  1. Wow wow, new Egyptian sets? Next year is already looking very promising! I've always been a big fan of Johnny, so I'm really looking forward to these, particularly considering I missed most of the original "desert" sets. I'll be really interested to see how they structure this line and what the sets will be like it sounds very interesting and definitely something I'll be buying he whole line of.
  2. Happy Birthday ISC, and all the rest of you as well. I hope you have a nice relaxing day and get to spend some time with the Lego.
  3. From what I understand it won't be retailing in NZ, but you never know, we may see it from some slightly more unusual source.
  4. Good evening everyone, I'm Drake Nader, your Chief of Police. I'm still awaiting my orders, they were supposed to be coming by Priority Mail, but once they're here I'll be all set to start cleaning up this town. And here we see the triumphant return of Drake!
  5. Good to see some discussion being generated around what sort of games people want to be playing, I think it's important for hosts to have an idea of what players would like to see (although most hosts do have their own great ideas anyway, so don't feel this is the end-all of what you can and can't use in games!). I think Sandy has addressed this really well, so I won't add much more, however I do believe that these people aren't selected because of their rank, but because they are all great contributing members in the first place. Hosts appreciate having players who have proven elsewhere on the boards that they can commit to something, that they can post maturely and with thought, and who have had some experience in games as well. You'll notice that it isn't just "higher ranking" members who fill this role either, there are a lot of people who are selected time and again because of these traits. What I'm really happy with is that hosts will usually balance a game with these types of people and some new players as well, giving everyone a chance to play, rather than doing what I see on many sites and only selecting their friends or just veterans. I think it's an excellent example of the EB community spirit at work. I've never liked random selection, I believe that it is in the hands of the host to decide who can play in their game. As Sandy has said, dedication and reputation do help in selection, but most hosts like to try and get some new players in too, as we often see some really great action from newer players. From all the past games we've seen I can't think of a single host who has ever been unfair in their selections, but even if they are, it is their right as the host after all, it isn't like they're getting any reward out of hosting a game! If there are any further concerns over this issue please either contact me privately or take it to the general discussion thread, as it isn't really what this thread was intended for.
  6. I think you'll find Masked Builder was responding to a post you made earlier in this thread, Build-A-Trent99. Please try and respond respectfully to other members, even when they say something that doesn't contribute greatly to the conversation. Thanks guys.
  7. Definitely interested, thanks for stepping up to host now. I've been around a bit, played a few games in my time, hosted a couple too. Always ready for a new challenge.
  8. Fine by me, whenever you are ready.
  9. Sorry, I'm late! Dragonator throws confetti. Congratulations ISC, cake and grief counseling will be available periodically for your enjoyment. Have fun!
  10. Good luck with the future Sir Dillion, we're really going to miss you! You've been an awesome HIstory Moderator, thanks for keeping my favourite theme forum in line.
  11. Happy Birthday LuxorV, I hope you have a great time on this very special day!
  12. Glad to hear you're all right Legoman, I hope everyone else down that way is doing fine too. Just looking at all the images on the news makes me consider how totally unprepared my house is; not just the Lego, but the crockery sitting on open shelves, the bookshelves free-standing etc... would not be good.
  13. Perhaps you should read the last few pages of the discussion thread, it explains the situation perfectly there.
  14. While this is somewhat true, it is definitely not something to be encouraged, and if I ever see it used indecently then there will be consequences. There's nothing I hate more than a player shouting "let's all vote for him, he was scum in the last game and he killed me, I want revenge!", it just ruins the fun for a lot of people. I see nothing wrong with players analysing styles and such, and this has of course been done before when people refer to how certain people have acted in the past, and had evidence from the current game to back that up, but trying to get a player killed just because they won the previous game is not in good taste in my opinion, and isn't a good way to encourage these games as fun community activities. Having a reputation for metagaming certainly isn't a good way to go about setting yourself up to be selected in future games, either. Of course, we can't stop metagaming that happens privately, and I've got nothing against that! Scum have certainly notorious for it on occasion!
  15. In all seriousness though, metagaming is strictly prohibited in EB games, and I would hope that EB members wouldn't stoop to that sort of thing anyway. Remember, these games are about everyone having fun, surviving is just a bonus.
  16. This is really neat, nice of you to make this for people attending. I think it's great you're getting recognition from the company for your work, let us know how it goes at the convention.
  17. A nice effort Admiral Ron, you've made a great start here. As some have said, on your next attempt you could try incorporating a few more architectural details so that the structure isn't so flat and featureless. Good job though, some nice interior details too.
  18. Very nicely done Newright, I love it when people put a bit of thought into how they photograph their creations. Forced perspective is a really neat technique, and I think you've done a nice job of it here. The little glimpse of the forest in the background really does it for me, it just adds that extra touch of realism. The castle design is good too, not sure I like the shape of that central blue roof though, it seems a little big compared to the tower it is sitting on, but I guess it is a hard thing to do at that scale. The towers sticking out on the rocks are hilarious, I wouldn't want to have my room in one of those! Very well done overall. I can't wait to get some dragon knights for myself!
  19. Hi LegoBuilder, there is already a topic for this book, so I'll merge this thread with the previous topic. It sounds like an interesting book, I may try and find it some time.
  20. Indeed it will! Zepher assures me he will be ready in time though. He better be.
  21. The answers so far say it all, however if you need any more clarification just drop me a PM. This has actually been discussed before, many months ago, but nothing has been implemented yet. If there is sufficient continued interest in Mafia however, then I will be looking at allowing for a series of "Junior League" games aimed at beginners. Hopefully the turn out for the next Mafia game will give me some idea of whether there are enough dedicated forum members to allow for this or not. As Fangy has mentioned, he isn't yet ready to host, and Shadows is definitely not in the right state of mind to be hosting currently! After that, Quarry and Stash both have set times for their games, and I already have you yourself marked down for a slot next year. Zepher approached me with a unique game concept, and I'm happy to let that be a bit of a filler while some of the people on the list prepare themselves, rather than having a 3 month gap.
  22. Sandy, what can I say, this was a fantastic game and your hosting is to be commended. Very well done, and the conclusion was almost cinematic! I just can't get enough of all your detailed editing effects, very cool. The revelation of the whole story arc was really great too; even as a member of the Hallowed I wasn't entirely certain of the objective we were trying to achieve, so it was really interesting and exciting to be able to view and read it all at the end. I'm glad I got those pesky kids. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the night actions all went, I can tell a lot of thought went into them. It's really good to see people building off the traditional Mafia format and experimenting with their own ideas occasionally, and I think this was a particularly fine example of how it worked out favourably. There were a lot of opportunities for all sorts of different things to happen, yet still within the structure of the game, so very well done on that part. Night actions are quite notoriously the hardest thing to balance and get right in any Mafia game. I really enjoyed playing in this game, and I am only sorry I wasn't so active in the first couple of days. I'd like to thank all my fellow Hallowed for playing a superb game, I had a fun time working with you guys. Good job all around.
  23. Please don't discuss the details of the game in this thread. Thanks.
  24. Really nice work Polish Guy, what a neat castle! Modulex fascinates me; I've never seen a brick of it before in my life, but all the pictures look very interesting. I would find it strange building at such a different scale, you've done an admirable job here. Lovely design, very well done.
  25. Great to see we got some winners in stage 2, is there going to be a stage 3 or is this game all finished? Might be nice to have some sort of wrap-up or to finish it off for the players.
