  1. For those of you who spent time building lion knight's castle 10305, there is significant evidence inside that booklet that suggests that fright knights and black knights will come back. The authors make reference to Lord Basil's signature on the letter inside the keep. The authors make reference to the rampart wall holding steady just incase the black knights make an attempt at the wall. I was stocked/excited when i read those notes. Little teasers for us.
  2. A great contest, thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. Just a few short comments. 1. Digital vs. Analogue separate categories. 2. Digital Voting Poll. 3. Size Constraint separate categories. 4. Mandatory Voting otherwise disqualification. 5. Democratic and Judge Specific categories. I disagree with Mazin's proposal for people to register their builds. That takes the fun and autonomy out of this forum. If you want more people to participate, you have to make it fun. The funny & friends entries will win the popular vote, but the judges will vote for the true winners. Looking forward to the next one :)

  4. Iragm, Thank you for the detailed feedback, I really appreciate it! I started the floor tiles this morning and really just ran out of time. If I had an extra day or two, and slept on it, i would have ripped them out and just used planks. Oh well, pens down, submission in! The eyes were definitely one of those IFFY things to do. Every time I looked it at, I laughed, and kept them on. Maybe a pirate would have painted something over the port holes? Regarding the double jib; I'm not super familiar with ship design, newbie just learning. I liked the way it looked, so i kept it. I couldn't find any reference images that supported it, so I definitely made it up. I'll be making edits to it of course, just to tighten up those loose ends. Thanks again :)
  5. Thanks for the comment! I saved the mosaics for the last and I agree; im not too thrilled of how they turned out. I spent all day re-doing them over and over again. Either simplify the design or just use wooden planks. As for the minifigs, there is inconsistency in the age of course... I love having lot's of crew, so the blue and red squad make it fun.
  6. The UCS Jolly Roger is a celebration of 35 years of Lego Pirates. This set aims to bridge all pirate themes; taking cues from the noteworthy ships. Jolly Roger is a generic term for the flag flown by a pirate crew during the 18th century. The crew consists of the original barracuda pirate family with the addition of three figures. Blue Squad Leader. Red Squad Leader. Crows Nest Look Out (Intern). Floors are removable and the walls rotate outward to access the interior spaces. Technic pieces allow the rudder to move left and right by spinning the wheel. Liberace on the Keys. The original Barracuda next to the Jolly Roger.
  7. Wow, the base if very unique. I think it feels more true to actual embattlements along the sea. I think more rock elements would help to make it feel more grounded. I am curious about the battered walls, with slanted plates, as opposed to building up brick stone traditionally. There is quite alot packed into this set. Lot's of playability.| Of course, a TON of cannon fun. Keep up the great work!
  8. Great overall design. Very true to the original set. I think that the original set lacked alot of visual integrity. The buildings always look like they are going to fall over. I think that the addition of the articulated stones help make the build feel stonger. I do think that the walls need more integration with the floor, but that's neither here nor there. Great work, I love that you adapted the design over time. Editing is always welcome. Pen's down when the timer is up. Keep up the great work!
  9. This is a very cheeky set! Great build style. I would try adding some different colors for the stones. Articulate the rock just a bit more. Love the bottles. Keep up the great work!
  10. I love this set so much. It's a perfect contemporary recreation of the original islanders set. I especially love the island separation update. It gives the layout a much more unique feel. The renders are really nice and crisp. Easy to read. I think my favorite part is the statue prison for red beard. Keep up the great work!
  11. It is especially challenging to get the curves of a ship correct out of Lego. I think we will all struggle with this forever. That means, our imagination much take over to fill in those gaps. Every time I look at a ship MOC I study the stern castle to see how the artist addressed the arcs. I love every single one, to be honest, because I can tell so much thought had gone into it. Yours is no exception, I love how the back rests on the hull element. It feels well balanced. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the technic masts. I much prefer the classic pirates elements. I like your resolution of the masts, they have a lot of texture and a feeling of strength. Keep up the great work!
  12. A much needed addition to the current pirates icon theme! Lego really should have released a duet set for both the red coats and blue coats. Thank you for complimenting the universe. The details are very similar to 10320. I think I would have liked to see a few more unique elements; especially in the caves as the original set had a taller base? Maybe the base sizes are about the same. Regardless, it would be cool to see it expanded just a bit more. Great work, i love all the details. Keep it up!
  13. This is such a great addition to the current range of icon sets! So many unique details that play into the current themes. I'm really impressed with your nephews' design abilities. The comic book aesthetic is especially appealing and adds the final bit of magic. Keep up the great work!
  14. Magnificent Set! I love the renders and professional quality presentation. Specifically, the site plan of the map is gorgeous and really gives the audience a feel for the size of the set. If UCS was around back then, I think we would all vote for this one. Been following you on Instagram of awhile now; huge fan of your work. Keep it up!
  15. This is gorgeous island set. I can see this as a series of island pieces for a larger cast away island. This might be the outermost dock allowing larger ships to dock nearby. The balance of parts and shapes is nice. The wooden columns really feel that they are embedded into the ground. I think it would be nice to see a palm tree on site to compliment the palm frond roof. Keep up the great work!
  16. Hello Everyone, My name is Ryan. Im a licensed Architect, Imagineer, and Professor born and raised in Los Angeles. I'm currently living in Tokyo working on the construction of Tokyo Disneysea Fantasy Springs. Like everyone here, I've always been a huge fan of Lego. After years of setting aside my favorite toys, I've picked Lego back up as a profession hobby. Pirate theme will always be dearest to my heart. I currently own all the major sets except for 10210, 6280, and 6291. Just picked up the DreamZzz Nightmare Shark Ship. My second favorite theme is castle with a unique emphasis on Fright Knights. I'm currently sourcing these sets and will be doing a custom Bat Lord Manor MOC after the pirate's competition. Enjoy a few phots of my current collection!
