Great stuff; well done. The politeness reminds me of Sid James as the British Governor in "Carry On Up The Kyber". You can't beat British comedy and you have certainly captured the essence of that.

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
brickie replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
At a Kmart outside brisbane, I picked up a Kingdom blacksmith 6918 for $6. Not bad for 2 minifigs and a chook + lots of brownish elements. -
gotoAndLego Looks great! One little detail I just picked up; the iMacs and iBooks should be white. I would buy your set and will certainly vote for it.
-
Brilliant work; the escalators are fantastic. Your use of the colours is so realistic It would be great to see the platform a bit longer so you could put in more details. You are right; the bloke near the rubbish bin does look scary.
-
Great work; I love the train. You appear to have a box under the layout; what did you use? The 'snow' looks very effective.
-
Great work. I love the large 'gringotts'. You have given me some ideas for when I attempt mine.

nicoga3000 I used the Panel 10 x 10 x 2 1/3 Quarter Saucer Base because I had some. These elements also come in light grey. They were in 4 sets [one SW] and I don't know if they were used in them as a complete circle. I also bought the similar top pieces. For the sides of the restaurant I used hinged bricks. I did look 12 months ago but I couldn't find any smaller [or larger] panels. It'll be great to see how your water tower turns out; Good luck with it.

For the BLTG display last year, I built a theme park called "Screamworld'. Of course we needed a Tower of Terror and Giant Drop. What started off as a small experiment on the kitchen bench soon took over the whole garage. After I had finished the tower, I needed something to finish off the top. As I had the bottom 4 quarters of some SW set, I set about building a resaurant for the top. I filled it with flashing lights. I believe that this looks similar to what you want to achieve.

Love the police helicopter and station. Well done for showing us how girls could turn these elements in to whatever they want to create; that is the great thing about LEGO. I can't wait to get some sets in a few weeks when they arrive in Australia; my granddaughters are waiting for them.

Thank you all for those positive comments. I put 'life lights' in the 2 carriages with 1st class on them; the 2nd class passengers have to travel in the dark. I also put a PF motor, battery, IR receiver and a polarity switch in the rear car. There is no room in there for people. stacker9000, I know where you are coming from with the lightbulb moments; my 100W bulb is now a 40W bulb on a dodgy circuit. Ishc-viss-j, the shot was taken at a train show in Brisbane. The modules on this layout belong to the members of the Brisbane LEGO Train Group. The white building in the rear is a realistic model made by one of our members of a building in Brisbane. When the building was demolished, the facade was left. You are correct in stating that Lego displays get the most attention. As well as the kids and parents enjoying the colour and movement, our members also have fun whilst we are there.Your module is never quite the same at the end of the show; a cow eating grass could find its way to the top of a building. There is a large rock monster on top of the white building; much to the delight of kids when they spot it.

LT In the 50s and 60s in Brisbane at the top of Queen St, there was a 3 story bank built from stone on the corner. Next to it was Chemist Roush where you could go to get what you wanted from the pharmacy. The best part of that shop was the milk bar along one side; real malted milk in an aluminium cylinder. Aaaahhhh! Memories. Down the street was Coles in a 3 story building. On the 2nd floor was the cafeteria where, as kids. our favourite treat was a meat pie and 3 vegetables on a plate. Of course this was in the middle of the big smoke; not a small town like the one you're building [tongue firmly in cheek].
-
I stand in awe and take my hat off to you. Well done.
-
Love it LT. Reminds me of my early days in brisbane.

Wonderful! You have combined beautifully my two favourite things; Apple and Lego. You are a champion.

Xyver that shop is great. I am looking forward to the Mk II version as I'm sure it will be great on the BLTG layout at the shows this year.

Back in 2006, I proudly built set 7897 [the RC white train with the bulbous nose]. It looked great until I placed in on my layout. Everytime it went around a corner it would wipe out the scenery or a train on the next track. USELESS The one-piece long nose was completely unsuitable for running on my layout. So it went back in the box and into a cupboard. In 2010, I built set 7938 [Red PF train] and placed it on the layout. As it was a passenger train, it was filled with minifigs. It looked great as it moved around the layout. Later that night, when sitting in the lounge relaxing watching the train run and sipping on something red, an awful realisation hit me; I could see the feet of the passengers through the windows of the train. The build was one brick shorter than the 9V trains. At 3am, the lightbulb turned on; join them together. The result [iMO] looks a lot better than having 2 trains that I didn't want to use.

Basiliscus That is a fantastic stained glass window. It is really attention grabbing. At first I thought it was a dragon but the clever use of the shields with lions corrected my thoughts. The tomb of his ancestor is great. A wonderful build.

1} Male 2} The average age of the population of Australia is 45. I am well, well above average. The good thing is that these days I can get a discount on most purchases. 3} I bought the red train set in my signature for my children 4} It would have to be a tie between castle and train. 5} I love the stuff because we can build what we like from our imaginations. The best part is that whatever we build is correct; there is no 'wrong' when you are building with LEGO.

thanks for the youtube video; the ghost train is great. I can't wait to get one and stick the loco on a 9v motor and put train wheels on the cars. I'm sure all those 'glow in the dark' pieces will look great when the train runs around the tracks at night.

Austinniya The Spirit of Progress is great; well done. I remember travelling on the S of P in 1959 from Albury to Melbourne in a sitting car and sleeping up on the luggage racks. The best part though was eating scrambled eggs for breakfast in the dining car with silver cutlery and linen serviettes whilst the Victorian countryside whooshed past the window. Aaahhhhh! the glory days of train travel in Australia. Thanks, lightning tiger for the photograph; it certainly brought back some fond memories. Austinniya , next time you make the 3-4 hour trip to Brisbane, get in contact with the Brisbane Lego Train Group as we would love to see the S of P run around our layout at a model train show.

Monorailrulez Thanks for the .pdf of the banana wagon. Do the doors open fully or just a little bit?

The brickshelf photos are public now. The banana wagon looks great; there is a lot of great building techniques in there. Do you have a link to the instructions?

Promotional Lego storage container in sets in Korea?
brickie replied to paanjang16's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Is this the plastic container that was in the sets? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LEGO-Toy-Storage-Box-Series-Multipurpose-Mini-Bin-NEW-/320839045487?pt=AU_LEGO&hash=item4ab37f516f#ht_1103wt_871 -
I have never had that problem. I find that it is easier to leave them together and only pull them apart if you want to change the colour of one element.
