Hi! It's me the mad boat-guy again. Magnus effect powered boat is nothing new. So far it looked like this: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_effect) But it needs wind to work and basicly it needs power to behave like a sail. And that's way too simple, it needs some overengineering! So my goal was to design a Magnus effect propeller for water. And I came to this: A propeller made of two rotating cylinders, rotating on a turntable. Does it work? poorly! but still, it is able to push my 5848 Bellville boat and definitely works better than it looks. Obviously nothing better than a crude traditional propeller exept the fun to have an odd-looking, huge and stupid propeller which at least is a proof of concept. I don't think I'm going further with this concept. It has a funny flaw: no backward because rotating the other way rotates the cylinders the other way too and the low pressure zone is the same. Next one will be more serious I guess

Thanks a lot! Voith-Schneider is a weel known system for boats since ~1930. However my system is a real MOC. Never seen this or heard of before. My first try was with IR Power function with two non-progressive channel. One motor for rotating the rotors and the other for steering the two rotors together via wormgear. steering was by trim and I needed to see the orange arrows on the rotors to know where I was. Now with Control+ I use a ControlZ custom profile with throttle by slider or step by step and steering with a long slider with marks at 90°. It is indeed semi-auto.

Hi! For this boat I used the 5848 yacht hull. I closed the nothch at the rear with bricks and electrical tape. The propulsion uses two vertical rotors with thrust vectoring, like the Voith-Schneider Propeller (VSP)(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voith_Schneider_Propeller), but the mechanism is totally different. The rotors have two bades each. The blades rpm is half the rotor rpm. This makes the blades to "swim". The rotors are monted on small turntables allowing the steering axle to be coaxial with the rotor. This axle controls the12t gear at the center which steers the trust direction. In theory you could steer it 360° keeping the rotor rotation. For Control + I used the rotor turning backward for reverse and I can steer the axles ~220°. The orange wedge at the top of the rotors points the direction of thrust (forward). The thrust is obviously asymetric to the rotor but the rotors are counter-rotating giving the boat a centered thrust. This asymetry combined with the position of the rotors (~1/3 front) on the boat allowes for exceptional maneuvrability , just like the VSP. Steering 90° forward pivots the boat on its z axis and 90° backward pushes the boat laterally. The naked boat: Rotor: I have experimented with other mechanism, closer to the VSP, with the blades keeping the same leading edge along the cycle. I had help for that from @1980SomethingSpaceGuy which came with a nice solution, but that's a story for another day!

The Audi Quattro had to be in my Group B serie. It's the Lancia's legendary rival and it introduced the 4WD which became quickly the only way to be competitive. The driver is a Technic-Belleville figure of Michèle Mouton. The French driver finished 2nd in 1982 World Championship and won 1985 Pikes Peak with a Quattro. My choice is the 1985 Sport Quattro E2 with aero since previous models look a bit too plain to my eyes. As You can see, the scale is not really the same. And with my 42138 Mustang Shellby(MOD) for size reference: Thank you! I have never seen any group B car IRL and I'm too youg to have seen them race. I'm born just when goup B closed. I'ts nice to have a message frome someone who watched them race. I'm not totally happy with the seats. they look cool when doors are closed only Thanks! I have to confess this one was easyer to model, the shape is simpler.

You're right. wheels are too big. The closest in diameter to the drawing I used are 37mm front and 43.2 rear. See the picture below. I dont like the look of 37 tires because of wheel proportions. Tire sidewalls are so small, realy doesn'tt fit a car from this time. I pushed the tire on the large side with 43.2mm front (not so far from scale) and an excessive 49.5 rear which is for me "accentuating a signature thing of the car".

I can make the front of the wheelarch 1.5s wider (each side ) that's indeed the perfect width for my eye. It makes the width difference more obvious than 1s and match the dark gray grills. On the rear of the car stays 2s as before. I know it's illegal but I've done worse in my life. It keeps the toy's sturdiness as it's a pull-back.

The Renault 5 Turbo was a RWD mid-rear engine racecar. Between 1980 and 1985 it raced in Group B. My MOC is pull-back with HOG, two motors and launch system. Doors are openable. The launch lever is dicreet: HOG on a pull-back is fun! This one is more a toy than a scale model but I like the look and playing with it.

For a long time I wanted to build a large scale engine with functional valves. I decided to try one of my favourite motorcycle engine: The mighty single-cylinder from Austria. LC4 stands for Liquid Cooled 4 valves. The exact displacement is 698cm3, revs up to 8000rpm. It's the most powerfull roadbike single-cylinder ever, up to 72hp on the some bikes and it's feather lightweight (bikes under 150kg) It appeared in 2007 and evolved until today. I's now fitted in KTMs Husqvarna and Gasgas. Mine is now in pieces for maintenance (60 000km), ti's a 2012 KTM Enduro R, with single overhead camshaft. The basic scale is 1/2. It means the piston diameter, valves diameter and distribution sprockets are not too far from 1/2. Then I built and added features regardless of scale. It's getting far from a scale model and turns into a funny single-cylinder ~75cm3. Piston: Valves: Camshaft: And the current state of the engine. Left side with distrib chain and alternator And right side with a yellow lightbrick as sparkplug, a turntable as clutch, and a huge out of scale water pump. I'd like to add a red lightbrick to illuminate the whole combustion stroke. The sparkplug blinks shortly, I like that. in my dream I can figure a functionnal clutch and sequantial gearbox. An injection body with butterfly valve and some kind of exhaust coud be nice too. So more to come with video, I promise!
