Batman Minifig Customisation Contest
Matn replied to LuxorV's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Placed an order at MMCB, I can't wait to receive it. In the meantime I'm designing the decals. -
Impressive, maydayartist! I can't wait to see what you will do with those pieces for your diorama. Looks like load of very useful and great parts. All those plants and lovely colours. Did you get those via a LUGBulk or via Bricklink?

With the Drow becoming an apparent threat, Mattheus began travelling to the Moruth swamplands in Nocturnus. He is in search of an old witch who may have some useful information about the Drow, perhaps even a great weapon against them.(But first he has to pass the Kelra Labyrinths and the mountains, so it's going to take a while. ) -
I really don't mind the fact that the head prints are the same of some figures, or in case of the new Super Heroes theme some figure look very alike. They are still awesome designs. For me, the figures don't have to resemble the actor. As long as you can recognize the character it is based off, I'm happy and I think children also think like that. With the release of all these great figures the last year I don't see any reasons to complain.

I'm no expert on ships either, far from it, but I love it! Excellent job. Ships like this don't always need brick built hulls, and yours is proof of that. I especially like the colour scheme, the splashes of gold are nice highlights. The rigging and the sails are awesome, man, I wouldn't even know how to begin with it! The details on the deck are very nice. The dark tan combined with dark brown really stands out. Looking from the stern, it's even more a beautiful ship. I like the splash of blue and the decal looks very nice, despite of the different shade of blue. Oh, and those whales make the scene perfect! I love them. It would be nice to see a crew on the ship. Again, great job.

Nice job on the posing of the figure and the perspective, it's always hard to pull that off. I like these kind of back stories, adding an emotional aspect in our builds and stories are surely an interesting thing to do.

For the map: my patch of land called Arcadonia hasn't a place on the map yet, so you can put it wherever suits you/us/our land best. I said my tower of Arcadonia is situated in the Enchanted Forest, near the coastline, so a place that suits that description would be nice, but it's not necessary. -
I think the name is a tribute to an AFOL. Using the travis bricks with those cornered panels would sure work, but only in the case if there is a plate underneath them. You're not able to stack them on each other, but it's a good idea I hadn't thought of. Guess we will just have to stay illegal.
-
Thanks for the comments! It's a travis brick connected to 1x1 bricks with hole. I don't think that's a "legal connection" in terms of LEGO, but it works. That new brick (the first one) would be less parts intensive, but I don't have many of those yet.

Thanks for all the kind words, I'm glad you all like it! Sure enough, it's done.

Good job on those biographies, I really like reading them. I'll have mine up soon. I've finally made a new creation for Avalonia, it's a wizard shop fitting in Albion, the capital of Avalonia. Expect more of these kind of buildings in the summer holiday! -
I finally made my wizard shop (number 7), as promised. Here is Merlin's Magical Shop:
-
When visiting Albion, Avalonia's capital city, be sure to stop by Merlin's Magical Shop! Merlin is specialised in magic wands and cauldrons for brewing, but you'll find every magical item you can think of in his wonderful wizard shop. So I've finally made my contribution to our capital of Avalonia. I haven't build in ages, but I'm quite pleased with how this worked out. It's more whimsical than my usual builds, inspired by Derfel Cadarn, and I felt like I had to make something special out of it. I'm going to build a couple of houses and build a small medieval diorama, just to take a pause of the Hogsmeade project. But first I got exams coming up. Brickshelf Flickr Hope you liked it.

Wow, that's way too awesome! It's impressive that you got all the specific parts for all of our sigfigs, great job. And thanks for including me despite my inactivity, it's an incentive to make my work on something new again! I'm now assembling the 7189 Mill Village Raid set to get some medieval inspiration. Expect me to have something up by the weekend! -
Thanks for the various pictures. I'm really tempted to make a first purchase on the LEGO online shop. I don't have any Marvel or DC sets though. I'd love to get the figure, but the Super Heroes sets are even more expensive at the official LEGO shop than elsewhere. I'll think about it. Also, I thought you can only get it if you buy Super Heroes sets?

