  1. Bar up the middle, pull down on the 1/2pin? A lightsabre blade may get stuck, so I would use a metal bolt, so you've got a good head to push against and it doesn't cause another problem, providing it's thin enough.
  2. Mf top hat stuck inside a barrel. The detachable end of the old flex tubes over the narrow end of a sextant. Old style skeleton arm inside 1x2x3 slope. Red connector from old style plate hinges inside tube on a brick. I also once built a technically impossible thing with technic, so that no piece could be taken off legitimately - lots of use of perpendicular bracing. I had to bend a couple of pieces to take it apart. And as with others, a 1x1 cone and lightsabre bar.
  3. Thanks again Yes, although it's just a parody of I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables, so it wasn't too difficult. Yeah, it came out smaller than it should have - lack of brown!
  4. Kris Kelvin is at it yet again, with his delightful MOC The Untouchables, complete with unfolding garage. See more pictures and comment here
  5. Really nice work, the minifigs are great, as is the period-styling. I especially like the grills on the windows. Makes me wish I was Polish
  6. Thanks guys, glad you like it I found it quite moving... but it's not everyone's taste I'm a big fan too
  7. For the record, don't use the PVA on top of newspaper. If it dries, it's hell to get off the back of the sails. Water and a scrubbing brush! Are you trying to dye the sails? White poweder paint mixed with the glue, or you could try bleaching it.
  8. He dreamed a dream in time gone by, When cheese was cheap And bread worth eating He dreamed that nuts would always keep He dreamed that Cat would be forgiving Then he was young and unafraid And cheese was ate and pooed and wasted There were no crackers to be had No snacks untried, no cheese untasted But the children came at night With their voices soft as thunder As they eat the larder bare And they turn your feast to nought! He took a pencil in his paw He filled balloons with lungs a-straining He took the deepest breath you ever saw And he was gone into the night! And still he dreams he'll meet the moon That they will live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And outer-space he could not weather He had a dream his life would be So different from this hell he's living Endless floating, so it seems Now space has killed the dream he dreamed.
  9. To clarify: the first recorded incidents of the "new" musket are in 1999, in the Ninja line. Before that, I think it's safe to assume they were of the middle two varieties, with the very first one being from the first wave only.
  10. Thanks I had it in my mind as R2-Dwarf2, but I love your more subtle version!
  11. I think mine came with my SES off eBay - but it came with more men than it should have, so there's no way I can trace the origin of mine (I think I have two). Welcome! Feel free to introduce yourself here, and enjoy the forums!
  12. Really good work - cthulhu is nice and black fantasy - although it looks like he's wearing a beanie! The landscape is great, but the gaps round the edges feel a bit cheap.
  13. The Land-based MOCs Index has some displays in it, for example at conventions, with numerous official and custom "sets" on display. As I recall, however, there isn't a designated thread for this - and this can be it! I'll kick off by linking to Teddy's comparison of various ships -
  14. Thanks everyone! I didn't realise this would prove so popular - shows what I know! I replaced the elevator with a ladder up the middle - but there are fewer access points than in the original, as they wouldn't fit in, because this is a fair bit smaller than the original. You've got my brain churning on a pirate one already - even though I've got a heap of projects on the go as it is! I guess I asked for all manner of cheesy puns... That's no moon... it's a floating rock! Trollbacca Or Cheworca. Seems like two of us did after all! Thanks, I was wondering where to put it, but Castle clinched it, as I don't speak Klingon... Oky pretty much answered it: Tie Fighter = Dragon Hangar = Lair The treasure was just to show it's relation to the dragon, rather than have an equivalent in the set. I agree; it may have looked better had I built this full size - I could have used a larger base for the catapult then, and then it may have actually been able to fire! Obi-Wino? You mean there isn't? Then why did I build this? Correct - I didn't have the pieces or the time to go full size.
  15. This discussion has taken place in various places before; closed. Continue it at the above link, or here; the discussion is essentially about POTC vs Classic, but as these are the two most likely outcomes, the different sets within these themes can be discussed there too.
  16. Thanks for the enjoyable read In my view, doors need to be tall enough for a minifig to pass through; this isn't always the case with a 5-high door, when steps/tiles/big hair are taken into consideration. It does the job, but not as well as a 6-high door in its stead. As official buildings, especially the modular ones, become more accurate in terms of scale, naturally a bigger door is needed in comparison. On the side of the 5-high door, however, I tend to build buildings at 6-high per floor - 5-high door, with a lintel or decoration above it. Maybe that's because in olden times they had low roofs
  17. Hora? Spanish Ninja? Great review, nice job on the photoshopping. I always used to want this set, as the glider was so cool; looking back, it isn't all that great; heck, it's 4 studs wide! - Far too bulky. Nevertheless, the figs are great, and the base is nice too. I wish we could have seen more of those ornamental fish across the themes.
  18. Should speak for itself; many thanks to ISC for his review, most useful! And the individual rooms - - - - - - -
  19. Seems pretty cheap for a MISB. I recommend you check your Wanted List criteria, and make sure the Inform Me By Email box is checked.
  20. Really nice job! I especially love the tap, and you've done a great job with the lighting, angles and green-screening throughout. One of my favourite brickfilms ever!

Adrian doesn't drop by here that often; it would be best to send him a PM, or contact him via Flickr

Thanks for the comments Dunno about the meat hooks - they just seemed to fit! The cannon: I tried with said gearstick, but it didn't work with the toothplates; the two toothplates are held together with one mf hand, and the head is just balanced on; no feet. Or for a random part I bought cheap off BL! Thankye! It was actually easier to have the overlap, as the two walls are at different angles; connecting them flush would have been problematic as a gap would have been formed. Bracing! It's under a lot of pressure. It was more of an accident that turned out nicely; I didn't think about the width of the tower when I started building it, just so long as it was square! This one just didn't want to be built! But one entry left, and then I'm done. Studded waves... I don't mind now I got 154 new 1x2 blue plates from PaB so much, but I still prefer SNOT. The bottom wall is more curved, as I could use the bracing (above), which I couldn't do for the white wall (which also has a lesser curvature due to the overlap). More pics in the first post now.
