  1. It's a damn shame this coincides with Bricklink closing operations in 35 countries by the end of January – it always feels good to support the creator via directly pre-ordering the set, but oh well Legitimately, this is the best treat the LEGO Imperials have gotten in 21st century. This build is out of this world cool, preserving playability & combining it with some outstanding advanced building techniques is what LEGO sailing ships should all be about in the era post Barracuda Bay – and this is a prime example of the ongoing evolution. The swappable stickers for the flags & nameplate is just amazing to have as well Can't wait to pay double-triple the price on local secondary markets just cos TLG couldn't care less these days – but will absolutely be getting it regardless, Fortuna/Minerva is a definitive must have
  2. The hat is small, but is put on the wrong character, I guess it'd look fine on Sloth as he was the one wearing it in the movie.
  3. A photo with a couple of minifigs from the upcoming Inferno Ship has been posted by leaker984
  4. Will Turner's Hair Swept Back with Short Ponytail along with the Wings Feathered Collapsed with Neck Bracket in Sand Green & figurehead's printed lower body part are all reported to be featured in a 4th quarter of PAB
  5. The Thieves of Tortuga should have one included, I believe.
  6. Bricksie has done another nice close up comparison of 10365 & 21322 Barracuda
  7. 2011 Barbossa minifig with the new hairpiece, for anyone wondering
  8. Titanic is also a crazy good entry from him, he truly has a unique feel on how to make some fine angles, sloping & shaping overall If anything, I hope TLG keeps him assigned to PotC ships moving forward, the techniques are only gonna get better & in the case of the Flying Dutchman's front section crazy angle work will come in handy big time
  9. I second pretty much every word I've also seen someone post a comparison pic featuring the 10365 BP & QAR earlier – quite frankly, an almost complete absence of a defined forecastle does 4195 no favours, not to mention a non-existent upper deck. We truly are spoiled by the revolutionary design of 21322 Barracuda The part I'm the most happy about is indeed how accurately 10365 manages to recreate the silhouette of the Black Pearl while staying completely within your "bigger playset" type of scale (it's only a section longer than 2020 Barracuda & is pretty much identical in its hull length to the 10210 Imperial Flagship). You can easily mod in the ornamentation of various kinds, can add all the skylights, bells & whatever other whistles – but getting the hull shape, the silhouette right & make it as sleek & seamless as possible is no ordinary task, which Mike Psiaki's team has totally knocked outta park here
  10. Well, I guess TLG just received the answer to the "is that fanbase still around?" question
  11. Literally only needed to make the readily available seagull mold in Sand Green or Light Bluish Grey & would've been perfect, but oh well
  12. There's already a mod for 10365, which includes a hull extension with adding cannons & detailing
  13. An amazing 10365 review by Jonas Heyer on Zusammengebaut provides some incredibly artistic photos & size comparisons with the OG BSB, its 2020 remake, Skull's Eye Schooner, Red Beard Runner, Cross Bone Clipper & 2010 Imperial Flagship
  14. I've seen reports about 10365 going out of stock in local stores of Australia & New Zealand, so I guess my words about the current pricing of the set being a hindrance for it to become a hit can be scratched entirely It's good for the theme, ofc, but oh boy – if they do plan on releasing the Flying Dutchman next, get ready for that $500 price tag. Meanwhile, @huguberhart has posted Captain Redbeard’s Pirate Ship with hull extension from Black Pearl on Reddit – looks (and sounds, lol) absolutely brilliant
  15. Fun fact: both 10365 & 10305 were designed by Mike Psiaki So perhaps there is a lil more to that pattern
  16. At last, it indeed appears to be around 59cm/23inch Seen it in the comments on Reddit & was also confirmed by the Korean reviewer 2 weeks ago, but given it's a Korean video it only got recommended to me by YT today – just in timing In the same vid there's also a size comparison between 10365 & 21322 Barracuda ship – I wish the guy would take the Pearl off the stand, but it's the only comparison between the two I've stumbled upon throughout all this time, so I guess it'll do for now
  17. The speed build of Captain Jack Sparrow’s Compass GWP (5009609) posted on YT by MyBrickTime (there are also some other speed builds available when searching by the GWP's name, as well as the run through instructions).
  18. I've seen the discussions brewing & all of those are legit concerns that I've decided to address from a personal perspective, so no trouble I really think the price is the single biggest problem of this set & is almost $100 too much for 10365 to become a smashing hit. Its design is so good it could've become the first sailing ship in the collections of many, but instead people are just scared off completely by the money TLG asks for it. And I haven't even mentioned the fact that I've already seen a couple of reviews where Will's second faceprint appears to be scratched/poorly printed – imagine facing that problem in a $400 set. That isn't even something from "what could've been" territory, is a real existing defect which people might unfortunately come across after paying quite a hefty sum.
