  1. My granddaughters and some of their girl friends were here today. I showed them the EB reviews of some of the Friends sets. Apart from the ooooows and wows, they managed to tell me that they loved the minidolls and that they wanted each one of them. The animals were so 'cute' and the orange juice cartoon was cool. They then went off to the kid's room where they could be heard role playing with some series of ghost / monster dolls. I can't recall hearing any comment about gender from them. As I said once before, " Viva la difference".
  2. If the photos are to be believed, it looks like the 15 year old work experience student at Lego knocked this monstrosity up in their lunch break.
  3. Gee Lightningtiger, don't feel too bad. Who owns the pub in Adelaide these days?
  4. Fantastic bus; well built. I think that the wheels are quite realistic; thank you for adding the photo to highlight this point. Hopefully Lego will steal your idea and turn it into a kit; with royalties to you of course.
  5. Just did. Brilliant concept though it won't replace the usefulness of the red 9V motor.
  6. I bought some of the Cars2 sets and they looked great but they just sat there and looked at me. So I built them onto slot cars { very modified }. By attaching a 9V train controller to eachh slot, I was able to have enough power to have 3 or 4 'Cars' racing on each slot. Kids loved it especially if you raced Lightning against Franchesco.
  7. Lego Dacta set 1030 and the cards 1031 [ and their modern upgrade ] would be excellent for this. 1030 is just a collection of pieces but the simple machines outlined on the cards are excellent. Card #1 has the kids build a square and then test its strength to hold a load. Then they build a triangle and test its strength. There is a new discovery on each of the 20 cards. Then there is the series of little boxes put out by LegoDacta that were aimed at young kids. They dealt with gears, levers, etc. You should be able to find the cards on the web.
  8. The standard blue colour under flash light = light blue. @ TheBrickster : I added those photos in this thread to follow on with your 'gravestone' train.
  9. Love the car; the front wheel has me scratching my head as to how you built it. Brilliant.
  10. Join the club! In Australia, we have the same problem. A number of AFOLs never buy Lego at RRP but wait until it is on clearance. At present in Australia, K Mart has Kingdom sets at 50% of the marked price. Now is the time to buy. The other method is to buy from shop at home in USA and then get 'Shop USA' or similar forwarding agents to forward it on to you.
  11. Brilliant review; my granddaughters are going to love this. Poor petite Peter; he has my sympathy. It could be something to do with those tight pants he's wearing.
  12. Brilliant movie. I intended to watch just the first bit of it to see what it was about but I couldn't stop. I just had to watch it all. Fantastic story line and the filming is incredible. 10 out of 10.
  13. Thanks TheBrickster. When we display at model train shows, the kids do love it. Of course, it can't travel too far on the layout as it doesn't fit through tunnels, etc.
  14. A brilliant tutorial. Thank you for your time and effort.
  15. The Time Twisted trains were great. As soon as I got my hands on one, I just had to get it to move on the tracks. The 'engine' was modified similar to the build of the '9V snow plough'. This makes the funnel spin around. I covered a 9V motor and added a micro motor. This slowly turns the witches' coven and the palm tree. I added a spinning ghost to Bat Lord's car. it looks very effective when on the move.
  16. Good imagination and great photography. Well done.
  17. I prefer to see photos on EB as I find that if I go to the link, I tend to go exploring there and forget about what I was doing on EB. Maybe it is something to do with old age.
  18. Fantastic build. I love all the details.
  19. Well done Skrytsson. It certainly is a great MOC. Both models portray the reality of life though I could imagine that, in Australia at this time of year, the male's thought in the 2nd MOC could be represented by a minifig in white with a red cricket ball in his hand.
  20. Perhaps a Technic, Axle Pin with Friction Ridges Lengthwise [ very modified ] would do the trick? I be tempted to take a knife to the both ends and hold it in place with a 'soft' glue that will eventually break down so you can use the motor for another purpose. I added a 9V motor to my 7725 and then rebuilt the end carriage with only 2 wheels to match the motor. It looks great.
  21. The bank looks great. The safe is very realistic. Perhaps you could have a security guard standing out the front. I must say that this is a unique way of learning another language. You'll be fluent in Danish when you do get to visit Buland.
  22. Thanks for the kind comments. The sad thing is that next week I will have to pack it away and rebuild it into a medieval scene. I can envisage 2 castles in the rear corners for the King and the falcon prince. Exciting times ahead.
  23. During the last school holiday, the 4 grand kids wanted to build a castle. It took all day but when they went to their homes that night, they were all happy with the Bat Lord castle. The next time the girls came over, they proceeded to decorate the castle with lots of beds, flowers, stoves, refrigerator, jewels and anything that went in the interior. In fact, any pink brick was dragged out of storage and used as was anything 'Belville' like. Quite a few of Bat Lord's soldiers were turned into girls by a new head and hair. A few days later, the grandson saw this, played with it for a while and then proceeded to raid my pirate ships so the castle could have more cannons and soldiers. The next time they were all together, the 4 of they played for an hour happily together, each in their own world of fantasy. As the French would say, "Viva la difference".
  24. Fantastic. I love all the detail. Well done.
  25. Very nice work. Maybe the wise men took turns at riding on the camels. I love the star above.
