  1. Nice job! I also will order the acoustic guitar from Brickforge because I had the exact same idea. And it fits very well indeed. You executed it well, but that doesn't mean I won't do it. I also like the cactus.
  2. I think it's pretty cool Harry Potter got killed off. It took some guts to do that. I don't think there should be a sequel very soon, as Hogwarts has been destroyed forever. But I wouldn't mind. And indeed, the blocking spell has been quite useful. I guess I was just upset my werewolf action never worked out. But it's been a great experience and all these spells and great night actions made things very exciting!
  3. What a great finale! A lot happened and I think everything has been worked out well. I thought that kidnapped teacher would have something to do with the horcruxes or Grindelwald. The end was written very well (just like everything actually) and the scenes photographed are, again, of excellent quality. Thanks for organizing this great game Sandy, I bet it took a great deal of your time. The Harry Potter/Hogwarts theme was worked out perfect, I enjoyed it very much. It's like one big fan fiction with images. I liked everything about it, but if I should comment on one thing I didn't like: my night actions. But I now know why I didn't have an exciting or very useful one: because I'm a rookie. Here's my character: Again, great job and thanks for entertaining us for a couple of months!
  4. This is great! Thanks for the review. It's indeed a bit weird reading and admiring detailed photo's of a set that isn't released yet. Really nice idea of already making the upcoming set, with the few pictures that are around. I think you did a great job, the cornered walls looks very good (perhaps better than the stickered cornered panels). I agree, this set looks better than the other three. It certainly tops the 2001 and 2007 version (which had awesome parts and minifigures, but really the build should have been better than the 2004 version). I think this set would fit nicely with the 2004 version if you change the dark bluish grey roof in sand green. If I have this beautiful set, I'll probably rebuild the 2004 and make a comparison review. You really got me excited (even more).
  5. I'm glad to see the new items already in store! I'll order Centaur bodies tomorrow, each of every colour available. I hope you'll also have some black ones in the future. I'll also order some instruments, great details on those! It will be my first Brickforge order.
  6. The Hog's Head, an inn and pub frequented by shady unusual types, is located a block or so off High Street, the main road. It has been a fixture for Hogsmeade for hundreds of years and is currently owned by Aberforth Dumbledore. Although the old establishment appears run down and unappealing, it has been the place for remarkable events. On the eve of the Battle of Hogwarts Aberforth provided refuge in the Hog's Head to Harry, Ron and Hermoine after they inadvertently set off the Hogsmeade Caterwauling Charm. Later that night Dumbledore's Army and the Order of the Phoenix used the secret passageway in the Hog's Head as an entrance into Hogwarts to participate in the final showdown against Voldemort and his Death Eaters and to evacuate students. After another quiet day, Aberforth Dumbledore rushes outside. He was putting the cat outside, and about to let his goats in, when he heard the Caterwauling Charm, which meant someone has apparated in Hogsmeade. The trio is now hiding in the Hog's Head, while Aberforth is about to get rid of the Death Eaters outside. More pictures at: Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=442429 MOCpages: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/220883 Flickr: The decal is my own design and can be found here on Eurobricks in the MCW board. Credit for the goats goes to SlyOwl. The Hog's Head it very different from the other coloured Hogsmeade houses, probably because it's the oldest one. Light Bluish Grey doesn't look so much like stones, so it fits, and I used the black as wood because I'm running out of brown. I hope you liked it, and sorry for the elaborate description.
  7. Here are my titles so far: Pirate lover [Probably because I was active (and actively helping) in the Pirates forum at the time.] Magenta magician [because I did some wizardry involving bricks and shades of pink.] ;probably thanks to Svelte.
