DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
psqidexslizer replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Just saw The Batman part 2. Somehow even worse than the first one. Literally no idea what was going through his mind with this “Joker.” So glad this isn’t part of the DCU. Can’t believe we got sets for this turd but not Superman. -

Only 12 out of their currently active 31 ongoing series are Batman, or Batman character, series. Even if we ignore the Absolute universe and Teen Titans Go, it’s still just 11 out of 25. Is it Batman heavy? Absolutely. But he doesn’t take up over half of the ongoing titles. -

I’m not calling them Batman sets, but I am saying Batman is in them and that should count (especially the Black Manta set where both him and Robin appear and his submarine is a significant part of the build). But it’s a moot point, because even if we classify those three as non-Batman sets, that’s still 61% of sets where Batman is the focus. I’d still call that Batman and friends rather than a DC theme. To compare it to Marvel, Spider-Man seems to get the most attention of anyone; but we haven’t gotten a single year where Spider-Man got the majority of the sets. The only character I can think of who has is Iron Man back in 2013. If DC had multiple years where Batman didn’t take up the majority of the focus, I’d consider that a DC theme. But when he gets 60% of the focus, it’s just Batman and friends. -

39% of sets being non-Batman means 61% were Batman. And, even then, you included the 3 sets that are Batman in that number, so 69.4% of the sets in that era included Batman, which is only marginally better than the prior era which had 71% of sets with Batman. If over 2/3rds of sets having Batman in them isn’t “Batman and Friends,” I don’t know what is. And that’s also ignoring that Batman had his own special theme for his movie. If we were to include those, the number of sets without Batman would drop to 22%, which is even more worse than the three years prior. So the theme is only saved because Lego decided Batman was so special that he needed his own movie and theme that ran for three waves. -

DC theme is a bit of a stretch. It was more Batman and Friends than anything else. -

I’d like a Joker in a green suit and top hat, with caucasian, rodent-esque face. Just in case anyone at LEGO is listening. -

Nah. Even Lego isn’t Joker-crazy enough to half-megablocks a “Joker” from a deleted scene. -

I’m curious what figures will be included in these sets. Batman will obviously be in both of them. And that could be all we get. For the DCEU Batmobile, Superman seems like the obvious choice, but Harley Quinn (specifically the DCEU version) is arguably a more popular character who would fit in the set and, I assume they’d want to focus on Batman characters given they’ll be the ones in the game. Joker is another possibility, unfortunately. For The Batman, Penguin or Riddler seem like obvious choices but Gordon, Catwoman, and Alfred are all also options. There’s not really anyone new who they throw in. -

I can’t see us getting two Batman modular buildings back to back. IMO, this year will be Oscorp in late fall, around the same time the smaller Oscorp retires. Daily Planet or another Batman modular building will come in 2027. -

This may/may not be an unpopular opinion, but if we do get a Batfleck Batmobile, I’d rather it included SS Harley Quinn over Superman. -

After the Marvel set leaks, I am excited to see what Batmobiles we are getting. DC might be dead, but they’re digging up Marvel’s corpse at this point. -

The rest of the January set list has leaked. Very disappointing, IMO. Hopefully the new Bugle has a new villain or two, otherwise I can’t imagine the build will improve on the modular we’ve already gotten. -

She’s one of the only Batman villains to appear in almost every adaptation (DCEU being her only absence, although there were plans for her). Harley Quinn is arguably more popular at the moment, but Catwoman has a much larger presence, having been around and been popular for far longer. She’s also Batman’s main love interest which makes her more essential as a character. -

Batman, Joker, Robin (Dick Grayson), and Catwoman. Arguably, those are the most iconic Batman characters and should be included in any anniversary set. Beyond that, in respective order: Alfred, Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Commissioner Gordon. -

I was going by the 1.5 years and assuming an Oscorp modular would drop in October/November. Matt Reeves did say they have “never really been done in a movie before,” so I guess there is some vagueness for animated movies, TLBM, and cameos. Basically, it rules out Joker, Two Face, Bane, Ras, Talia, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Polka Dot Man, Ratcatcher, Black Mask, Zsasz and probably Clayface ie all the A-listers and a lot of the B-listers (and a handful of Z-listers we never suspected would be included). -

In the past, we’ve gotten one set earlier in the year (January in all but one instance) with minifigures that are later used in the modular building. So, either that tradition is breaking, we’re getting another Batman modular, or the modular is going to Marvel. Personally, I’m betting on either a Baxter building or Oscorp (the current one will be retired at that point and The Daily Bugle will have retired, meaning Lego is gonna need a new flagship Spider-Man set). Daily Planet would be a great choice for 2027 though, given the release of Man of Tomorrow and Superman being the most iconic character left who hasn’t gotten a modular building. -

Hey now, we all got that ugly tree with the birthday sign and a tent. But in all seriousness, they covered the parts of the Shire that are focused on in the films, namely Bagend and Bilbo’s birthday party. There really wasn’t much else that people would recognize. Heck, I’d argue most people didn’t even recognize all the minifigures included. With Minas Tirith, the focus was divided between the topmost level (tree and healing house) and the battle outside, with some notable scenes also giving attention to the interior. Not to mention, the shape of the city is fairly distinct and recognizable. It’d make sense for them to capture the shape of the city, even if they do scale it down significantly like they did with Barad-Dur. There is one thing though I am fairly certain we can both agree they won’t cover - Faramir’s funeral pyre. -

Kinda surprised this is the next one. I thought they’d do Helm’s Deep first so they could reuse Theoden and generic riders of Rohan in the inevitable Minas Tirith. The last two sets had eight new minifigures each. I’d assume those would take up at least two slots with another three taken up by a new Aragorn, Pippin, and Gandalf the white. Denethor II, Faramir, Eomer, and Eowyn should all ideally be there as well as some ghosts. Seems like a lot of new characters to cover, I wouldn’t be surprised if some didn’t make the cut. I’d also assume reuses of Merry, Gimli, and Legolas from Rivendell, The Mouth of Sauron and orcs from Barad-Dur, and the Nazgûl from the Fell Beast. -

Depends on your definition of decent. If you want a bunch of new characters, you’re screwed. If you just want high quality versions of different Batman and Joker with lots of printing, you’re probably still screwed. If you want 3 generic Batman minifigures, congrats, you’re Lego’s target audience.
