  1. I personally like the cloth capes - It's probably because they've been around since the start of Lego Star Wars, but they add a very "Lego" feel to the minifigures for me, even if it's not screen accurate. Heck, there's often times I'll give a cape to a minifigure who didn't have one before, just because I like the way it looks! I also don't think that they will completely replace cloth capes. The skirt piece does work well for some characters, but it wouldn't made sense to give them to, say Darth Vader or Superman. I also don't think Lego will go full rubber cape either - the rubber ones don't have printing (besides a small Batman logo on the front of one), only have on color (and lots of characters have two different colors in their capes), and, thus far, they mostly come in one main shape (so no fancy scalloped ends like the Vampire Knight, a weathered look like the upcoming Wolfpack Beast Master, or fancy designs like Lady of Pain). And I have similar feelings about the rubber capes as I do Lego Friends - they're fine for what they are, but they feel somewhat "kiddy" to me, and I'm not personally interested in them, but I also won't begrudge anyone who does like them. I do think that they have a role to play, and I'm okay with their current level of inclusion - but I also don't want them usurp the cloth ones, or even become more common than they are.
  2. 100% agreed. If you're only going to give printed legs to one character, Spot getting them makes the most sense - for everyone else, I don't think it's all that necessary. My pie-in-the sky dream is that we get multiple sets, if not a full wave, to release with the third movie. I wouldn't be shocked if the Spot set is going to be used to gauge interest in Spider-Verse sets and potentially greenlight more if it sells well. There's plenty of characters and locations they could pull from using just the first two movies to keep making more, if they so choose.
  3. I'm not quite sure enough yet if I'll want to get the entire Spider-Verse set, or just get Spot and Jefferson Davis - I've got the older Miles and Gwen, so I might try to save a little and just get those two loose. I'm also very glad that I've already got Spider-Ham and Spider Noir - I'm sure they're going to skyrocket on Bricklink now that this set is coming out. Still, a great set overall, and hopefully we can get even more sets with them soon! Surely we can get a Peni Parker mech vs Doc Ock or Prowler - right? I know nothing about Red Hulk, but he basically just looks like a sunbather who overslept and got a really bad sunburn. Still, I won't throw shade at a set that's finally introducing a new character to the Marvel universe. Similar thing with the Venom car, even though we got a Spider-Girl a few years (though the two are different). This really feels like a return to the mid-2010's wave of sets giving us great one-off characters like Craven and Doctor Doom. Keep it coming!
  4. I suppose the argument there is that Indiana Jones, Two-Face, and Black Widow are all targeted for a slightly older demographic, whereas Looney Tunes skews a little younger. In either case, though, I think it as much comes down to the parenting, and how you're taught to play. My family played with all kinds of wooden swords, Nerf guns, etc (and as we got older, airsoft and BB guns). But there were very strict rules, and we knew to not hit each other hard, and to not point airsoft/BB guns at people. And we especially knew to NOT play with any of the real guns or knives in any circumstances, until we got a lot older. And all of this was balanced with other games with guns, like plastic action figures, video games, and Legos, which used guns frequently. Some other family who had the same access and ideas as us may have, admittedly, gotten hurt in some way, either due to different rules or accidents, so maybe the best answer is that the right answer comes down to the individual family, and not put all the blame on the media. I dunno - I know it's a dicey topic that has a lot of strong opinions on it, and I'm not a parent yet and I'm missing some perspective... That's my main theory as well. Same case as The Muppets and how Janice got in over Scooter, Dr. Teeth, Sam the Eagle, etc.
  5. I think the closest to that would be 2009's 8036 Separatist Shuttle - it does have some Battle Droids, but the focus is on two diplomats. And it may have been in an action scene as well - I don't remember early Clone Wars all that well - but it's definitely not a battle ship. I suppose something like that could work as a way to get some jedi - but you're going to sell a lot more sets if they're with a fighting ship and some clones.
  6. There's a new image floating around that has more detail. It's an IRL, "Lifestyle" image that Lego frequently uses with promotional material.
  7. Based on comments on Bricklink, it looks like Wave 2's starting to get shipped out across Europe. Hopefully that means the US will get them in the next week or two!
  8. I didn't save a screenshot of it, but I took a photo on my phone. I could PM it to you, if you'd want.
  9. How is Anakin not an orphan? He has no father, and his mother dies in his arms. That, like, the definition of an orphan. And I don't think most of the Jedi order was very familial, let alone paternal, to Anakin.
  10. So's Anakin. And Leia and Luke lost their adopted families in their first movie. Anywho, going back to bricks (as much as I do like these discussions, especially since they're staying civil) - I find it interesting that the Tanitive IV set has been on a pretty consistent sale at most places I've seen this holiday season - usually 20 percent off, but sometimes 30. I wonder if that set's actually underperforming what was expected, or maybe it's acting as a bit of a "loss leader" for Legos this holiday season? Or maybe it's just that a lot of sets seem to be on sale now? I dunno - I thought it was interesting, especially with as popular as it was when it first came out.