Batman Minifig Customisation Contest

Sounds like a fun contest. I'm in a mood for customizing, so I'll give it a try. I already have an idea for a villain. Looking forward to other entries, I love to see and read about new superheroes and villains! -

I want to apologize for my absence the past few months. The year has been much busier than I thought it would be and I haven't been busy with LEGO for months. I wasn't interested in it anymore but now I'm getting into it again, so expect some contributions of me soon! (Not very soon though, first I got exams and I'll have to catch up with many new sets. But I should be able to combine that with LEGO building. ) I already got some nice ideas and I'll first finish my building in Albion City. I also want to say that you guys have build some awesome MOCs lately! Impressive! -
I went to see it yesterday and I loved it. I'm quite fond of superhero films, although many of them have flaws. Avengers is one of the best superhero films around (and that's not really news ). It was full of action, but it wasn't a mindless ride like Transformers, it was deep at moments (Stark and Banner) with good conversations and the humour was excellent. No, it wasn't something like Nolan's Batman series but that wouldn't fit with the colourful group of Avengers. All of the heroes got enough screen time, but I especially loved Iron Man and the Hulk. Ruffalo is a great Hulk! I thought Captain America and Thor wouldn't be that good, but the characters were much better than in their own films. Even the heroes without power were good presented. Loki was a perfect, almost maniacal, bad guy. Fury showed more emotion than usual and although I've seen her way to much as Robin, Cobie Smulders impressed me as Maria Hill. She was more on screen than I thought she would be. Story-wise it's a bit cliché, but I didn't really expect more. I expected to forget real life for two hours and I did. I was pulled into the film immediately because it was the perfect blend of what a blockbuster should be. And most of all, it is pulling me out of my (sort of) dark ages. LEGO Avengers, assemble.

Awesome stuff, Derfel Cadarn! You succeed to amaze me every time I check out you're new creations. As I said on Flickr, this new pare of buildings is very inspirational for me and they make me want to dive in my bricks again and build new stuff. I can look at your buildings for hours, being inspired. The overal structures are nice, but it's the details you manage to put into them like the overgrowing plants and flowers, the lamps, the specific structure of the walls or details on the roof. And I always like seemingly random things lying around, like buckets, cauldrons and a broom. You already mentioned that you based your buildings on the Lilliput Lane models and since then I've taken a look at them quite a few times. They are perfect to base LEGO creations upon them. You manage to pull it of perfectly every time. I look forward to those new buildings you just posted. The second one is something I want to build, so thanks again for the inspiration! I can't wait to see more in the near future!
-
I can confirm that they're extras. I build the set a couple of years ago and I also had 2 curtain stickers extra, although there are already 2 of them applied to some pieces in the castle. The others are also extras I think. They can be quite handy for MOCs some time.

Congratulations! An impressive amount of people have voted for your outstanding creation, I can only hope LEGO tries to turn it into a set. It's really a great film. I think there's an ever bigger chance of actually developing this set because of the support of the makers of the film. And if it happens LEGO doesn't turn it into a set, you still made an awesome moc! -
I'm so very sorry, but I just hadn't had the time to make something decent! I started with something, but I totally forgot about it. I had something very nice in mind for Dumbledore's Office, but life has been pretty busy lately. If someone is able to whip something up in time, go ahead. In any way, I'll try to complete it but I'm afraid I won't meet the deadline.

I noticed mine has changed this week. It used to be magical pirate ,I think. Now it's supermegaawesome. Don't know who did it or why, but I'd just like to say that when I saw it yesterday it made my day. It even sounds like something I might say.
-
Nice to see a Harry Potter community build. Sign me up for Gryffindor and I'd like to do Dumbledore's Office please. I have something special in mind rather than a square room.

Thanks for the comments, it's appreciated. I'll rework a couple of trees later and make the landscape more uneven. I'll first work on more buildings for Hogsmeade (10 buildings would indeed be ideal, but I'll be happy when I have the most well-known shops on display).