  8. I was surprised to find the LEGO Harry Potter sets already on Collishop.be (a webshop of a big supermarket chain in Belgium, but with very good prices for LEGO). 4736: 12,99 EUR 4737: 24,95 EUR 4738: 49,95 EUR 4840: 69,95 EUR 4841: 79,95 EUR 4842: 129,95 EUR These prices are ridiculous in comparison with the US prices. I hope they're not confirmed but I'm afraid they are. I stopped buying LEGO Star Wars sets because of the insane price (especially when you compare them with US). I told myself to stop comparing them with other countries, but in this case I just had do to it: ----- how much we pay --- how much we should pay 4736: 12,99 EUR ~ $17 = $10,99 ~ 9 EUR 4737: 24,95 EUR ~ $32 = $19,99 ~ 16 EUR 4738: 49,95 EUR ~ $64 = $39,99 ~ 31 EUR 4840: 69,95 EUR ~ $90 = $59,99 ~ 47 EUR 4841: 79,95 EUR ~ $103 = $79,99 ~ 62 EUR 4842: 129,95 EUR ~ $167 = $ 129,95 ~ 101 EUR Look, I love Harry Potter and all and I'm probably going to buy all the sets, but this just isn't right. I would be okay with it if they just change the dollar sign into the euro sign, like they almost always do (here only with the two biggest sets). I'm not sure how I'll feel buying them with the though they added 3-20 euro/5-30 dollar to a set to sell it here. I shouldn't be complaining so hard and be happy with the sets, sorry. Let's hope the numbers are wrong.
  9. Two more Bricklink orders have arrived. One of them had lovely new pieces: dark tan tiles, new 1x1 bricks with one stud on a side and those new 2x2 tiles in light bley with one stud in the center (only in the Hogwarts game currently). Very, very useful for my project. I hope the last two come in the mail by Friday.
  10. It certainly won't be based on the films, as you can see with this tea shop. When I read the Harry Potter books, I see everything happening in my mind and all the scenery and buildings are driven by Rowling's descriptions. She mostly describes the interior, so you can say I have all the freedom with Hogsmeade! I always envisioned Hogsmeade as a medieval village, but with some modern touches like glass in the windows, lanterns, shops similar to old (British I guess) shops with windows that come forward, ... The layout will be the one as described in the books. Everything will be very colourful, but I'm sure people will recognize it as Hogsmeade although it won't look like Hogsmeade in the film (especially without the snow). That doesn't mean I don't like the film version of Hogsmeade, it's just more fun to make my own and original Hogsmeade. Hogwarts castle will have to wait for a bit, I'll restart it all over again when I'm done with Hogsmeade (Hogsmeade falls under "Hogwarts project" ). Thanks for your interest!
  11. This is awesome, Jonas! The story has been brought in picture very well, great photographs. The creation itself is amazing, very nice diorama. The saloon looks great, I especially like the walls and the station is also lovely. The colours are really well chosen. The train looks good too. The scenery is also very nice with all the minifigs hiding, and with the spots of greenery it looks like a real desert town. Great job!
  12. Beautiful creation, I Scream Clone! There's so much going one here, it's a very nice place for the forestmen to party. The treehouse is marvelous, I like the ways you've made it look like a tree with various techniques. The action is great. And all your castle creations have such a nice forest feeling, with lots of greenery and such, I just love it!
  13. Woah, thanks for the frontpage Svelte! And thanks again for all the nice comments, I appreciate it. And it's indeed Trelawney's torso. I used it because it had purple in it and the blue wasn't used elsewhere.
  14. I saw Inception this afternoon. Or rather, experienced it. What an awesome film, possibly the best one I've ever seen (until now that is, only recently really interested in films). I was so caught up in the film, perfectly executed story, great cast and camera work and the soundtrack was also very good.
  15. Thanks for the kind words everyone, I really appreciate it! I ordered the magenta bricks from Bricklink, together with a batch for my other Hogsmeade building. Then I almost ordered bright pink to use (instead of white), but then I realised it would cost way too much, there are useful headlight and technic bricks and white, and it would look too pink. The head is from a Speed Racer set, from the Trixie minifigure. It's not very complicated, just plates on their side with a headlight brick between them. I did use an official LEGO wooden door, in dark red, but it would be to wide to fit. It doesn't have an interior because of few things: the door stands in the way, it would use too much of my bricks and most importantly: I'm going to use this tea shop in a Hogsmeade layout, so there's no real point of having an interior for events. No worries, they actually fit pretty well and won't come of (if you don't touch the cups ) You're right. I've experimented today with the other taverns of Hogsmeade and it just doesn't look very good either. The Three Broomsticks and the Hog's Head will only be a little bit bigger because I want all the buildings to look good together so I don't want to much height differences. It would also take up many bricks, having a whole town of two storage houses in this style. Thanks again for the comments!
