  1. QM Note: I'll wait for Capt. to decide whether or not to use the Blessing on the elven blade.
  2. For such a well role-played class decision, I thought it was kind of unfair that Alexis missed out completely, so - Merry Grogsmas! But Alexis is really making me smash my head on the wall. Haldor, Phil, strangle insult her!
  3. I'm not! I'm not at all!
  4. Round One of the Battle With The Tentacled Terror >Punii acts like a good little hostage: unfortunate success! >Alex VS Right Tentacle A (front): Special Damage Miss >Sylph consumes Smelling Salts (back) >Sylph heals Tentacled Terror (back): No heal Lesser Heal (19 HP healed) >Elgar VS Left Tentacle A (back): Damage Hit (11x2=22+20=42x2=84-2=82 damage) >Lycan VS Left Tentacle A (front): Special Damage Special Damage (Rock Spike: -4 ether to aquos, 9 damage to entire party disregarding SP) >Galen chugs Smelling Salts (back) >Galen consumes a Nostrum (back) >Johon VS Right Tentacle A (front): Damage (18-6=12 damage) The battle with the gargantuan beast begins. Aquos's impromptu method of seeing provides a soundtrack for the battle, his tail and tentacles rhymthically tapping to a beat. Punii is tired from his previous struggle, panting and wheezing. Alex swings at the beast's right tentacle, but the slimy appendage moves out of the way. Sylph takes a whiff of some smelling salts, the aroma going straight up his noise and hastening him. Sylph heals Aquos, his healing baffling Aquos for just long enough to prevent a free hit. Elgar conjures up a ball of ice and flings it at one of the tentacles, the aquatic arm having a slight spasm in response to the cold. Lycan drives one of the tentacles into conjuring up a rock spike. With a theatrical wave of one of his tentacles huge spires of rock arise from the ground beneath each hero, nearly impaling them. Galen prepres himself for the oncoming onslaught of a battle, watching in horror as Johon gets slapped. The 2 tentacles dive back into the water... and 4 fresh ones emerge. They clap above Aquos in a far more snister tempo, the beast's power practically doubling. "This will be over before long." Aquos, Level 28 Beast *Counterstriking!* HP: 1100/1100 SP: 24 Ether: 26/30 Specials: 1-2: Tentacle Lash: Does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage. The heroes above and below him in the battle order take 14 damage. 3-4: Ruckus: The sound of Aquos's tentacles clapping shakes loose some stalagmites, causing them to fall on top of the party. All heroes take 11 damage, disregarding SP. 5-6: Rhythmic Rampage: Grabs the hero who rolled Special Damage with his tentacles and slams him into all of his party members. The entire party (including the hero who rolled Special Damage) takes damage equal to that Party Member's power. 7-8: Catastrophe Cacophony: Nullifies all of the party's positive effects, and does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage. 0: Tail Swing: With a swing of his monstrous tail, Aquos does 18 damage to the entire party. Every party member has a 1/2 chance of being stunned for one round. (Can be remedied or removed for 5 ether.) Note: Aquos's specials are not randomized! The numbers before each special is how many tentacles Aquos must have up for him to use it. For example, if he has 5 tentacles revealed, he will always use Rhythmic Rampage. He will only ever use Tail Swing when all of his tentacles have been slain. Passive Specials: Tentacle Guard: As long as Aquos has 1 tentacle up, he will be counterstriking. Ethereal Immunity: Aquos is immune to all scrolls. SP Constant: Aquos's SP can only be lowered by destroying his tentacles, and nothing else. Each tentacle destroyed drops his SP by 2. Hanging on a Thread: Aquos can have a minimum of 1 HP when he still has tentacles active! All of his tentacles must be destroyed before Aquos himself can be. When Aquos dies, the battle is won. Drops: Peculiar Egg, Garnet Left Tentacle B, Level 19 Beast HP: 250/250 SP: 2 Specials: Musical Mugging: Perfectly aligned with the beat, the tentacle slaps the hero who rolled special damage, stealing gold and doing damage equal to the hero's WP + SP. Stone Spike: Uses 4 of Aquos's ether to raise a spike of stone from the ground, doing 9 damage to the entire party, disregarding SP. If no ether left, nothing happens. Specials decided by die roll. Immune to Blindness and Sleep! Drops: 30 gold, potion. Note: When defeated, does an automatic 45 damage to Aquos and drops his SP by 2. Left Tentacle C, Level 20 Beast HP: 250/250 SP: 2 Specials: Musical Mugging: Perfectly aligned with the beat, the tentacle slaps the hero who rolled special damage, stealing gold and doing damage equal to the hero's WP + SP. Immune to Blindness and Sleep! Drops: 30 gold, potion. Note: When defeated, does an automatic 45 damage to Aquos and drops his SP by 2. Right Tentacle B, Level 19 Beast HP: 250/250 SP: 2 Specials: Musical Mugging: Perfectly aligned with the beat, the tentacle slaps the hero who rolled special damage, stealing gold and doing damage equal to the hero's WP + SP. Stone Wall: Uses 4 of Aquos's ether to raise a stone wall, halving all damage done to all enemies next round. Specials decided by die roll. Immune to Blindness and Sealing! Drops: 30 gold, tonic Right Tentacle C, Level 20 Beast HP: 250/250 SP: 2 Specials: Musical Mugging: Perfectly aligned with the beat, the tentacle slaps the hero who rolled special damage, stealing gold and doing damage equal to the hero's WP + SP. Stone Wall: Uses 4 of Aquos's ether to raise a stone wall, halving all damage done to all enemies next round. Specials decided by die roll. Immune to Blindness and Sealing! Drops: 30 gold, tonic QM Note: Aquos has 8 different tentacles, and every round, he will raise different ones. It works off a cycle, a repeating pattern: if you can figure out which tentacles appear when, you will be able to strategize far more efficiently. 5. It was a great event, with some greater items handed out! Thanks, Sandy.
