  1. I agree - tricorns are too advanced for grunts and swabbies - they should be reserved for Officer and Captains by LAW! X-D Slazza
  2. I think that the TRUE Ironhook (With the pegleg) is superior, but then again, he needs to sit down sometimes and it gives scope (if you have 2, 1 of each) to have it bitten off again and again and again... :-P My one came with a slightly different, "smoother" face, less clashing with the torso... Slazza *wub*
  3. The zeppilin thingy just goes to show how great MOCs turn out to come from a few tinkering with BURPs, <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, Bionicle bits in the wrong boxes (or in my case, ALL my Bionicle stuff :-D ) or just plain random parts with no specific place... That's how most of my non-competition MOCs (mainly my animals, here (MUST get to 6000! ;-) ) start off and in most of the rest I find some ingenious new use or technique... Great Stuff Slazza
  4. I've put in my entry (before the deadline), but the date's passed and the entry thread hasn't closed...? I guess I'm trying to prevent ffurther opposition... :-$ When are they being judged? Slazza
  5. SES wins it for me, with BSB a narrow second. It only just wins because it beats the Barracuda at all my key criteria for ships: Cannons: Equal numbers, but it has the possibility of a 4-gun broadside. The BSB firing system is poor and cramped - the cannon balls won't slide down the barrels! Sails: SES has I more and cooler pirate colours; less usable but much cooler. Masts: One small one to SES extra Crew: An extra figure and slightly cooler ones Creature Feature: A monkey and a parrot to BSB and a shark, a monkey and a parrot to SES - it wins 'cos of the shark Weapons: SES wins by a musket and a cutlass Key features: SES has working steering, GREEN cannon flaps, a compass, 2 culverins and mounted muskets! The BSB has none of this! X-D The others can't compete with these 2, but the Black Skull smashes the Dark Shark into Davy Jones' Locker!
  6. Here's my entry: It's that guy (I used Sam Grant (NOT Jonny Thunder :-X ) to give it a slightly more classical look...) being chased by that dinosaur - Spinosaurus? Dimetrodon? Dilophosaurus? In Jurrassic Park 3 I'm not a big Jurrasic Park fan and so don't go in for scenes but I do remember a big spiny dinosaur chasing a guy with a gun. *y* *y*
  7. Do you have to use recent sets? Couldn't older, classic sets that many people have (e.g BSB) be used? - Older pieces and colours can be more challenging... Brickset Most Owned - use this... You should allow, say, 20 extra pieces from your collection to improve the quality but not ruin the competition (a size limit could be necessary) Slazza
  8. :-) The birds are back! As is the evil penguin (I forgot how to make it, so it's a bit strange... ;-) ) Also there's an ox and a minute duck. Did I win? We shall see...
  9. OOH... Does the 8 x 8 have to be attached to the vignette? Could a 48 x 48 baseplate be balanced on top, masquerading as an 8x8? Hee hee :-D I'm on the job!
  10. Imperial Flagship wins it for me - the Clipper looks too much like the BSB minus a mast and a hull section with new colours and the Armada Flagship looks like a fishing boat - the sails, the net, the chains... The only grievance I have is the pirate guy - he's too clean to be a pirate and too messy to be a seaman! Also, the cannons would have been better on turning sliders, like in SES, to increase playability. It is also the only ship (apart from Raft Raiders (if that is a ship) and the one in Imperial Trading Post) to have realistically coloured sails - canvas or white. I always feel sorry for it, up against SES and Renegade Runner - ouch! ;-)
  11. Thanks guys! X-D I've actually taken the birds and evil penguin off 'cos I don't like them :-$ And the Legosaurus Brix is obviously terrifyingly ferocious! :-P I would have called it something more...advanced...but it was for a Lego Magazine contest (Me versus tons of 4 year olds! Woohoo! :-D ) and a dinosaur (of inferior build quality) under the same name had won it a different Lego competition back in 2000-ish, so I thought: "They like the name - iit was a poor creation but great imagination! I'll copy the name and build a better model! I can't lose! The Monster Dino is mine!" Slazza
  12. EEK!!! My first competition entry! 8-| X-D Anyway... Welcome, my friends, to the Feast Of The Dead! On an island that only the dead can find, rotten corpses are revealed for their true form as they set foot on the isle - they're skeletons! Come, drowned buccaneers, mutineered captains, slaughtered Imperials, cannibalised Islanders, hung pirates and all ye scurvy-ridden dogs who have perished in Davy Jones' Locker! ...Bury old enemies alive or dead... ...Recreate fights of old - steal peglegs, fire pistols... ...and drink up me harties, YO HO!!! :-) More photos Enjoy!
  13. Hmm... I don't really like the Imperials but I'd choose Woodhouse over Broadside 'cos I prefer red to blue!!! :-D Then again, the Armada Captain tops it for me...but where is he?! Redbeard or Ironhook...I'll go for IRONHOOK!!! The greatest, most terrible, utterly savage, strongest, meanest, leanest, brutalist, jaw-gnashingly diabolicalest, scurviest, yarrharrharriest, blood sucking pirate ever to roam the high seas! He beats Redbeard simply because he appeared later...the demoted and battle-scarred version, perhaps? I like him more for the knife and the sheer coolness of his rags. Redbeard is ponced up in his 2 huge ships and multiple hidey-holes. Kahuka, Ironhook's second arch rival...fearsome yet great but worth his weight in Lego gold...yet he fails to pluck the captain's cat hat from Ironhook! >:-)
  14. There's these 2 heiroglyphs I discovered, on a coffin and in Secret Of the Sphynx... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/slyowl/Logos/heiro.bmp *sweet*
