Very impressing indeed! I'm not interested in the other lines of which we've seen leaked pictures, but this looks awesome. It's quite some time ago I bought Police (and Fire) sets (because of the colour switch: black to blue), so I don't see any reason not to buy this lovely police station. It's something refreshing and it's just a really nice building. Not similar at all with the 2005 one, so they wouldn't look bad together on a layout. Finally, some very decent trees. And the vehicles also look very nice, even the helicopter is something brand new. And the civilian sets are of the same quality. The ambulance has a classic look, so does the camper. The garbage truck stands also out. I have a LEGO town, but I don't buy that many LEGO City sets. However, the sets of 2012 have lots of variation and scream to placed in my collection.

They'll certainly do, I think most of them. Some may not fit I think because of the way it is designed. Some time ago there was a photo of a Friends Doll with hair from the Collectable Minifigures singer. And in the Beauty Shop you can see a regular white minifigure head with a hairpiece on top of it.

The sets don't look bad at all. A great variety of colours, design and a nice amount of accessories. The buildings (especially the Cafe) would look perfect in a LEGO town of official LEGO sets. The minifigures aren't that bad, but I still don't like them. I think it was a bad idea to design new figures, I could see why girls would like these figures more (they're of course more girly than your regular minfigure). I don't know, the classic LEGO style, it's gone. At least the new hairpieces will fit on regular minifigures. I think it will be a nice theme for girls, and how bad the figures may look, it's a good thing they made them as high as normal LEGO figures.

Thanks for the photo. The bear looks amazing. I'm not a big fan of the shading though, it makes the bear look less like LEGO. But it still looks very nice. The 2012 City sets look very promising, even with only the names and one photo released.

I searched for a recent Facebook topic, but I'll guess I'll just have to bump this one. I entered a photo contest of a Belgium magazine, you had to upload a creative photo and ask people to 'Like' the picture (the prize is a Macbook). So I did an effort and dressed up using the magazine itself, but the 'Likes' aren't really coming in so far, so I thought of asking the Eurobricks members (I thought some of you may have a Facebook account). I hope I'm not doing anything wrong by asking this, I do feel a bit weird doing it, but after all it's only a mouse click. Click here for the page where you can 'Like' my photo. You'd really help me by doing this, thanks! If I'm breaking the rules of Eurobricks, let me know and I'll delete my request.

Contest: The Underwater Version
Matn replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great concept for a contest! I have a perfect set in mind. If I have it right, this contest focuses more on modification rather than building an entirely new creation? -
Never been a fan of digital LEGO, but it's indeed great for trying out a difficult built. And this is very impressive, I'm looking forward to photos of the real buildings. I especially like Snow Spire and Dual Dour!

The Forest Police Station and the Crooks Hide-out sound really interesting. Again a lot of police and fire stuff, bit it looks like the designers have thought of new, refreshing things to do with the subject.

I think it's manual selection. I think four or five years ago Fun toy stores (in Belgium) had a small selection of Pick-a-brick pieces. I remember the one in Poperinge had a big box of pieces thrown together and you could fill the bags with them (though I never bought a bag there). I did buy a few bags in the Fun in Roeselare: there they were sorted in different boxes. I then bought a reasonably amount of 2x2 bricks in trans-blue, together with window pieces. They had to be put in those little bags, I think it was around 4 or 6 euro for a bag.

A theme change always comes as a surprise. I like the new layout very much. Great idea for a Themes Month, each LEGO underwater theme has something to like. I'm also looking forward to the contests.

Eurobricks Spaghetti Western Competition
Matn replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Oh, man. With my vacation job in August I forgot about this contest. I'm still very tempted to enter though, let's see what I can do with my collection and five days. The entries are great so far! -
I'm certainly participating. I'm building the train station in the book. I had a hard time choosing between an upgraded style of the normal LEGO sets or the more elaborate style of the Modular Houses series. In the end I chose something in between.

The Diagon Alley set is really, really worth it. As a LEGO Harry Potter fan I think it's the best LEGO set ever. It's got everything, great parts, good minifigures and beautiful buildings. Although I have it for a quite a while now, I think I'll make a review of it this week. I'd love to see some more LEGO Harry Potter sets next year, but from what has been said I'm not sure about it. And certainly with the rumours of a Lord of the Rings theme, if it's true, it's bye-bye Harry.

Oh, there's going to be a vehicle larger than the batcycle and perhaps even in LEGO. Here's in the Dark Knight Rises. I think there's a possibility that a LEGO set will be made of this, after all: it's a vehicle, and it could look pretty nice.

I'm also very interested so I've send you an e-mail with some information and pictures of my LEGO Harry Potter creations. I'm wondering what this project is about.

I just finished building 7985: City of Atlantis and I just love it. I bought it together with the Gate of the Squid set, and comparing that set to 7985 makes the former look like nothing. 7985 is everything I wanted LEGO Atlantis to be, an ancient temple. Great set design and play features, even the little submarine looks great. The figures are amazing, love those little monsters. It's one of the few sets I bought just for the parts, but I have to admit I like the whole set. A shame they switched colours of the divers, trans green and lime was so much better.

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Matn replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Amazingly beautiful! (and it's not even finished). In the beginning of your layout I was impressed by the size of it, but it seems you'll also impress us with the amount of details you are putting in it. The landscaping is just perfect and diverse, realistic for what can be done with LEGO. The houses are beautiful, especially the last one. Your layout inspires me to continue my own Hogsmeade project (a sort of medieval village set in the world of Harry Potter), it gives me a boost to build. The way you started with divided baseplates and then building up the landscape, is much nicer than just using baseplates like I did, thanks for the idea. I also have the urge to build my houses in a similar style like yours, but it would just be too big to built a multiple of them in that scale. Good luck and thanks for the building ideas. -
I just received my awesome prize, thanks! Can't wait to build it, looks like a nice set with great minifigures.

Pirates of the Caribbean Contest - Creative Critic Winners
Matn replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Wow, nice! Commenting on each entry is something I do with every contest I participate in, so it's certainly fun to see I've won something doing it. Thanks! -
It was ages ago since I bought sets, then I stumbled on this deal: 7895 City of Atlantis: 42 EUR (instead of 70 EUR) 7977 Seabed Strider: 6 EUR (insted of 10 EUR) 8061 Gateway of the Squid: 24 (insted of 40 EUR) I only collect LEGO Harry Potter and the Collectable Minifigures, so I almost never buy big sets of other series, but these sets have awesome parts and minifigures. First build the sets, then scavenge them for parts. :) For those fellow Belgians: Dreamland (Roeselare in my case) is the place to be!

Awesome! Thanks for organizing this contest and thanks to everyone who voted for me, I appreciate it. There are very nice entries on the list, it was fun to participate.

These look really great! I'm not a comic book fan, I haven't even read comic books (with the exception of Watchmen). I do like Nolan's Batman films and I've always been a fan of the X-Men series, especially First-Class was amazingly good. And of course I've seen a couple of other comic book films (Incredible Hulk, Iron Man). With all the comic book craziness going on lately, I've decided I wanted to see more of the films and perhaps buy a couple of comic books (so many issues and series to choose from). It looks like LEGO is playing in on that , so although I'm not very familiar with all of them, I just like these figures. Especially the DC figures look great, and Wolverine also. The Hulk looks pretty massive too. The DC/Marvel licence is indeed strange, but I think it will be very profitable with the current comic book film adaptions being all over the place. I'm wondering how the sets will be like, hopefully a couple of buildings and nice vehicles. I can only dream of some X-Men: First Class sets.