  19. Was sort of addressed by the Black Pearl's lead designer. Now, considering my take on 10365 – a solid 8/10 set. For it to be 10/10 it objectively should've had 2 more minifigs included + some more detailing at the $380/€350 price point or have a said price point lowered to $300-330 area. The lack of some ornamenting, the number of minifigures & the fact 3 of em have reused faceprints, the absence of shooting cannons (which were not included as it'd be a luxury to have 16 shooting cannons in a LEGO set in the first place & they wouldn't fit with the technic mechanism anyway as was explained by Psiaki – having seen the build several times, I'm assuming it's because of their length, as width-wise they'd totally fit on the cannon podiums even with the wheels attached) etc could all be overlooked if the price was right, considering it's a flagship set for a franchise that hasn't really been active for 8 years. Going by the points highlighted in the poll in no particular order: 1) The sails are fine & a lot more movie-accurate than 4184, anyone wanting to get a better curvature out of em is free to adjust the positions of the yards & bolt joints. 2) The interior of the lower deck, shooting cannons & ornamenting would all be fairly easy to mod in (judging by the speed builds). 3) The rubber rigging looks more realistic & is good to have as long as the structure of the masts is stable in itself. 4) I genuinely don't understand what did people, who wanted Jack the Monkey to be included, expect from TLG: are there any examples of unique monkey molds & prints that were designed specifically for IPs which I'm not aware of? Or did people want DUPLO monkeys to be transferred over with some exclusive printing? I don't think simply including the "default" 2021 monkey would do the trick for many, so what's that about? 5) The naming of the set is virtually a meme at this point, no need to further elaborate (the original naming was supposed to be "Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship" & it was Mike Psiaki who suggested adding the "Captain" to it – so at least thanks for that, I guess ). 6) My attitude towards the inclusion of the display stand changed as soon as I realised the "stand" itself is literally only those 2 builds in Reddish Brown, because yes – the entire ship is so well-balanced that it can simply stand on that keel extension/lower hull without the Reddish Brown supports & it's ingenious if you ask me. It could still use some tiling up at the bottom for even better stability, but displaying the ship this way completely elevates an overall perception of its aesthetic. 7) The proportions are generally nice apart from the entrance to the captain's quarters, which is frankly more Marty-scaled than anything – but aside from that it's easily a playscale set with neat play functions included. If anybody's bothered by the hull-to-masts length ratio – lowering the masts is a matter of removing few technic axle connectors, will help a bit with the sails curvature too. 8) GWP is a scalper's nightmare & it's great we didn't get 2 exclusive minifigs locked behind a $400 paywall, the access behind which would not only be limited by the price point of the main attraction itself – but also by the 6-day availability limit & the fact that half the customers simply don't even have em LEGO stores nearby to begin with. Sry some of you, guys, won't get Pintel & Ragetti exclusively with the 10365 and for free while the rest of the planet would have to pay at least $100 of premium on top to get em on the aftermarkets. Jack's Compass GWP tho is nice to have for PotC fans, as there has been a Zizzle Compass, Mega Blocks Compass – and now we finally have the official LEGO Compass. Again, it's all about the price. For $300 such a set would be a bang, given it's the Black Pearl, which means it'll most likely double in price on the secondhand markets in 2 years post-retirement, and in several years or a decade you'd be sure to add another zero to that for a sealed copy – but for $400+ (which I have no doubt it'll end up costing in the US after all the taxing & in various countries away from Germany/France or those that aren't officially a part of the "LEGO web") there are questions to ask & suddenly 10365 may stop looking allat appealing as a purchase to anyone buying different LEGO sets for a hobby. So as of right now, 10365 is a firm 8/10 for an outstanding build, but overpriced as it's lacking minifigures & detailing for the money asked.
  20. 10365 review by New Elementary provides some more info on the new moulds included & additional bits from Mike Psiaki on creation of the set.
  21. Because it's "odd", if that makes sense. These companies are trying to carelessly push every MOC technique they've seen on the web into a "10210 Imperial Flagship" footprint – and even tho it's undoubtedly one of, if not the greatest "pirate ship" playset of all time, its design philosophy is 15 years old already. Add some really weird decisions like painting cannons in some orangey colour or making sails out of a cardboard material to the mix – and you end up with a big & highly functional, but rly questionably looking hotchpotch. Love how people are already "studioing" this set & bringing some individual touches to it more than 2 weeks prior to the actual release
  22. Jay's addressed the point about the sails appearing too flat for some people & showed how the masts could be tweaked to achieve a slightly higher curvature. @Conde I think it might be of some use to you as well if you're afraid 54cm+ may be too tall of a model for you to comfortably fit on your shelf
  23. The more I watch the reviews & pictures of different stages of the build – the more I'm in love with the things done by the design team Guys, if you're looking forward to maybe removing one cannon from the rear in order to put some galley or a cell in there instead (or anything, really), be aware that it would be enough to simply detach the panels forming port & starboard for you to get a clear view of what's going on inside Literally a couple of moves & the stern portion of the lower deck is fully visible without having to tear the entire section apart, that's awesome! And the entire cannon mechanism looks easily transferable to other ships with how subtle & effective it is, I am now seriously considering if I could bring this one over to my 2020 Barracuda with a few adjustments, cuz the hull shaping at the gun deck level is almost identical anyway
  24. I'd presume without the keel part the height of the ship would be something between 54cm/21inch-60cm/23inch, but that's a rough estimate as I'm yet to see someone provide the proper measurements.
  25. Mike Psiaki, the lead designer of the Black Pearl, addressed community's concerns regarding the absence of Pintel & Ragetti in 10365 via stating the following: "[We] toiled over who to include, and Pintel & Ragetti were strong contenders to be included, but ultimately the lineup was already too large, so [we] needed to stop at some point – though you never know, there's always room for future sets, I'll say that" (imagine just nonchalantly saying the 8 minifigure pool in a $400 set is "already too large", LMAO ). If that's not a hint at LEGO currently having plans of reviving PotC in some capacity – I don't know what is A bit more info about Mike's work on the set can be found in Jay Ong's review of 10365
