gods, and that he was a master with every weapon imaginable. Finally, Guts answered: "Very well, teach me the ways of the Raider." For several days, Guts trained with the Copper Fox. The man, whose age Guts could not pinpoint, showed him techniques with both weapons unfamiliar to Guts, like Axes, and Spears, as well as ways to easily engage multiple enemies with a sword or even a dagger. Despite Guts's own experience, there was still a lot Guts could learn, and after a few days, Guts mastered all techniques the Copper Fox could throw at him. In name and skill, Guts was now what the Copper Fox called a Raider, a warrior best at robbing and ravaging. After the training was done, and the Copper Fox seemed to have disappeared in the woodworks, Guts searched through his pack, and finally found what he was looking for: a small bottle, with a label that says: SCARR-A-WAY. Guts had taken it from Dr. Cula's office, it was sitting there, and Guts figured he would not miss it. Guts closed his eyes, and took it, Guts feeled his face, and noticed most of his scars were starting to go away, the small ones had all but disappeared, and the three large ones had started to fade, there was no sign of the burnmarks that once covered the former rogue's head. His nose was still crooked, but what can you do? Pleased with this development, Guts stepped out Heroica Hall, confusing the people that now saw him without scars, his second change in appearance in a matter of days. The raider went on to buy a dark blue coat for a few coins from a Rockling-run establishment, and then headed to an alleyway. Guts pondered for a few moments, and then started unbinding his armour, the metal that had protected him for so long, the outfit that Guts had scraped together from all kinds of places, that consisted of all kinds of metals and other materials, and had been through all Guts himself had been through. He dumped it in a trash can, and now wearing only a simple coat, a functional leather chestguard, and some cotton breeches, and wellmade, deerleather shoes. The armour had been a symbol for Guts's own struggle, a struggle that he now abandoned, his own problems were not important, it was time to focus on the good of the people, of Eubric, of Heroica. 12. Now that you put it in your avatar thing, yes, but the original pictures are 106x106.
  13. No offense or anything, but what was the thought of making the avatar pictures 106 pixels by 106 pixels, it messes up my signature, and i'm too lazy to fix it .
  14. I have been following this diet, that cuts out lunch entirely, it really helps with Mafia my figure. You should try it, I've noticed you gained a few pounds.
  15. They were also actively trying to kill people, when they were killed. Just saying.
  16. Both of you say kinda the same thing. Do you really have nothing to add, or what?
  17. Guts entered the hall, he was the first to have left the Guildhouse, and he went straight back to the hall. The first time without his mask. Guts grinned as he saw familiar faces look to him without sign of recognition. Hiding in plain sight was one way of doing things. In a voice more cheery than usual, Guts greeted Scheherazade, and then sat down at this usual table in the corner, glad to see his protection measures were still there (parts of a mirror that allowed him to see people coming towards the table from every angle, including the roof, and a ward that was blessed by a cleric to keep out any of those that meant harm.), and that the table was empty, less glad was the rogue when he saw the pile of empty wine bottles that were still there. Maybe the ward worked a bit too well. After unstrapping most of his gear, a quick rest and reading some of the letters that had arrived for him while he was away, Guts took a feather and some paper and wrote the following: "Heroes, I am looking to purchase an Amethyst, I am fully aware of the rarity and value of these, and I plan to compensate generously. Come see me at my table if interested. Written, HOLLA." Then he pinned it at the Questboard, there weren't any Quests on it at this time anyway. Guts took a sip of a new bottle of wine, and leaned back.
  18. I personally think the balance was a bit off, but yeah. Now I have 1000 gold. That's cool and all, but all it will help do is give me some weapon upgrades, because there is no one that is going to sell their powerful items. I don't see it happen. But what can you do? I think Guts is actually the worst equipped of the kinda higher level players at this point, he has no artifacts at all...
  19. Thanks for the Quest, Sandy! I enjoyed it a lot, there was an interesting story behind it, and I wonder if we will ever find the themes continued, I hope so! This Quest really helped flesh out Eubric as a city, and I think you did a great job in that as well. The battles were not too easy and not too hard I think. The pictures were, as always, very beautiful, I think you make great use of lighting and photoshop, both elements I wish I could use in my own Heroica pictures, but alas... I feel slightly bad that we were perhaps not as dirty as you thought, and went for killing the criminals and stuff, as it seemed you wanted us to interact with them, but then again, with showing it like that, you can probably expect that we might want to kill them. There seemed to be a lot of choice in the quest, which I think was really cool. I wonder though, could there have been a different ending to the quest? A minor critizism is the loot. Compared to Quest 33, which was happening at the same time and did not have enemies that were a lot more powerful, I think we got the short end of the stick, if I'm honest. There were only 2 interesting items in 34 (the handbag and the Crossbow), it feels a bit stale compared to all the items (and oppertunity for items) Quest 33 got. But overall I really enjoyed the Quest, and would sign up again.
  20. Fair enough, thank you for elaborating.
  21. Can I ask what makes you suspect him more than Robbins?
  22. Don't think I need to explain myself further. Until a proper defense is given, I think I need not do anything different than: Vote: Ensign Robbins (KingoftheZempk)
  23. "Yes, good morning to you too..." Guts sighed, and sat down on a stool, uncorking a bottle of wine from his pack. "The Count seemed to have severe issues with the Garlic Spray, it caused him to get severe allergical reactions, breathing problems and coughing in general. The diluted potion seemed to work as it would on a normal human though, he did not have trouble with it. The holy bombs you supplied worked especially well, the Count seems to have an issue with bright lights, and light in general." Taking a few large sips, Guts continues: "After a long, impressive fight, the Count went down. I proceeded to tie him up, which is why you see me without mask, did'nt scare you, I hope, Hah! Anyway, when he woke up, we questioned him. The coward seemed afraid of my Light-Infused throwing knife, so I did not have to resort to more drastric forms of questioning, kind of a shame, really. Under pressure, the Count told us that he suffers from a rare disease that runs through his family, he called it The Tragedy, in his Language, picked some of it up overseas. But not important, point being: he claims some members of his family suffer from it, and it causes one to be oversensitive to a number of things, most prominently sunlight, also: garlic. He explained his trick with the bats by saying he was a Dragoon, whatever that means, and was trained to speak with creatures like bats." A few sips later, Guts finishes his explanation: "As a final test, we took him to the fountain, to see if the guy had a reflection, which he indeed had, after which I cut him loose and we came back here. We took care not to let out it was the Guild that hired us, although he did have suspicions that we were from Heroica Hall. Something to keep in mind, no doubt."
  24. "Who we think it is"?? What does that even mean?!
  25. I'd say a free kill with no chance of taking out a scum means that it's statistically a bad idea too. Chemist math skills, yo.
