Not in the US. Prices remain at or very near MSRP. -

Actually, calibration isn't needed unless you are inept at watching things as they operate. LEGO undoubtedly has them to keep people from screwing up - kind of like warnings on bottles to open other end. -

Would calibration be able to compensate for those who made the boom longer and thus added extra nylon cord? -

Thanks for the reply and sharing your reasoning. I can see the reasoning behind a separate controller, though they too can become outdated/discontinued, leaving users stranded. I can also understand liking physical controls over touch controls. As for control+, I don't fear obsolescence too much. Should LEGO abandon it, and assuming they don't replace it with a another app, I suspect an enterprising programmer will produce something that may even be better. -

What is the "problem" with the control+ ? I have no issues with mine. Am I missing something? -

It doesn't. Because I loaded the picture with my desk top but didn't refresh my lap top browser, the laptop didn't show that I had uploaded the picture or made the post. I have since deleted it. One of the disadvantages of using a lap top on the road. -

Edited to make R0Sch happy. -
I'm not 100% sure that is true. I'm sure that the fact that manufacturers phased them out had a major impact as well. Read truck websites and there's no shortage of people complaining about not being able to purchase a manual trans. Every option offered by a manufacture induces costs in production, which is why most vehicles come with only one engine choice though some come with different power rating of the same engine. Going to auto transmissions only saved the manufactures a substantial amount of money in that they no longer had to store the different parts needed for manual transmissions, nor follow different build processes. Today's automatics outperform manual gearboxes, even when compared to a veteran driver, in nearly all aspects including mileage. My first manual trans vehicle was purchased in 1967 and my last one in 1990. Although I like the feel of being in control and running through the gears, I know I can't compete with a 8 or 10 speed computer controlled package. The only real disadvantage the auto transmission has is the inability to be push started (in most cases).

It's a bit puzzling - he rates the set at 5 stars for looks, but points out it barely matches the 1:1 model upon which it is based, the stickers don't color match, the tires are wrong, the use of blue pins, the black distractions on the roof and the one side of the harvester gears turning in the wrong direction (the latter being a functional issue, but also a visual when in operation). With all these detractors, it's puzzling that he didn't rate it 3 or 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise a fair review and as @Maaboo the Witch points out, supports what many have already stated.

Does Eurobricks need a "no opinion police" rule?
Lego Tom replied to danth's topic in Forum Information and Help
The sooner you learn that your opinion is wrong and mine is right, the better. NO - THAT WAS SAID IN JEST!!!! (seems some folks around here can't tell sarcasm or humor from reality). There is a crude saying about opinions, the gist being that everyone has them. Some tend to think that theirs was given to them by the hand of God. None of mine were thus delivered. Mine are assembled from my multitude of life experiences but have no more validation than the next person's EXCEPT when that person's opinion is based on supposition instead of first hand facts/knowledge, either theirs or someone else's. I respect someone's opinion when that opinion is based upon facts, especially if it saves me from making mistakes or looking like an idiot. Listening to someone's opinion based on how they believe things are is a questionable use of time. Many don't seem to understand the difference. As to people disputing my opinion, that is their prerogative. If they can prove my opinion is wrong, based upon facts, I will modify my opinion. If they rail against my opinion simply because they don't like it, I tend to ignore them because my mother taught me it was best to forego a battle of wits with an unarmed person. -
I am a "come lately" to LEGO sets. One of the first sets I purchased, the Land Rover was missing a few cosmetic parts that took nearly two weeks for LEGO to send out. All the remaining sets actually had a few extra parts left over after the build. At first I wondered if I have messed up, but an audit showed I simply had extra parts. As for the quality of the parts, I have no complaints. Everything seems within specs, assembles as it should and so on. I do have some concerns about instructions however. There have been reported errors in some, so any set you buy, it would be wise to search to see if there are any reported errors. Also, sometimes the pictures are very clear in the placement of parts. Lastly, it can be difficult, at least for my old eyes, to distinguish between black parts and dark grey in the drawings, so be mindful when dealing with parts of those colors. For functionality it won't matter if you use a dark grey part instead of a black one, but for appearances it probably will, plus you'll be scratching your head about why you're short a dark grey part but have an extra black one left over.

I bet you two are a riot at a party. If you can't laugh at yourself, then you must have a sad existence. If you take yourself too seriously others will do the opposite. Axles/bearing were were the first thing that came to my mind and gear boxes were second. The strength factor is also very attractive. As I said, I'd love to have a bunch of them.

So if we were to speed it up to 9 rps or higher, we could prove Einstein wrong!