  11. Well, that was a fun joke while it lasted! Why would Rogue be put in every X-men minifig set alongside Wolverine? She's a good character, but she's nowhere near as iconic as Wolverine. Plus, now that we have a better size down for the Sentinel, there's little chance it could justify a $60-70 set, unless there were two or some kind of building with it. Let's not give this guy any more attention - if this somehow does end up being true, we'll hear more from someone more reliable. From where I'm sitting, though, this is totally unbelievable, even if he tries to come back later with more facts.
  12. The head seems to be from the Comic-Con exclusive Sheriff Deadpool, though I could be wrong. The back piece is also potentially going to retire soon - it's only being used in the Daily Bugle for Blade, so that could potentially add another wrinkle if they don't act soon. I joked about a Max Rebo or Sauron mech before - but, honestly, a Deadpool one would work just as well. Heck, announce them all on April Fool's or something - people would love it! The real question is if the Galactus we saw will be the one in the set
  13. I tuned in to watch the new Mission: Demolition short on Disney+, and the new Pixar ones are up as well. Definitely not much to write home about - I think the Coco one was the only one that's memorable - but they're not an awful waste of time.
  14. There's definitely a lot of cool designs from Mission: Demolition that would be great to see. It really makes me miss the days when other smaller projects, like The Yoda Chronicles or The Freemaker Adventures would get tie-in sets. Alas, they're probably never going to see the light of day...
  15. You can search for the parts on Bricklink, at it will show you what they are (unless a part is very recent). I plugged in both of those parts, and it says they're the torso and legs of Jordana from Ninjago (njo897) EDIT: Never mind - I just read you question fully. Lego is funny with what gets added, and in what kinds of quantities. There are several other parts that were supposed to be added in thsi last wave, but didn't. If i had to guess (and be a little cynical), Lego is trying to make sure that you can't guy the full minifigure for ones tied to a single set/expensive sets (or both), so there's still a draw to buy the minifigs from there.
  16. My guess is that it's either a VIP early access set, or just a typo. It still doesn't seem to be up yet on Lego's website for the US, so I can't say for sure, but I imagine it might be more clear once it's up. The line "they may show up in content" makes me think of media like the Disney+ specials - that may be why Gambit's more detailed there, but is downgraded for the final set. Also, just another reason to not get too hopeful by anyone who does show up there. That, or some of the designs may have ended up in Fortnite - lots of other designs are 1:1 with existing figures. Though I'd still love to see some smaller, cheaper sets at some point! The Deadpool bit is interesting, but I suppose it makes sense on some level. It could even be that the reasons behind excluding him have changed over time, which is why they "lost track" of exactly why. Cerebro looks like a complete nothing-burger, but it will probably at least help recoup some costs from those who buy the set Day 1.
  17. They technically still live on - even if just through the ring piece.
  18. If anything, that makes me even more wary of the Sentinel leak. Are we just being told things we want to hear and swallowing the bait? In either case, that's not much of a scoop, seeing now the retirement sheet on the Lego leaks subreddit already has most of them retiring at the end of this year, wit the last one retiring at the end of 2025.
  19. I would unironically buy a set with a Sentinel minifig, and reuse it as Charlie the Robot from Scooby-Doo. It's not the exact right color scheme, but it would work.
  20. At most, I think we'll get one new character. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get two, but the X-Jet only had one "unique" characters with Magneto (unique printing , at least). I imagine they'll want to have at least one gal in there - I'll guess either a repeat Jean, or a new Jubilee (Rogue was already in the X-Jet and Storm was in the CMF). The fourth character is a lot more open - Morph could be a good pick, since he wouldn't be too hard to make and could be a subtle nod to Pride Month, if it releases in the summer. Still, I'm excited for the possibilities! I imagine at least some of them will stay exclusive - or, at the very least, their specific designs. I could see Iceman and Bishop at the very least staying exclusive, since they're a lot more niche.
  21. Those are still going to be really small builds - for $5, you could also just get the 30683 polybag, which has 58 pieces - literally twice as many parts! Sure, the "CMF" will almost definitely have printing instead of stickers, and they could maybe do something interesting with the helmet builds, but I'm still not feeling a single shred of excitement towards these.
  22. If it wasn't for the leak, this would have been the first real look at Gambit - so, why haven't they officially announced the Mansion yet?! As cool as some of those designs are, I'm also not going to get my hopes up. We got awesome looking Hydra goons and hipster Collector from Code: Red last year, and they never made it into official sets. Plus, as has been pointed out, Gambit's different, too.
  23. The Mansion definitely looks nice - but I'm going to wait until we get more clear pictures of the back for me to get a final feel for it - based on what I can see, it might a a little cramped. In either case, $300 is going to be out of my price range for this - I can only hope that smaller, cheaper sets get made at some point. That, and Lego really needs to invest in some kind of cloth trenchcoat piece - it would help out Gambit and so many other minifigs. Even if it can't go into a full retail set, something in a CMF would be great (and they're done one-off cloth pieces in there before, like the S24 Falconer) Not having Hawkeye in the logo is bizarre. Sure, he's probably the least popular of the OG six - but he's still a foundational member. That just feels cheap and stingy. And the airport scene makes me feel the same way as some of the BDP sets - a nice set, but due to the baseplate, the cost is greatly increased. Rogue, obviously. Mystique can't copy powers, and Rogue is just standing on the ground while basically everyone else is flying, shooting laser beams, or both.
