The frigid fraughts seem to increase in intensity, the heroes' vision blanketed by a speedy veil of white snow. Alex swings at The regret, but it is half-hearted - his soul felt like it was on fire, his very being feeling unhinged and weary. He misses, allwoing The Regret to follow up with not one, but two blasts of ether. The paladain rears back, his hand clutching the spot where The Regret reached in... Hal hits the remaining Dead hand with a dwonward slash, but it proves fairly weak. Galen lobs his wrench twice at Romulus, but the lycanthrope ducks down into the snow and dodges both attacks. With a howl he rushes Galen, plunging his cleaver into the Rogue's arm. Elgar lobs a ball of ice at Daxus, the fallen hero reeling backwards with a horrible maon as they orb of magic collides into him. Sylph heals Johon, only for the raider to get punched in the gut by a particularly irritable Dread Hand. Sylph causes pale tendrils to rise from the snow and wrap around Daxus, purging the unlife out of him. Punii, his entire body shivering in the deep freeze, is unable to make any jellies. The air distorts around The regret as he vanishes into thin air... only for him to warp right behind Johon, slamming the hilt of his blade into his neck. The Regret warps back to his normal expression, still unfazed by the collosal battle erupting around him. He wasn't even fighting yet. The battle rages on! "Do you still have hope? To interject here, I'm a QM in the Heroica RPG - and Danny is one of my players. We have a running gag of me trying to be a sadist via enemy encounters, and then him making them moot through his strategy. And, yes, I didn't see Chrome's sign-up: I saw his avatar before I looked at the friend, and looked at his profile from reflex. Because I'm worthy of trust. I was poking you to get a reaction so I'd have something to get a sense of if you are scum or not. You seem to have taken it all in stride and not got defensive, which is a good sign. And that is where the convo ends. I was getting pings throughout, but maybe that is just because I'm paranoid. I know probing isn't necessarily a capital offense, but I started getting iffy around the part where Li'l Chrome was checking if I was the vig and said he was trustworthy "because he was trustworthy." I didn't unveil my suspicions in the PM, and not here because I figured I was just being overly paranoid throughout the entire set-up, but... Now, I'm not quite sure.

Quest 60 was a different kind of flavor of quest from you, Capt. I can't put my finger it... The Noir feel was evident, but it felt like a departure from your previous quests. That said, though, it was also an excellent departure. You did a good job balancing the enemies for such a varied group, and the lesson at the end was very well written.

Some variation to the spires would be great (perhaps make some puzzles/puzzle battles?), but the story-telling in the quest was superb. I believe making Wren female was probably the best bit of improvisation in the entire saga - it allowed a flighty personality that really made the Dark Lady a lovable, yet hate-able, villain. Wren probably is the best villain Heroica has had to offer, and it is indeed a bit bittersweet to see her go. Maybe it is just because you and I are both QM sadists, but I didn't see the issues others had with your fights. The only question I have for you is: why lock them in so rigidly? Alex, murde in his eyes after what The Regret did to his soul, callously approahces the ancient Progg. In a storke of luck he manages to parry a strike from The Regret and counterattack back, the blow not doing much. However, some venom seeps into the gash he leaves behind... In a cruel twist of irony, Johon and Romulus, the two heroes who bickered most during this genocide, go face-to-face. This time, though, it was not Romulus's will. Johon, with more epxerience ender his belt, amnages to duck under Romulus's flailing cleaver and strike back with his sword of decay. Galen flings his wrench at one of the putrid Dead Hands, the claw withering a bit after the hit. Elgar lobs a ball of frigid ice at the Vengeful Hand, his spells' potency increased by the freezing environment around them. Hal swings down his Halberd on another Dead Hand, but the undead being quickly hifts to the left to evade. Johon goes against the Dread Hand.