  6. You people infuriate me. I have to keep a chocolate bar around so I don't get an ulcer. Well, thanks for the ether core...
  7. I suddenly feel my backpack get heavier. Reaching inside momentarily to shuffle around its contents, I pull out... an ether core. I fall to my knees, slamming my fist on to the ground in sheer fury and shouting expletives. "Someone. Is. Going. To. DIE."
  8. "Nagure can handle Selfast, I'll amputate Pinalt, back."
  9. "Sir, have you been drinking tonight?"
  10. Fair enough. Though I think healing an undead, if we compare it to scrolls, should either be the same as attacking or not count as targeting: the way it is now, the worst you can get is a "no heal".
  11. I think that really shouldn't count for targeting either. I think my final opinion is if you don't have a chance of taking damage, it shouldn't count as targeting.
  12. Of which you have 23 of. I'm not sure, it just doesn't seem right. Scrolls use ether too, and they don't pin an enemy down.
  13. Curses! I still don't think if it should count as targeting, though - considering they have no chance of getting hurt.
  14. No, because his blindness is from defective eyes, not witchcraft. His eyes were born broken. Also, if Sylph rolls a miracle, does it heal Aquos and his tentacle or the party...? I'm assuming party. Also, an opinion: it shouldn't count as preventing a free hit if the targetter has no chance of being hurt. that is how it works with bombs and scrolls, so I don't see why it shouldn't apply to healing.
  15. Was there any ruling on thetwo questions I posted above?
  16. -Is it still targetting if Sylph is trying to heal a non-undead? -If Aquos takes damage and Sylph heals him, should Aquos be legitimately healed?
  17. QM Note: Pun intended? I know RTA and LTA are the tentacles, but is TT Tentacled Terror? What good will healing do? Also, Alex's shield is taken into account on the counter-strike, as is row. Hopefully these last few battles you broke out the pen and sapper.
  18. No, I'm implying that people of different skin tones, whether white, yellow, or black are all still humans. Different species have more radical degrees of diversity: or, in a Progg's case, an exorbitant amount of diversity.
  19. Hey, gimme a break! A description for proggs would probably be incomplete if it wasn't a spoiler, unless you want me to write a basic description of it then add the bestiary later when al of the Proggs are revealed.
  20. Well, people of different skin tones are still humans, so a species is allowed diversity. Besides, all Proggs have 4 defining factors: >Face grid >Tail >Shell >Fleshy interior
  21. "Oh, a thousand pardons. I meant "I think not" as in "I'm still going to beat you into a pile of scrap metal regardless of who you've hurt", not "I think you have not missed a million times." Forgive me for the miscommunication."
  22. Probably when all of their subspecies have been revealed! or, in other words, at the end of 48, most likely. Forget a paragraph or two, I need to write an entire bestiary on these things... considering some Proggs are the size of a house-cat, while others the size of buildings.
  23. QM Note: By the by, I will be keeping the status of every revealed tentacle (and Aquos) in a handy-dandy little chart come next round. It'll fill itself in as more and more of his tentacles are revealed. Effects will be constant, so if you put a tentacle to Sleep and it appears a couple rounds later, it will still be asleep. Likewise, Venom will always do its thing to the tentacle, even when it is not revealed. "I think not, paladin."
  24. Wow, reading through the Embassy, Ogres are not unlike Proggs. Enjoy this little Boss Fight I've set up for you, 48ers!
  25. "Am I really such a bore to you? "Bad guy" is such a foolish term. "Good", "Evil"... neither exist. The terms are just ways of controlling people, personifying themselves as the righteous and their opposition as the devil. You think you don't seem evil to us, you vile little things? At the end of the day, "heroes" we are neither good nor evil. We are just 2 forces destined to fight. And if it is a fight you desire, then so be it! I appreicate your generosity, Paladin... but your party is insufferable. Already they have slain my beloved brothers and initiated a genocide!" With a earth-shattering roar, Aquos dives back into the ground. "Coward..." mumbles the party. They ready their weapons, preparing for where Aquos would pop out... but suddenly, the masive Prince explodes outwards from the ground, leaping over the party As he soars by, he wraps up Punii in one of his tentacles and drags him down into the water that the party crossed. Surfacing, with Punii still in his disgusting tentacle, Aquos laughs a cruel laugh, a booming laugh that shook the very cavern they were in. Punii strugles to escape from the Prince's grasp but to no avail. He hacks and wheezes until he exhausts himself, unable to struggle further. "They call me the 'Tentacled Terror' in some parts of the world, you know. And I have every intention of showing you why!" Lifting his 4 left tentacles, in omne clean swipe, he aboslutley decimates the pillars in the water that the party used to cross. 6 of Aquos's tentacles - including the one holding Punii - descend into the water's depths. Only Aquos's head and his 2 tentacles remain on the surface, his two gigantic tentacles clapping to a beat above his head. It was a catchy beat and was practically music, but everyone in the room knew that Aquos's song was just a sad subsitute for his eyes. "You have done more then enough harm here. You have done more then enough harm to the Proggs. You have done more then enough harm to my family. Face the consequences of your impudence, "heroes"! I will show you the error of your ways... one beating at a time! ENGARDE!" The battle with the Tentacled Terror... BEGINS! "I will enjoy this."
