  1. I think that the 20% off finished last Sunday. You might be lucky and get 3 board games on clearance and then get 33% off them; they are great for parts at these prices.

  8. Itaria No Shintaku You are so wrong on so many things it is not funny. I have been to the colosseum on a bus tour of Europe. I enjoyed the experience of visiting this ancient building. On the way back up the hill to get to the tour bus, I was harassed on 4 occasions by 'ladies' who could show me a quick good time; maybe it is my good looks or maybe I was on my own as the group moved up the hill. We also were encouraged by many beggars to support their families. Before we got off the bus to walk down the hill, the tour guide reminded us to secure our wallets as pickpockets were at work in the area. It was interesting to note that there were a number of people standing about being spoken to by the police in front of agitated tourists. As for cars and buses in the area, the photo on Romabricks?? says it all. Perhaps you should have heeded the advice of your mate and been careful as to how you responded. The colosseum by reload is a fantastic MOC. As an Italian you should be proud that an AFOL has brought such a wonderful ancient ruin to life via LEGO. I look forward to seeing your MOC of the colosseum.
  9. I think that you missed a keyword in 'reload's' post; Some "Some questions that he translated and asked me;" I believe that his friend sent him an email and 'reload' answered some of them in his post. I would imagine that the other questions are in the email.
  10. Looking at the comments on that Italian blog site, most of them are petty and appear to come from bloggers who are jealous of your work. One person suggests that they are working on a 'realistic' model but it won't be ready for many years. It is noted that not one of the negative bloggers produced photos of their MOC of the colosseum. Perhaps you should have made it very realistic and included some of the activities outside the building today:- * pickpockets by the dozens * 'ladies' looking for business * beggars * 2000 cars and buses clogging the surrounding streets . The use of white bricks is great as it highlights many features inside the MOC which would otherwise be hidden by darker colours. It is a fantastic MOC and you have every reason to be proud. To be a great MOC, it needs humour and you have certainly shown that here. I love the Emperor arriving in the Popemobile. As an added touch, do you think that you could add an Italian AFOL being eaten by a lion. Great work, mate.
  11. I don't know if you built that amazing colloseum, but if you did; WOW! It is hard to work out what lights are used in that but they are certainly effective and it would be great to find out the details. I have used Christmas tree lights with success as they are cheap, run all day on batteries and the LED lights can fit into a technic hole.
  12. Thanks for the comment. As there was no room to build 'the shire' with its hobbit houses, there was nowhere for Galdalf 'to arrive'. So I used gandalf on a white horse for the battle scene and I placed Frodo on the cliff; just for somewhere to put him.
  13. 'Mesozoic Mike' I love your display! (Especially Helm's Deep.) Thanks for that; and for the kind comments from other EBers. Because they represent scenes from a movie (Or story, really), they can't all exist in the same place at the same time. It is a story that you are depicting in plastic. What you put down is correct because you said so. There are 2 Frodo's in that display;one on each side of the hills. Viewers can only focus on one scene at a time. Maybe I'll just have to pick one set... No go for the lot and use all the minifigs Thanks for the comment. The keep is sitting on 2 Baseplate, Raised Platform 16 x 16 x 2 1/3 which in turn are sitting on numerous plates. For a display, the keep has to be raised in order to see all of the great features. Helm's Deep is certainly a great build but could do with more minifigs.
  14. Great MOC. The wolf is instantly seen; well done.
  15. The LOTR sets seem to be very popular. Although LOTR is fiction, there is a great interest in the 'historical' details. It got me thinking about the possibility of LEGO developing a series of sets based on Shakespeare's great plays. When I was in my teens and studying these plays, there were a series of 'comics' that depicted the classics. These comics were sold out as soon as they arrived in the paper shop. I feel that a series on Shakespeare would have similar results as all young people [and older ] would buy the sets to get the mood of the times. Just imagine Hamlet's castle high on a hill in Denmark or Macbeth's castle amongst the heather in Scotland. The Richards' would lend themselves to great advanced building sets.
  16. Brilliant work! A great combination of things 'Ancient and Modern'. I love the use of the hinges to position the stands. Of course, the Popemobile is a classic.
  17. I was asked to fit some LOTR sets into a display case for BricksnFun at Capalaba. I tried my hand with 6 of the current sets; the forge was unavailable. Like most LEGO sets, these don't have have a ' character' on their own. They are all lacking a positioning in the ancient world. This is my attempt to join them together. The circular building at the rear of the castle had to be raised a few bricks so that it could be seen. Of course the battle didn't take place on a flat surface so again a landscape was needed. As Helm's Deep is in a valley, I tried to show the hills. Gandalf had to be at the battle so he is up high ready to lead the charge. I would imagine that Gandalf the white is a natural for the next sets in the series. The baddies blew up the drain so I tried to depict the explosion. Weathertop is up a hill so it is raised on some BURPS. The monster gets hit by a column in the mine so I placed them on hinges. The spider speaks for itself. It was great fun putting this together. There are probably more of my elements on display than what came out of the boxes.
  18. Thank you all for the positive feedback. Like the knights jousting, I couldn't let the King sit still in his Royal carriage; it had to move. Monorail track was ideal as it would fit inside the train track of our display. Of course, the carriage is 8 studs wide in parts so it is sitting precariously on a 4 stud wide base. When you are charging the battery before the second day of the show and you trip over the power cord, the King suddenly found 'freedom'. An hour later it was back together but I'm sure that it is not the same a when I built it at home.
  19. Thanks for the kind comments. Initially I used the HP green but it didn't seem 'right'. I also wanted to have an 'evil' castle for the dragon knights and a 'good' castle for the Royal knights. Thus the colouring changed to red. There is a movie of the Brisbane LEGO Train Group's display at My link
  20. Thanks for the kind words; and also 'soccerkid6'. I had it ' arranged' so that the white knight would win. This worked most times. The only time I went 'outside' to take a video of it, my 'mates' moved the lances so the 'evil' knight won. Here is a photo of part of the castle. More images are available on the BLTG website.
  21. When the Kingdoms' Joust set was released, I was impressed by the images on the box and set about making a moving joust. I 'copied' the graphic on the front of the box complete with strings, motor and gears. The Mk 1 version worked but I was told that it was completely wrong as the knights were on the wrong sides and had their shields in the wrong hands. A little research soon showed the errors of my ways [ and the lego box ]. After much trial and error, the final version was shown at the Brisbane Model Train Show in May.
  22. For an old codger, this new set takes me back to the Munsters and Psycho. It is exactly as i would imagine a haunted house would be. I will be first to buy one ; for the grandkids of course. Adam, you have done a brilliant job; I admire your skill. I am looking forward to building this so that I can learn from all the brilliant building techniques that you have incorporated in this set. A brilliant set, well planned and well executed by LEGO.
  23. I showed this haunted house to my granddaughters this afternoon, Their responses; "We have to get one of those". When I explained that it cost a lot of money and I would have to give up eating to pay for it, I was told, "Well you do need to lose weight!" Never try to argue with an 11 year old. The rest of the time was spent on how they could put Stephanie and Emma in there to 'brighten' it up. I guess that I am not going on a holiday AGAIN this year; thanks to Lego &^%$%##$%^&**((
  24. Wonderful MOC! At least the 'volunteers' would have a soft landing in the water; if they get through the towers.
  25. elmas Did you mean 'tomorrow, 31st MAY'?