  16. I have to disagree, I think it's pretty special this little outpost! I like the techniques you've used to make it more interesting, like those stripes/windows and the walls with arches which are filled with tiles (?). Perhaps a bit more scenery around the outpost would make it even more interesting, like with some dark tan bushes. I also like the figures very much, nice mix between the old ones and the newer castle theme, it fits very well.
  17. Nice review with clear pictures, Cardinal Brick. This sure looks like a sweet set, a nice watchtower with a special baseplate, nice figures and the dolphin (he looks very happy in your picture ). I wish I had a dolphin. The stickers look also give a nice touch with the ice creams, a shame one of them has been ripped apart. I must admit, I like the Paradisa theme. When we were younger, my sister got a little Paradisa set and it had our first LEGO cat, pan and a pizza. It's somewhere in my collection now. When I bought the almost complete LEGO Western series a few years ago through the internet, I was surprised to find a couple of Paradisa sets with it (I got it for free). Since then I've liked the theme even more, it had nice vehicles, some new elements like the animals and of course: female figures. The pink elements are sometimes very useful, but the sets also fit in a (less manly) LEGO town.
  18. Great backdrop, Thrash. The pit of death is just awesome. I agree there are a bit too much plants, but perhaps it would look less exciting without them. The game sounds also very interesting, and it looks even better if you have something like this to place your great custom figures on.
  19. I'm looking forward to day 9. I always look forward to what you've done now with the scenery and the effects, Sandy. And I hope things will be going on a bit politer and less arrogant against other players, it's only a game after all, let's not take it too seriously.
  20. Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop is located in a side street off the main road in Hogsmeade. It's a small tea shop owned by Madam Puddifoot favoured among Hogwarts couples, and was where Harry Potter and Cho Chang went to on Valentine's Day in 1996. After a hard day of work Madam Puddifoot is cleaning things a bit up. She has just put the milk bottles outside and is now cleaning the front of her little tea shop a bit. It's getting dark outside and her cat wants to get in. More pictures at: Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=441842 MOCpages: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/219971 Flickr: I'm waiting on some orders to complete a bigger Hogsmeade building, so I started building this today. And it's already done, yay. It was going to have two floors, but if so I had to use bricks from the other building and it's only a tea shop, so it's small. Hope you liked it!
  21. What happened has happened, but I think it wasn't really fair. None of the outsiders should be saying something, when you're out, you're out. It doesn't matter if it's new or not, or just a confirmation, you just don't do it. I don't think it's a big deal either, but if all of us started to do that the game would end very soon.
  22. How come Desiree Jackson was able to tell information to the other participants? She's dead, she shouldn't be saying anything no more?
  23. Thanks for the information! I never said much in my "About Me" page, but you really have convinced me with all the stuff you have on yours, Siegfried. It's and ideal place to store links to my creations and reviews for myself and for people who are interested. I'll make my work of it tomorrow.
  24. I just paid my 7th Bricklink order of August (and actually, my 7th order this whole year). When you count the seven up I come close to a beautiful Green Grocer, afterwards I almost regret it. But: my project will finally (!) be finished then and when I think of it, it looks so expensive because I've ordered it all in one month (as I would normally have ordered the parts throughout this year). And half of the ordered parts are for other projects I'll certainly do and I'll need them anyway, so why wait to order them.
  25. Great vignette, Ezechielle! The wall looks great with the variation of colours, so does the drainpipe. Nice use of the ski pole, but I especially like the black turbans as garbage bags.
